The Men Who Stare at Goats
R
Too many big stars kind of over whelmed the film and it didn't quite hang together as a journey. You weren't sure where you were supposed to be going or why, much like the lead character. It was funny, but not as funny as I expected. The Jedi thing was so self referential it threw you out of the story every time they used it, would have worked better if McGregor hadn't been in it. Perfect casting with Jeff Bridges though.
2012
PG-13
Started well, Woody Harrelson was really good, petered off into silly American bollocks. Effects are good, but formulaic is boring. Not as good as The Day After Tomorrow or Deep Impact, but it was quite gripping during the chase sequences even if they were utterly impossible (I like my fantasy to have a grounding in possibility). Also I think they killed the wrong people, I'm tired of death by moral judgement and plotline convenience.
