King Arthur - PG-13 A dreadful historical fiction and a far cry from the Arthurian legend from where it was based. Here comes the tale of the great warrior Arthur and his knights who have served Rome for almost 15 years, and facing their last battle to be back to where they all used to be. The start was not so good. It just appeared to be a low-grade Gladiator duplicate. And as for his knights, they should've been mightier than what they seemed to be. They just looked like assailants obeying the command from Rome to gain their freedom. Is that their idea of a knight? A knight is someone who was chosen and someone who vowed to fight for faith, loyalty, courage and honor. But luckily for this film, it somewhat developed my interest as the movie rolled which is maybe due to my fascination about the Arthurian legend. By the way, I really liked Clive Owen in the film. A very excellent choice for the role. I thought that this movie would be able to widen my little knowledge about the legend, but it seems that it failed to do so. Well, three stars for the effort and being somehow good enough. January 4, 2010

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift - PG-13 "On the streets of Tokyo, speed needs no translation..."

Let's get this straight. If you go and see a Fast and Furious film, you should never expect a brilliant plot and excellent acting. It's a good thing I didn't expect too much out of this. But it surely isn't boring. Satisfying effects, and good chase scenes. It's not bad. And I really liked the cameo of Vin Diesel.

Ratatouille - G "Anyone can cook!"

The best food in the world is in France. The best in France is in Paris. The best restaurant in Paris is Gusteau's. Gusteau is a world-renowned chef with his unending motto as mentioned beforehand. And an avid fan, with the same forte as his, is dying to be just like him. The incredible thing is that he's a rat.

This is one of the best animated films ever done! I loved it from start to finish. Excellent screenplay, which unsurprisingly gained a nomination and the movie itself was so amazing that it gained a dashing Oscar win. Technically, everything is almost perfect.

As for the ending, it was beautiful. I supposed that they would end up regaining the five stars of Gusteau's and live in endless fame and grandeur. But the movie didn't end up like that. Instead, they lost their beloved restaurant. The food critic, Ego, did also lose his credibility as an acclaimed critic for praising the cuisine of the restaurant he once defamed. However, everybody ended up happy. Ego invested into a small business called "Le Ratatouille" where Languini, Colette and Remy worked. It is a haven of fine French cooking for humans, and rats.

This film surely inspired its audience. The motto, as explained in the film, means that anybody can cook, but only the fearless can be great. It says a lot. We all have our dreams, or the things we desire to do. Undoubtedly, everyone can do it. But in order to be great in the field we chose, we must have the guts. The world hated rats. They were disliked. They were treated as pests. The world was tough. The thing to do in order to survive is to steal food. But Remy made a difference. He stood firmly with what he believes in despite his disapproving father, the disgusted world and the many challenges he faced. Passion. Ambition. Courage. We must possess all of these to excel in what we do, just like Remy did.

Avatar - PG-13 "An All New World Awaits". Master director James Cameron has done it again. This magnificent film is about the discovery of a new world, Pandora, which led Jake into his lifetime adventure. Our hero here, ignorant but with a strong heart, met the Na'vi whom he was supposed to sort of spy on that turned out to be the race he protected. Good direction, breathtaking scenes, brilliant effects, and a good story with a valuable lesson. All of these and more, brought to you by Avatar. Best seen in Imax. Personally, I'm not a fan of sci-fi films but this impressed me a lot. It has its way of making the audience believe in this humanoid race, the whole new world, and the creatures it beholds. It is highly recommended for everyone to see this, for words can never fully define this craft. December 24, 2009

Julie & Julia - PG-13 This flick was amazing! The performance was great, especially of Streep's. The story was very inspiring. The director had done a really good job. It's about two different women who found cooking as their life-saver. As the tagline says, "Passion. Ambition. Butter. Do you have what it takes?", this movie engages its viewers into a fascinating lifetime memory. This light drama gives an amusing treat. I enjoyed every single scene. This is undoubtedly a must-see. Bon appetit! December 20, 2009

The Patriot - R "Some things are worth fighting for." The Patriot is one of the greatest films I've seen. A very beautiful war film. I really do adore war films. The story was good. The movie was beautiful. It just shows that there are times when you have no other choice but to fight back. A film about duty, dignity, courage, country and family. But it would have been better if Mel Gibson died in the film. It would have given this film a little more impact on the audience. Still, it was brilliant. December 18, 2009

Paranormal Activity - R "What happens when you sleep?" Paranormal Activity is one of the few horror films that I actually liked. It proves that you don't need breathtaking chase-scenes and complicated effects to produce a good horror film. Even waiting and sitting in silence can give you the chill. It was not boring though it was presented in a documentary style, and the idea was outstanding. This proves that you don't need to spend much to earn millions, right? It took very little for the creative filmmakers to show a lot. Bravo! December 18, 2009

Schindler's List - R Stunning! What a film! I'm very lucky to watch this one. Steven Spielberg is the man! One of the best films ever made. When dealing with war films, especially with World War 2, it should be handled by a master's hand. Some outsanding movies of war were Life is Beautiful and, Saving Private Ryan which was directed by the same man, Steven Spielberg. I was never bored watching it. I was never shocked to see that almost everyone who saw this was amazed. It didn't only show how great Oskar Schindler is, but it also showed the dreadful reality the Jews suffered. It's about a man who lighted a candle of hope in the midst of the horrors of war. I really look up to this. It deserves every award it gained. It was one of the most critically acclaimed films in history, and it still is. A film I'd never forget for the rest of my life. November 30, 2009

The Nightmare Before Christmas - PG It was a very beautiful classic made by masters Henry Selick and Tim Burton. Imagine mixing Halloween with Christmas, and still, it turned out to be good. It's true that it's one of the best Halloween films up to this very moment. In terms of animation, it was pretty good. We all know that it was done in 1993, where animation technology is not as sophisticated as it is now. And still, it seems that it still manages to be one of the best. The story was really good. The children will absolutely enjoy it, as well as the adults. The bad news is, it was the first Tim Burton film I've seen to have less than five stars. But, who cares? It's still beautiful. Disney's A Christmas Carol - PG This was good. Beautiful from start to finish. I liked the story, the direction, the effects, the performance, everything. It was worth-watching. It gave me a breathtaking 1 hour and 36 minutes of viewing experience. I really liked it. I can't find the right words to describe this beautifully-crafted, dark-themed film. But when I had come to think about it, maybe it is not good enough for the critics. The story was great, the movie itself is. But, it lacks something. I think I was just overwhelmed by the Imax experience. But if you come to think of it, it is a beautiful work of art,but not enough to be called a masterpiece. Still, well done. November 30, 2009

Breakfast at Tiffany's - Unrated The movie was pretty cute. Audrey Hepburn deserves the Oscar nomination. The story is also nice. It just appears to be a bit boring, which is understandable since it was made a few decades ago. The way the movie ended is predictable, but good. It's a beautiful love story. It's very simple, but I think it can capture hearts. November 8, 2009

Amelie (Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain) - R "One person can change your life forever." This really beautiful film proved it. There's no doubt the critics liked it much. The way the story was told and/or presented was very astonishing. The cast performed really well. It is a remarkable motion picture with a pretty good story. It's about a simple, shy lady who was able to change other's lives for the better. I liked the ending, too. I personally prefer sad endings because they capture my emotions more, but this proves that isn't totally true. Even happy endings can capture its audience significantly the same way sad endings do. This film just proves that a single person can do a lot in making the world a better place. You may not entirely and exactly change the whole world, but maybe change another person's very own world. A Beautiful Mind - PG-13 Brilliant. Well-crafted. Stunning. Beautiful. The film was amazing! One of the best biopics ever. All the actors were great! Russell Crowe showed a really admirable and awesome performance. He truly deserves the Oscar nomination, and he should have won. All of his fellow performers were also great. Each made their characters remarkable. Ron Howard is such a magnificent director. The screenplay was also really beautiful. No wonder it bagged its Oscar. I would never regret I bought the DVD. I waited for such a long time to watch this, and I'm happy I did. It was never boring for me though it seems that it is for some. It has a wonderful way of connecting to its audience. I really felt the sadness and adversities John Nash went through. I really love the film! It is an exceptional motion picture which shows that what matters most is not what is stuck inside your head, but the power you have in your heart. It is a film that grabbed me to the soul! The Reader - R The story was amazing. I loved the story, and even the ending. I loved the way the story evolved. The actors were also pretty good. David Kross was really professional, after everything I've seen. I find everything great, except for being so "indecent". The film was solely confined to be seen only by the adults (though I watched it myself). People who should see this would need a lot of open-mindedness to avoid immorality in swallowing them whole. The Craft - R I don't like this film! I know I'm being so harsh, but that's the truth. The ugly truth. It was so boring for me, especially for the fact that this is a horror film. One of the most exciting film genres is horror. And yet, look at this crap. I was never scared while watching it. Another thing, I don't find it sensible. The story isn't nice, too. I didn't like the idea. I never liked anything about this. The ending sucks. I'm really sorry, but it deserves lesser rating. It's just that there's something special connected to it, so I gave it a little more merit. October 21, 2009

Across the Universe - PG-13 From the greatest hits the world has ever heard from the rock band that made a name in history comes a magnificent musical that many could appreciate. Through combining Beatles songs, they were able to tell a story that could capture souls. Here is a love story between an English guy and an American girl, which was tested and strengthened by the circumstances of the war and personal principles they're willing to fight for. When I decided to watch this, it was a bit late in the evening and I feel kind of sleepy. But as the movie started, my lethargy slowly passed away. I love the songs. Undoubtedly, I would because it's from the music legends. I love the voices of the cast, all of which are great and blends well with each other. I like the acting and the story as well. But something surely remarkable in this film is that every depiction of a song is like a well-crafted music video. It's like a chain of music videos combined together to form such a masterpiece. I wonder why the critics didn't like it much. It's a film worth all the praises, just like the praises earned by the world-renowned band from which the songs came from. October 13, 2009

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind - R Good film, with a beautiful screenplay. The actors were good. Very similar to Vanilla Sky. It's just so nice that when they realized that they got tired of each other and erased both of them in each one's memory, they started to know what they really mean to one another. It's sort of confusing so you better watch it, and it'll make you're time worthwhile. September 26, 2009

Broken Flowers - R A very deep film. The plot is really interesting. It's nice how his past was told through solving this "mystery" of being a father to a 19-year-old teenager. It just appears to a bit boring, and I didn't like any of his ex-girlfriends. September 26, 2009

Ghost - R This is a lot more beautiful and awesome than I expected! I never thought that a ghost story would be as great. I'm really happy I've seen this film. It has a good story, and good actors. I loved the film. September 26, 2009

House - R The film that falls exactly on the middle of beauty and ugliness. The film isn't a masterpiece, obviously. But the great twist on the ending gave it the little factor for it to have at least two and half stars, as I see it. September 26, 2009

Secret Window - PG-13 Another excellent film adapted from a great novel by an acclaimed author, Stephen King. The director was good. Johnny Depp was great. The story was undoubtedly brilliant. Mort(Depp) was being haunted by this Shooter(Turturro) because he fully believed that Mort stole his story but at the end, it was nobody else haunting him but himself all along. A line from this film says that the most important part of a story is its ending and in this marvelous film, it was all so true. I love this film. September 26, 2009

Kingdom of Heaven - R The storyline was not that good, but it's a film where you'll get a lot of valuable lessons in life. It's just that it's not that good. I do find it beautiful somehow, but the story is not that catchy and absorbing. I do like epic, period and war films. Orlando Bloom is also very good-looking in the film. But overall, the film isn't as powerful as it's supposed to be. Gladiator, another Ridley Scott film like this, is so much better. September 13, 2009

Partly Cloudy - G Pixar is really awesome. This short film is very enjoyable, and sensible. The concept was great. I also loved the storyline. A six-minute film with so much in it. There's nothing more to fix about this. Two thumbs up! September 9, 2009
