Diary of the Dead
by TaniaPretty watchable movie.
And quite easy to review also.
Wanna bet?
- Sudden zombie boom;
- film students catching zombies on camera;
- zombies roaming around all over the place;
- film students running away from zombies while catching them on camera;
- normal people turning into zombies;
- film students witnessing normal people turn into zombies while catching them on camera;
- ...
... And so on and so forth.
It's not a great film, as you may suspect already, but it isn't all that bad either.
The amateur camera work adds a nice touch to it. Makes it feel a little different from other zombie movies and a bit more realistic.
As far as realism can go in this genre, that is.
But, yeah, the directing style helped the rating a great deal. And considering that I only gave it 3 stars... You can imagine how it isn't such a must-see movie.Watch it only if you have a tendency for enjoying movies with an amateur filming style.
If you don't, then there's a pretty good chance you'll hate it.
And if, on top of that, you don't usually tend to care for regular zombie movies all that much either... Then there's a pretty good chance you'll end up slitting your wrists halfway through it.posted 3 days ago -

The Dark Knight
by MagaliNow this film is just perfect.
The first thing to mention is Heath Ledger performance. Lots of my friends had mentioned this before, saying how great he was and so on an so forth. But I guess that no description can really explain the brilliance of his acting. He's by far, the best joker ever. Just marvellous.
Another one, is.... thanks God!!! Thanks Nolan, or whoever is responsible for that!!! thanks for getting Katie Holmes out!!! Thank you so so much.
And finally.. what can I say? I love Christian Bale as Batman (the best-looking Bruce Wayne in the history). The effects, the action scenes, the funny parts, the script, the visuals in general... everything is nothing but great. Flawless.There's no way you can regret watching this film.

The Dark Knight
by K JOnce upon a time, Batman Begins was my all time favorite Batman movie. Not anymore... Enter The Dark Knight----PHENOMENAL!!!
It is rare that a much hyped film lives up to or surpasses that hype. TDK more than equals all the hype presented months leading up to its release. With much anticipation and high expectations, this film delivered all I wanted and more.
Plot details are best left for viewing, but if you truly listen to the dialogue in TDK, you will understand that from a comic book genre film, a masterpiece has arisen. Christopher Nolan has perfected the art of putting the comic book on screen. Jonathan Nolan has written a script which knows no boundaries.
Christian Bale is Batman. Bale captures Batman/Bruce Wayne in a way no actor before him ever could. Oldham, Morgan, and Caine reprise their respective roles from Batman Begins and add great flavor to the film. Eckhart shines as Harvey Dent and Gyllenhall is a nice replacement as Rachel Dawes. The chemistry between all the actors help Nolan create a world which works beautifully.
Heath Ledger- the Joker...WOW ... mere words cannot describe what Ledger brought to this character. The level to which Ledger took the Joker is almost incomprehensible. No comparison to those who have played the role before as it would be like comparing apples to oranges. Ledger owns the Joker, and most likely no one will ever take that ownership away. Anyone would be foolish to even attempt. Ledger's performance alone is enough reason for anyone to see this film. Will he receive an Oscar nod? He should for this is one of the most brilliant roles ever portrayed on screen.
The plot, the acting, the directing, and the cinematography are blended seamlessly in TDK. The film is easily the best film of 2008 to date. The action and drama, the darkness of the film itself all make this much, much more than a comic book adaptation. This is the must see film of the decade.Prepare yourself to be blown away.... TDK rises above any which have come before it. (Seeing this in IMAX is magnificent and highly recommended!)

Dan in Real Life
by TaniaMeh... Too sweet for my taste.
But I'm not gonna say it's a bad movie. I'm sure you'll love it, if by any chance you're into this sort of films.
And Carell is quite funny as this 'How the hell am I supposed to deal with these teenage girls who happen to be my daughters' kind of father. I personally liked him better on the Daily Show, but I must admit he doesn't do bad here either.
This was a first for me, you know? I mean, watching him perform in a movie. And I was quite pleased to find his talent for comedy is still in shape.
But as it turns out, it wasn't enough to win me over. The romance factor is too much of a presence and spoils just about any laughs Carell's silliness may provide.
And besides, Binoche's being part of the cast didn't help all that much either. I don't know why, but that woman really gets on my nerves sometimes. I think maybe it's because of her annoying naive look and persistent silly-cute smile. A real pćozinho sem sal as they say in my country.
Roughly translating it, a real tiny bread without salt.
What?
It makes sense where I come from.Average romance/drama/comedy.

Wanted
by TaniaCrazy, crazy action flick!
Quite different from all the rest, I can tell you.
First of all, and unlike most action movies out there, it's not supposed to portray reality while at the same time using some ridiculous, annoying far-fetched scenes as a way of dealing with the infamous plot holes. This happens all the time in this genre. You know like, for instance, when a plot is flowing in a somewhat tidy fashion and then out of the blue comes a car flying over a burning bridge, only to fall on the road later again and keep on moving as if it never happened.
No, Wanted's not like that at all. It was never meant to portray reality as we know it. It's way too insane for that.
Let's just say they put the far in the far-fetched and manage to go beyond it. And what usually looks ridiculous in other movies becomes acceptable and even enjoyable in this one. Because they're not breaking any reality-bound rules. And how could they? The whole movie makes us feel that there are absolutely no rules to be broken. It's like they've created a whole new reality where anything goes. A quite clever move in my opinion, as it completely obliterates the far-fetchedness problem. Truth is, you can't have a far-fetched scene in a movie where all the scenes are meant to look unreal.
And that's really the beauty of Wanted.
That and also the dark humour in it. Sharp and unconventional, just the way I like it.
Also, the directing is just amazing. Definitely not ordinary in any sense of the word. Sometimes it's sheer madness, with very specific scenes rushing after each other to provide you with a sense of being in the characters' shoes and seeing things from their perpective, not only in terms of what they're capturing with their eyes, but also in terms of how those images and situations affect their state of mind.
Yeah, some shots are really that good.
But I guess I won't be mentioning any more about the directing. Better watch for yourself. As it turns out, reviews are no match for the real deal. Which in this case is well worthy of your time and attention.
Although...
And you know what they say...
All good comes to an end, right?...
Right.
(Except for Fight Club, that is. And very few other movies... But that's really not the point here.)
Well, despite all the good things I've been mentioning until now... I gotta be honest. The movie theme is not all that exciting or even original. And it's my belief they didn't make all that much effort while working on the plot either. Which means the storyline could have been a lot more breathtaking and also a whole lot more awe-inducing.
Very entertaining, but by no means brain candy.
Still, it beats the crap out of most movies lacking a top-noch plot. And considering the amount of films which fit in that category, I'd say Wanted is a pretty goddamn good movie in the overall.
And that's that.It's a bit hard to explain the way this movie works.
Better watch the thing and find out for yourself.posted 7 days ago -
