Aliens Aliens R
Ridley defined the genre then Cameron comes along and puts a turbo charger on it. Relentless, action packed kick arse mother f..... tour de force. Bill Paxton is just the ultimate chicken shit warrior. I could go on and on but i think you get the message.
Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (AVP 2) Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (AVP 2) R
Kickarse movie. Unlike the first it is quick to get going and then builds the charcters in good time long enough to get acquainted with who is gonna live and die. Seeing the Predator planet is a tease and they send only one to clean up. No one is spared in this gore feast and you get the building feeling the Predator is starting to struggle to contain the mess. Once it kicks into high gear its on and mayhem ensures. You are never going to get A grade actors in this type of movie so the cast presented do a good job except for the sheriff. The predator would pass him and mistake him for a tree he's that wooden. Nice poolside cameltoe cameo. The hybrid alien is awesome but the night time rain scenario is an annoying distraction from getting some good looks at the pred/alien action. There was to much camera shake and movement, perhaps to cover up flaws in the special effects. They could have built up the miltary aspect cause you got the feeling only one guy was looking in. I loved the look at never before seen prdator weapons, this was exciting and tantalising. References to the 1st pred movie wouldnt have gone astray.Sure there are a number of mythology inconsistenses like gestation period, character development, flow on from the first movie etc but in a 90 minute movie you cant have all the bases covered. The last 1 minute was annoying and lame, not the kind of run into the next movie you would hope for. This movie has possibly saved the franchise, lets hope so. Oh, pregnant women wouldbe well advised to give this a wide berth,(pardon the pun).
