Shooter - R Although predictable you can't really hold it against it as it doesn't stop it from being enjoyable November 2, 2009

Taken - PG-13 One of the best action films I have seen in a long time. Your sucked into the story as soon as it starts right up until the end. Liam Neeson is perfectly cast as an ex-spy who has to save his kidnapped daughter. Great writing by Luc Besson stop this from being just another run-of-the-mill action film. What you have instead is an exhilarating and fast-paced action thriller. November 2, 2009

Role Models - R Predictable, cliched but very funny comedy. It knows what sort of film it is and runs with it never trying to be anything more. Paul Rudd and Seann William Scott are perfect in the roles as is their younger counterparts and that is what made the film work. November 2, 2009

Zack and Miri Make a Porno - R First half of this film is very funny and it is a shame that it doesn't carry though until the end. The second half is just dull with very few laughs. Seth Rogan is as charming and funny as always but as the film goes on he seems bored of the whole thing. Not Kevin Smith's best but by no means his worst... a must see for any fan November 2, 2009

Mirrors - R An enjoyable but a pretty average horror flick from Alexandre Aja. This could have been alot better but fell short which is a shame as it is differant from the huge amounts of slasher horrors that we get nowadays. The highlight was the ending which was very well done and if it had been done any other way would have come across as cheesy. November 2, 2009

Bedtime Stories - PG Wasn't expecting alot from this film but was surprised as it was far better than I thought. This is a charming, cute and entertaining family film which doesn't try to be anything else and meets the needs of it target audience (10 year olds) and to pull in the crowds as a christmas release November 2, 2009

The Spirit - PG-13 This is niether a good or a bad movie. Considering the cast you would expect expect something far better. This film falls in to the so good it bad catagory. It feels more like a throwback to the old B-rated crime movies of the 30's the the comic. People who watch it hoping for another Sin City are going to be disappointed November 2, 2009

Defiance - R I can't believe that no-one had thought to make this film before. This film tell the true story of the Beilski brothers who hid from the Nazis in the Belarussian Forest only to find that they aren't the only ones fleeing. Craig, Schreiber and Bell are prefectly cast and it is wonderfly directed by Edward Zwick. Although it is slow paced the action scenes are superb and the storytelling fantastic October 29, 2009

Australia - PG-13 Loved this film although it was slow to get going but worth the watch. This film has the epic feel of bygone age in cinema which may not be to the tastes of everybody. Hugh Jackman is excellent in every scene he's in and proves that the is more to him than playing Wolverine. Nicole Kidman is great as always and you find yourself rooting for both of these characters. Great cast and directing which the right mix of romance, action and history October 29, 2009

Inkheart - PG Interesting idea it is just a shame that all the good bits were in the trailer. I'm a sucker for fantasy films but this was just rather boring. Great idea with a good cast just the plot didn't pull together well and left me feeling that it could have been a whole lot better October 29, 2009

Yes Man - PG-13 Jim Carrey is perfectly cast as Carl who is challenged at a self-help group to say yes to everything. What follows is a funny but unoriginal comedy that made me laugh. If reminds me of the old Jim Carrey comedies but a little more grown up. October 29, 2009

Fast and Furious - PG-13 After so much hype I thought it would be better.... Ok this is alot better than the other sequels but it is still weak compared to the first. Reuniting some but not all of the original cast (Michelle Rodriguez) is in it ofr about all of 10 mins). This sees Dom & Brian having to team up against a heroin importer. The plot is rather lame but these films have never been about the story or characters but about the cars. Unfortunally the director seemed to forget that but this does have some great car chases and action scenes October 29, 2009

The Day the Earth Stood Still - PG-13 The first 30 minutes of this film are enjoyable with an interesting look at how a goverment would react if an alien landed. Keanu Reeves is well cast as an emotionless alien with no hidden depth. Shame that it is all down hill from there. Jaden Smiths character was poorly written and properly the most annoying thing about this film. Along with all the product placement.. It seems that every scene has a differant brand name to it... This film lacks excitement but isn't boring either... it just a pointless forgettable remake could have been good..... October 29, 2009

Biohazard: Degeneration (Resident Evil: Degeneration) - Unrated Ok as a massive fan of Resident Evil (the games that is not the live action Hollywood crap) I really enjoyed this film. This follows the plot line of the games and is set 7 years after the Raccoon City Incident and unites Leon S Kennedy and Claire Redfield. Yes the plot is daft and some of the voice acting was laughable but that didn't stop it being fun. Although you have played the games to enjoy it October 28, 2009

Max Payne - PG-13 As video game to movie cross over goes this isn't to bad. Saying that it isn't all that good either. The casting is rubbish apart from Mark Wahlberg, Nelly Furtado is that bad that shes nearly good. This flick oouzes style but it lacks everything else. It does have very good action scenes which help save the film alittle. This is great example of bad directing. If you watch the making of you can see that the John Moore directed it for the pay cheque and didn't give a damn about the end result October 28, 2009

Sex and the City - R Enjoyable but not great. Maybe was just expecting to much as I was a fan of the TV series. I felt a little letdown. This did feel more like a very long episode (over 2 hours in fact) than a film. It does have everything that you expect from the show like the fashion laughs and tears and the characters as likeable as ever it is just to long. A must see for any Sex And The City fan.. everyone else should stay clear October 28, 2009

27 Dresses - PG-13 I only ended up watching this coz there was nothing else at my local blockbuster and found myself really quite enjoying it. Yes it is predictable and alot has been seen before but it still rasied a couple of laughs and both of the leads played by Katherine Heigl and James Marsden are charming and likeable. A girly flick to the core which thankfully doesn't try to be anything else October 28, 2009

Twilight - PG-13 There is alot in this film that I really shouldn't like but for some reason I loved it. Although not a patch on the book this was still a pretty good adaption. This isnt a vampire film it is a film with vampires in. With a really good soundtrack and some good scenes it was just a shame that it just didn't flow all the way to the end. For me the low point was that they took out Alices back story explaining the reason she was turned into a vampire. October 28, 2009

Punisher: War Zone - R Lets be honest Punisher films have always been a letdown... Saying that this one is better than the others but is still not great. This is the closed the films have come to the comics but it still misses the mark. Ray Stevenson makes for a far better and believable Frank Castle than Thomas Jane managed but part why though seems to be alittle bored of his one-man war. The saving grace of this film is the action scenes which are good. Good for a rental if you like action films October 28, 2009

Close Encounters of the Third Kind - PG A great sci-fi film that is a must watch for anyone that is a fan on the genre. Although for some this maybe a little slow in parts the script is well written and holds together well. All the casting is perfect and this film is brilliantly directed by Spielberg. Quantum of Solace - PG-13 An average addition to the Bond films. The action scenes are very good but that is what you expect from a Bond film. The storyline just follows on from Casino Royale and rather bland on slow in parts. Danial Craig is a good actor but for me he doesn't make a very good James Bond. This felt more like a Jason Bourne film than James Bond August 10, 2009

Pride and Glory - R This is a cliched but gritty story of corruption in the police force set in New York. Edward Norton plays his role superb as always and Colin Farrell is the big shock for me as he was great at playing the nasty character. Worth watching if your a fan of cop dramas but you may want to give it a miss if your not July 17, 2009

Burn After Reading - R Yet another hilarious film from the Coen Brothers. This has some great and truly memorable characters and perfect casting. This film may not be for everyone as at points it can seem rather random and pointless. But this is a must watch for any fans of the Coen Brothers previous films July 17, 2009

Eagle Eye - PG-13 An enjoyable popcorn thriller with a good mixture of story and action. Its not the most original of films but it is good to see Shia LeBeouf in something that isn't a summer blockbuster and he is well cast in this role as is Michelle Monaghan. Worth a rental just to don't expect to much June 18, 2009
