Shoot 'Em Up
R
Finally. A movie that lives out to its title. "Shoot 'Em Up" is a fast-paced, roughly hewn thriller that basically showcases the creative ways a person can utilize while using a gun. It all begins with a pregnant woman running for her life, while Clive Owen munches on a (surprise!) carrot while waiting at the bus stop. The next few scenes propel you to a breathtaking, all-out gun fight, while Owen (as Mr. Smith) helps the woman give birth. It was pretty hysterical, while he reloads his gun as the baby comes out of the womb, and even uses a bullet to cut the umbilical cord. But enough of that. My absolute favorite scene is the gunfight in a warehouse, where Owen skillfully strings dozens of guns to kill the bad guys. You just have to see the scene in order for you to appreciate it. What a surprise to see Paul Giamatti as a badass. Usually, I see him in the nerdy, goody-goody roles (remember The Lady in the Water), so I was thrilled to see him step into a villain's shoes for once. Monica Bellucci was a sultry temptress (as usual), and provided a different kind of 'action' than what Owen has. All in all, this was a great video/film, and a must-see.
