Dead Snow (Død snø)
Unrated
I'm usually not so superficial with movies, but the effects were really bad (mainly setting effects, it looked like they were standing in front of a cardboard set). But I can look past that, because I'm cool.
Although I'm madly in love with zombie movies and horror movies, they are extremely predictable. Now, while some of this was predictable, guessing the order of who was going to die, wasn't. Which is surprising, because I've never watched a movie and not been able to guess the order in which people die (except for this, and Snakes on a Plane since they didn't kill any black guys). So that was cool.
It was pretty funny. The characters weren't really likable, but I didn't hate them either, which is another surprising thing because usually I'm looking forward to watching them get pwned. Also, I don't like zombies that think, but I'm going to look past this one.
So, it was a good zombie movie. It was funny, had a bit of gore (though lame effects), and since I didn't guess the order that they die it's even more awesome.
Das Leben der Anderen (The Lives of Others)
R
I did kind of find it boring, but it was strangely enjoyable. The acting was pretty good all round, especially Ulrich Muhe, but every time I saw him all I could think of was the *awesome* scene in Funny Games when the kid gets shot.
I was kind of confused about what was going on. For example, I have no idea why they were spying on people in the first place, and who the hell they were. I have no knowledge of history, especially not German history, so that brought down the rating a little.
What I did find suprising, was, without giving away spoilers, the scene near the end, which gave me goosebumps causing me to give the movie an extra .5 rating. I liked the ending too.

Festen (The Celebration)
R
While the plot sounded interesting, I was put off by the Dogme 95 rules, mainly the fact it was filmed by hand. Nevertheless, I watched it and was blown away. Although the only thing that happens is, people talk a lot, the performances are great, especially Ulrich Thomsen's. All his speeches were just brilliant, and were my favourite part of the whole movie.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
PG
I picked this out to watch randomly, not knowing anything about Monty Python and I couldn't believe how funny and awesome it was. It is one of the movies that I could watch over and over and not ever get bored.
