Can you believe that this movie is 20 years old? It certainly is timeless. DPS won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, and deservedly so. On average, I find that original screenplays are far superior to adapted ones, and this one fits my theory snugly. Though the action did not seem 100% believable (the big turning point in particular seemed sudden/drastic), the strong cast and writing carried the day, to create a very well-rounded and pleasing film to inspire lovers of literature everywhere.

Watched it without subtitles so I missed a lot of the plot... but that's ok! It was still really goofy, and though I don't (yet) know the source material, it was a great spoof of the spy genre. Jean Dujardin as the ridiculously inept OSS 117 was electrifying.
