Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005,  PG-13)
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith
An explosion of powerful emotions ,epic fantasy and amazing visual effects, a full dose of highly intense action and over the top imaginative story telling that goes far beyond standard.

It brings Lucas's vison and story full circle, filling in 99% of the gaps of the previous trilogy.

The drama comes to a total boiling point resulting in one of the greatest climaxes in motion picture history. A sword fight to end all sworfights.

This film solidifys Darth Vader as one of the greatest movie villians of all time.

Lucas outdid himself with this one and gave the fans just about everything they could hope for and maybe even a little more.

Unprecidented
Absolutely Fantastic.

Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999,  PG)
Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace
Every story has a beginning, and this is the beginning of one of the greatest tales every told through cinema.
Before there was Vader, before there were Rebels, before Princess Leia married Chewbacca?ah wait scratch that last part,

There once was a little boy named Ani.
The chosen one the boy maybe, but many shadows surround his future.
He's just a boy, but yet the powerful energy that follows him is undeniable.
Born to a virgin and living as a slave the Boy is miraculously discovered by a wise Jedi and taken under his wing., thus the events of fate begin to unfold.

Star Wars the Phantom menace, is a reference to the Jedi?s nemesis the evil and tyrannical Sith lords of the force, whose presence always remain hidden and shrouded in mystery. The Jedi who have long since fought off the Sith to there mere extinction, are now beginning to discover their revenge has been set in motion.

But Star Wars is much more than just a story about Jedi and Sith, it is also very much about the vast and diverse world they live in and the humans and creatures they protect or seek to destroy.

The vast emptiness of space yields itself to the dramatic events that are about to take place. From the moment you watch the marquee scroll by you anticipate the excitement of what is about to transpire. As the title suggests Star Wars is a movie about intergalactic warfare and interstellar battles beyond the imagination.

With a story so rich with origin and a predetermined future, it?s hard to live up to everyone?s expectations while filling in the gaps left open from this movies predecessors.
After all SW the Phantom menace is a prequel to the original Trilogy which broke box office records and cemented its place in the hearts of many adoring fans,
However this film manages to recapture a few of those fond memories as well as attract a new age of audience to its following.

The first chapter of a story general has a tough role to play, it has to establish characters and provide enough insight to interest the audience, and at the same time get the ball rolling in terms of plot development., this film is essentially the first chapter of the SW saga and delivers well on all aspects, including foreshadow.

If you ever asked yourself what would SW be like without the villainous Darth Vader, or the heroic Luke Skywalker, this is exactly your ticket. Filling in the role of the villain you so love to hate is the mysterious and intimidating Darth Maul, whose tribal tattoos face paint and ornamental horns represent an evil of epic proportions. Maul?s silent nature is complimented by his dynamic actions and overwhelming presence. His very essence seems to be designed to strike fear into the hearts of his adversaries.

As for the hero of our story, a young Obi Wan Kenobi takes up the role quite well as he inspires us to promote justice and pursue honor. He is mentored by his Master Qui Gon Jin, a considerate and compassionate Jedi if there ever was one. The acting talents of Liam Neison portray Qui Gon with a strong sense of grace and intelligence, as he acts as a father figure to both the boy and Kenobi. Ewen McGregor?s performance is likewise very sincere and emotionally profound. I greatly enjoyed watching the two of them share dialogue and play their part respectively. While on the other hand I found that Anakin?s
Character seemed to be a little misguided. The musical flute theme that represents his innocence is very stereotypical, along with his boyish sense of adventure and curiosity.
For a boy who was born and raised without a father and into slavery no less, it doesn?t quite add up logically that he would act this way. It also doesn?t help when he makes expressions like Yipppee and Yeeaa. The overall feeling from his character is that he?s just too much of a perfect child to fit into the story as a main character; his personality merely isn?t complex enough.

However he?s not the worst by any means, the absolute most notorious personality to ever appear in a Star wars film makes his debut. He?s a walking talking disaster the size of big bird, by the name of Jar Jar Binks. Words cannot describe the abysmal qualities of this character. If they were looking to replace Chewbacca with another creative and colorful mascot character, they could have done a better job using a mop and a paint bucket with a smiley face drawn. Jar Jar Binks will go down in history as probably the most hated and ill conceived creation ever to come out of George Lucas?s brain.

Moving on, Lucas relies heavily on the usage of CGI instead of props and puppetry to fill in the more imaginative gaps. Some prefer this method while other more traditional fans detest it. The CGI although entertaining and well animated, goes too far beyond reality and often creates a noticeable dividing line between itself and live action.

The movie is chock loaded with spills and thrills, action sequences that will shock and amaze. The pod racing scene for example is one of the most enjoyable parts of the movie, and serves as a wonderful prelude to the grand finale.

Exciting to say the least, the final battle is of such wide scale that it takes place from 4 different perspectives. Not only is there a battle taking place on land as well as in the sky, but our heroes, the Jedi are engaged in a light saber duel to the death, and as if that weren?t enough, the queen and her loyal bodyguards are busy infiltrating the enemies complex, in order to seize their commander.

In dramatic fashion, just as it appears the good guys have lost and all hope is forsaken, an unlikely candidate saves the day, simply by pure luck.

Let the fireworks begin, after all it wouldn?t be Star wars without a few massive explosions, a la the Death Star. How better to end the movie then bring all your characters together to celebrate their victory, and commemorate those who were lost? This is a wonderful representation of how togetherness can overwhelm adversity and triumph is more enjoyable when you share it.
Smiles, laughter, and praise, and as far as we know they all lived happily ever after, except Jar Jar Binks who was immediately executed. Now that would have been a truly happy ending.

Despite a few flaws with characters, overall SW ep 1 the Phantom Menace was a very enjoyable film, exciting, heartwarming, silly and adventurous. Highly memorable in more ways than one, and deserves to be treated as a classic.

Spider-Man 3 (2007,  PG-13)
Spider-Man 3
Spider-Man 3
SM3 deals with some heavy issues, and carries alot of emotional weight like its predecessors. Just like any good soap opera will, SM3 spins an intricate of web of human drama, filled with love triangles and bitter rivalries, while still managing to deliver action and excitement on a grand scale. Just when you feel that the mood of the film is going in a dark direction it pulls you back out into the light. Ultimately a film for all ages but undoubtebly a movie that kids will want to see, and as a any one might hope, this superhero tale comes with a strong moral lesson. A notion well worth repeating and remembering that in life our decisions often dictate who we really are and that there is always a choice between whats right and wrong. It's as simple as it is true and SM3 does incorporate this message rather well.

On the surface SM3 may seem like a sloppy put together of characters and events, all slammed into 1 tight package but, if you watch it enough you should realise that, the movie is balanced quite well. Each charcter has a cycle of highs and lows that either directly or indirectly influence anothers.

I believe expectations for this film were extermely high, with the tremendous task of outdoing the previous films without going overboard and at the same time , wrapping things up into a happy little ending that satisfies the lot.A difficult job no doubt but not nearly as impossible as it may seem, and one this production manages to fullfill. With the addition of new characters and larger than life villians, a higher level of intensity is achieved. Very few films can brag that they were able to successfully incorporate 3 villians and only 1 hero into a logical story. Fan favorites the Sandman and Venom translate well on the big screen and fit into the story's plot almost flawlessly. The Sandman's tragedy is one that harkens back to the root of our story and reflects the same struggle over the darkeness within Peter, along with the heavy message he conveys to him near the end. Suddenly the first films message becomes all the more clear and is seen from a different angle. "with great power comes responsability" The resposability of not taking revenge on those that have hurt you.

More attention and development should have gone into Venom's portion of the script, which seems tacked on and under emphasized, when combined with the laundry list of other elements within the plot. Venom was used simply as an example of what can happen to you if you allow revenge to take control of your heart.

All the visuals, everything from character design to the background settings, look and play their part wonderfully, showing that afterall this is Sony and you know there going to get it right.

With this film the trilogy is complete and perhaps the characters we were introduced to have come full circle. From friends to rivals to bitter enemies and back to friends again, but for Main characters Peter and MJ, well it seems things are back on track, all we can do is hope.

There is so much to say about how well this movie was made it shaddows most of its blemishes but harcore fans will break out the microscope and be sure to point out each little inconsistency. Yes there were a few scenes that should have been heavily edited or even removed altogether due to absurdity, and a few moments where the acting didn't match the emotion of the script, but overall I'm truely pleased at how SM3 turned out and will patiently and devoutedly await for a second trilogy.

Rocky IV
Featuring the greatest training montage ever to appear in a movie, and perhaps the greatest of all time. Here it is! the greatest training sequence know to man. I dare anyone to find a better workout montage.
Here is rocky complete with gee i joe beard, which shows hes been doing nothing but training for ...6 straight months, hes so focused he doesnt even bother to to groom his facial hair, now thats intense. Meanwhile they are using enough equipment on drago to launch a space shuttle enterage.i think those machines are doing everything but his taxes Drago has joined up in the Jose Canseco club complete with ID card and autographed book. I think the fight would have been more suitable to take place ontop of that mountain, with the loser being forced to sleep with bridgete neilson. Ohno!

Rocky V (1990,  PG-13)
Rocky V
I dont care what anyone else says Rocky 5 has heart and strong values. It does really well to show how great a character Rocky is. although sometimes misguided. Theres alot of emotion tied into this movie that hits deep and hits hard. For instance Rocky's bond with his son serves as the foundation for his happiness in the future, and helps him realise he doesnt need to be in the spotlight or in the ring , because his loving family is what matters most, and by the end of the movie you feel the satisfaction and peace of mind. There couldn't possibly be a better ending to the series than the final scene. I wish alot of the negative response to this film would dissappear. I liked just about everything they put into this. The only thing I truly missed was the acting talents of Carl Weathers, but newcomers Tommy Morrison and Sage Stallone were fantastic, there was even a classic scene with the legend Burgess Meredith, that was just unforgettable. Even though Rocky 5 certainly isnt the best of the series it remains one of my favorites.

Gone in 60 Seconds (Gone in Sixty Seconds) (2000,  PG-13)
Gone in 60 Seconds (Gone in Sixty Seconds)
What is cool? Or more specifically what defines cool? Is it a certain time and place, a simple frame of mind, or a stylish object of great desire? Cool can be a lot of things or just 1 in particular. Fast cars, will always remain one of them, and the legions people that obsess over them shall never fade

Speed, Thrill, Danger, adrenaline, and style. Throw all these key ingredients into a blender and you come up with 1 hell of a nice mix. Like a sweet cocktail that lifts you right off your feet, its sexy it?s sinful and it?s irresistibly satisfying., so much that you can?t get enough and keep comin back for more.

Gone in 60 Seconds is a fast paced action flick that takes you on an unforgettable thrill ride. As Samuel Jackson once said ?Hold onto your butts.?You better do just that cuz it?s gonna get rough, so strap her in tight.

Gone 60 Seconds is a remake of the original film of the same name, but this time we?ve upped the antie. The name of the game is Car Theft, or as the pros call it GTA.
How many cars can you steal without getting caught and how fast can you do it?
Now what if the stakes were as big as it gets? What if someone?s life depended on it?
This is where legendary car thief and expert driver Memphis Raines steps in, played by
That son of a gun Nick Cage.

Cage takes on this role with full ambition, literally becoming the character and creating him from the ground up, making him into a smooth talking nice guy that loves his family and misses his friends, but piss him off and you?ll find yourself getting burned.

Cage?s two rivals in this movie are British scumbag and underground crime lord Raymond Calitri , and top cop, inspector Castelbeck, who is more than determined to put
Memphis behind bars as the icing on the cake of his otherwise flawless career.

However unlike Castelbeck, Calitri won?t allow the law or anyone else to get in his way,and hes not above sending someone to their grave prematurely.
In gfact he's just the type of villain you?ve been wanting to hate from the beginning and gives you every reason to do so.

There?s a lot of tension in the movie, with old relationships, and issues being brought to the surface that never seemed to be resolved. Everyone is excited when Memphis returns to town after a long absence , but soon the excitement turns into resentment, as old rivals appear looking to settle scores and payoff debts the hard way.

In between all this tension, the characters still manage to make you laugh, as the exchange witty dialogue and a few clever one liners. There?s such a unique and colorful cast, this movie really brings together young and old, new school and old school car buffs into a strong brotherhood. Each character is easily identifiable and brings something special to the party. My favorite is the big stone faced bad ass they Call Sphinx, and who better to team him up with than the, short and flashy black man with a huge ego and an even bigger mouth. Works better than PB n J.

You really start to feel the chemistry between the pairings and how well each characters serves his or her purpose in the story.

The real message of this movie is togetherness and how each person in your life helps
Your individual relationships, your brother, your best friend, your girlfriend, your mentor, everyone ties each other together so well and we see that even without one person, it's easy to become separated.

Theres some really hot cars in this film, making a total of 50 in all, but the highlight is the
1967 Shelby GT500 which Memphis affectionately calls Eleanor, Couldn?t he have picked a better sounding name then Old Lady Eleanor? I mean does anyone think of the name Eleanor as a stunning beauty? Don?t think so. The only Eleanor that comes to mind is first Lady Eleanor Roosevelt., no disrespect but, come choose a different name for crying out loud.

Some very impressive stunts and driving , there?s action in every moment behind the wheel, the ending has a glorified and over the top adrenaline fueled chase scene.
Speed a holics will definitely enjoy the ride , and demolition fans will also have a lot to cheer about, as this scene delivers some devastating crashes and close calls.

The story and acting is nothing to sneeze at but, in terms of action based driving this has got to be one of the best movies ever made.
The cars are hot, the action is on fire, and Angelina Jolie is Smokin.
Gone In 60 seconds is like a brand new hotrod with all the additions, you just wanna take it for a spin, sit back and glide.
