Black Hawk Down (2001,  R)
Black Hawk Down 5.0 Stars
Even rarer than your normally rare "character driven story" movie. It can not be denied that this movie is one of the most violent movies ever filmed, in the history of all western cinema, at the very least. An awesome, but hard to watch film. Ridley Scott is God.

Brainstorm (1983,  PG)
Brainstorm 4.0 Stars
Jeff Shannon is an idiot! This movie is awesome! It is a character driven story, about characters dealing with an immensly powerful technology that could very literally be the end of the beginning or the beginning of the end for human civilization as they, the characters, know it. A powerful, and immensly underated, film.

American History X (1998,  R)
American History X 4.0 Stars
This movie is awesome for many reasons. But it is in it's ability to explain how racism is a social disease, and a disease of the mind (in the same way that alzheimers is a disease of the brain), that makes this movie a masterful piece of work.

Question! Has anybody heard anything about American History X 2. I've heard that it was to be released in the fall of '06. I'm pretty sure that that's a bunch of crap, but I do want to know if anyone has heard of this.

Blade Runner (1982,  R)
Blade Runner 5.0 Stars
QUESTION: Has anybody heard about the cartoon version?

I liked the regular version and the directors cut. In fact, the directors cut version has gotten so popular that I find it to be somewhat overated, but that has more to do with the fans who like to cut hairs back & forth between the two versions of the movie. I love this movie! However, I read the book and it sucked...! I've searched and tho I haven't been able to find this idea anywhere on the web, in my opinion in the regular version of the movie the character Deckard is NOT a replicant and in the directors cut version the character Deckard is a replicant. (Ridley Scott has already said that Deckard is a replicant & tho he was specifically refering to the directors cut, he didn't mention the regular version of the movie while making that statement.)

Ridley Scott is a God among directors!

I also did not know philip k. dick personally and I have only read this one book of his, the book that this movie was based on, but I have to say that he wasn't much of a science fiction writer beyond making up good idea's. He may have been great at making up cool & innovative idea's in fact, but actually adapting those idea's to stories, with character's & plot twist's obviously seemed to be something that was far beyond his capabilities. Perhaps he should have been a screen writer, for movies and/or for tv, where he would have had his idea's adapted into something that actually worked & perhaps he wouldn't have been allowed to release something that sucks under those conditions.

"Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" was a terrible book! Pick it up and read it if you don't believe me.

A rare movie, that has the title of "character driven story", so very much so that this movie is the very definition of it!

It sounds insane, ...reminiscent of London and Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas, it makes me wonder who in this movie perceives reality as it is & who perceives it as they want, fear, or dare to. And the same goes for the ppl who would watch/have watched this movie, especially for the ppl who don't see this movie's purpose & therefore didn't/wouldn't enjoy it.

Most ppl & in particularly those who enjoy this movie, probably don't even know that this movie was inspired by a true story, specifically, the myths & legends surrounding Robert Johnson.

Light Sleeper 4.0 Stars
This movie has no explosions, no aliens, no dinasours, and no cliffhangers that make you yearn for a sequal, like some movie's do (i.e. the first time you saw The Matrix). This movie is atmospheric. It moves at a pace that is slower than most movies. This is a movie that makes you think, ponder, and want to explore. This is a movie that pulls you in, it does not suck...you in. If you don't have a brain to speak of then you will probably not like this movie!

An AWESOME horror movie! One of the best ever made in my opinion. The only reason that I didn't give it 5 stars is bc what is pretty much the 2nd to the last scene, right near/at the end of the movie the character Nauls just disappears! You don't see him die, you don't see him get buried in anything; ...tho this does heavily imply that his character did die, ... he just disappears!

A brilliantly acted, directed, & scripted film, to say the least! And although Downey may have not been acting so much as playing himself, he gave soo much of himself to play this role that one can not question his abilities as an actor. And if you do then you are a fool!

I had heard many goods things about this movie, but in seeing it, I see that they, those good things, were not kind enough! They did not do justice to this movie.

The only reason that I did not give this movie five full stars is bc of the accents. The southern speak was so heavy in certain parts & amongst certain characters that I found it cumbersome to follow all the way thru. This is a movie that I hope to have on dvd very shortly!

Stephen King may be a talented writer, but he is an IDIOT for saying that his version of The Shinning, which aired on I believe it was the Sci-Fi Channel, is scarier than the original. He probably felt chaffed that he didn't have the artistic control over the movie, which I heard he didn't want & gave up willingly when he signed the rights to the book over to the studio, but he grew disenfranchised with it over time.

This is a MUCH scarier and better version than the thing that aired on the Sci-Fi Channel!
