Herzog and Kinski's masterpeice. Dreamy and unsettling. Kinski is so intense to watch. One of my all time favorite films. Geurilla filmmaking at its best. Herzog risks his life and the life of his crew to bring about this beautiful film.

Venus in Furs could easily be considered Franco's best film. It is breath takingly beautiful. The film has a surreal quality to it, that it evokes a haunting emotion that stays with you. There are some shots that may be the best in any Franco film. The Manfred Mann ultra cool jazz score is incredible. Maria Rohm is so freaking gorgous here. She's been in alot of Franco films but the impression she leaves you with in Venus in Furs is part of that haunting feeling you take away. She's fantastic here. And so is James Darren. Klaus Kinski has a small important role. I would like to say he was under used here, he's only in a couple scenes, but hes not. The story sticks with the characters its supposed to stick with.
This is as good as any of Francos best. And it is now a struggle for me to choose an absolute favorite Franco film. But this is a leading candidate!

Possibly the best spaghetti western outside of the Leone bunch. Sergio Corbucci injects this film full of dread and unpredictable resolutions. The setting is so unique to the spaghetti western climate. It all takes place in a blizzard ravaged mountain village. The snow cover territory adds a touch of surreal beauty.
The ever reliable Klaus Kinski is as intense in the role of the bounty hunter, Loco, as he is with his roles in Herzog films. Jean-Louis Tritignant has to carry his role as the great mercenary known as Silence without ever speaking a single word or cry. Amazing on his part, for he brings alot to the character of Silence. I love how he shoots peoples thumbs off. Great concept. The Great Silence also benifits from having the talents of Ennio Morricone and Bruno Nicholi score the film. The score is perfect. The main theme is so freakin cool. I have to get my filthy paws on a copy of it A.S.A.P!!!
With an ending that left my jaw dropping to the floor, The Great Silence has fast become one of my all time favorite films. Highly recommended!!!!!

If i had to think of one word to describe this film it would probably be 'sinister'. Even the score has a sinister sound. But one thing is for sure! There Will Be Blood is P.T. Andersons masterpeice! His directing ability has jumped many leaps above were he was before..and he was definatly no slouch before. In Fact i have pretty much loved all of his past films from Hard 8 to Punch Drunk Love. (Although the latter is a love hate relationship.) But it seems like the long time he took off between Punch Drunk and this was spent mentally honing his directing skills. This film is sure to give P.T. all the creative freedom he needs for future projects. This film is fucking amazing! Daniel Day-Lewis owns the best actor Oscar in my opinion. If he doesnt win.. there will be blood! Iam pretty sure this film will have haters of the ending. But Like No Country For Old Men, i think the ending is fucking perfect. And there couldnt be two better films to duke it out at this years big Hollywood political event..the Oscars.
Films dont get much more perfect than this. I think i can honestly say this is the best movie ive seen in a year! And ive seen alot of great films.

Le Doulos is fucking amazing. It may be my favorite Noir yet. Its a 1962 French film but wears its allegiance to American Film Noir proudly on its sleeve. The b&w photography is gorgeous. Its new wave Euro flair gives this one an edge in comparison to most of the American Film Noir's that i have seen.
Le Doulos is full of some of France's more unique looking actors. Serge Reggiani is almost the spitting image of Rowan Atkinson. It was hard to not think it everytime i saw him.
The violence is almost shocking at times. Theres a great scene were a car is driven off a rocky cliff...in one take we see it plummet over the ledge, smash against the rocks below and as it impacts a body flies out of it 35 feet into the air. Unbelievable. I was cheering loudly in the theatre i saw it in.
Great dialogue, action, twists and turns and double crosses.

Probably the only epic horror film ever made. Incredibly intelligent as you watch the societal breakdown starting with the poor in ghettos. Total comic book horror with a realistic touch. screw the remake. The original had a genius like Mr. Romero behind it.

RAging Bull is one of Scorsese's best films. Next to Taxi Driver it might be his best. Ditto w/ DeNiro. This film is like watching the greatest ballet take place on a mine feild. Its so well done. The camera work and editing is dazzling! The musical score just adds that air of class to a film about a very non-classy character. LaMotta is a freakin animal full of anger and jealousy. And pity the poor bastard who LaMotta takes it out on.
And Pesci is without a doubt the best supporting player in the buisness! Ild love to see these three guys do One more movie together.
American cinema at its finest!

The greatest western ever made. And the ultimate "mans" film. Peckinpah created a film were theres no hope for the outlaw....so why not go out in a hail of bullets!

My favorite Polanski "horror" film. Watching Polanski, who cast himself in the lead, go through his mental breakdown is unsettling. And when he's at his peak into madness Polanski the director uses some really simple perspective shoots that leave you totally amazed. This film is truly a magnifecent ride into madness. Chockfull of looney characters. Brilliant filmmaking. Polanski at his finest!

This is John Waters at his tasteless best! Divine plays Dawn Davenport. Teenage deliquent who runs away from home and turns to a life of crime, after not receiving a pair of shoes with ChaCha heels on Christmas day.
This film is sooo wrong on many levels. I love it!!

One of the greatest "New" Hollywood films. Hoffamn is so incredible as the limp legged "Ratso" Rico Rizzo. Incredible acting on Hoffamns part. He creates a sleazy sympathetic character. Its great the releationship that builds between the two characters. The other being Voight's hustling cowboy.
Midnight Cowboy is by far one of the finest films ever made.

Picks up directly at the moment Curse ended. Were the doctor (Cushing) escapes the gulliotine. Three years later we find the good doctor working in a hospital ward for the poor and homeless. Cushing no longer plays Dr.Frankenstein, and in theis case ..Dr. Stein, with the obssessive personality of Curse. Cushings Doctor in this film is very much sly and reserved.
The "monster" this time out is actually a cripple who volunteers his brain, so he can live with out the pity of his old body.
This film was at one time my favorite in the series. The creature, Karl, is such a sad character. The human drama of Revenge really sets it apart from the rest.

An awsome British attempt at the Italian Giallo! Awsome performance by Sutherland. Fantastic direction by Nicolas Roeg. He makes Venice an eerie city of mazes. And gives the film one of the creepiest endings ever!!

(1965, Unrated)
Beautiful! Fantastic film about a mother and her daughter in law who turn into predators in 16 or 17 century Japan. They kill soldiers who stumble into their territory, to sell their weapons and armor for food. The film takes a supernatural turn and becomes a very scary story. Some of the most beautiful cinamatography ever.

Blood and Black Lace is a freakin masterpeice! Mario Bava fills this film with vivid colors and beautiful sets. He was a perfectionist, and it shows. He not only handled the direction of the film, he also did the lighting and set designs. He is truly an underrated Director, and thats a big understatment. He influenced everyone from Dario Argento to Francis Ford Coppola. And his name should be mention along with names like Hitchcock, Welles, Coppola, Lynch and any other respected known film director.
Blood and Black Lace is not the first Giallo film. But it is the film which kicked off the Giallo Boom in the 60's and 70's. Yet no other Giallo film it influenced matches the same quality Blood and Black Lace offers. Highly recommended to those who appreciate film as an art form. Its a breath taking film. As gorgeous as it is sleazy and sadistic.

Might be my fav. Anderson film? Willam Defoe is halarious! Steller cast!

Maybe the best trash film ever made. David Hess is his usual Psycho. Franco Nero is the bitter alcohalic writter who picks Hess up. Hess takes Nero and Neros wife (Corinne Clery) hostage. SLEAZY!

Ultra-cool film has Michael Caine playing a gangster who goes home to investigate the events surrounding his brothers death.
The final act were Carter is on the war path is awsome. In my top 20 films of all time!

Ernest Borgnine plays a sadistic train conducter. Marvin plays a hard as nails hobo determined to ride Borgnines train.

Night Of The Living Dead has the best opening setup for a horror film, ever! It sets the mood perfectly.
What can be said about this film that hasnt already been said. It a perfect film from start to finish. Horror doesnt get much better than this and neither does film for that matter.

The first film in Hammers Frankenstein series. Curse is basically a meat and potatoes version of the Shelly classic. And the first film to kick of the trade mark gothic horror Hammer studios were known for.
Peter Cushing really bites into his role as the obsessive Baron Frankenstein. And Christopher Lees Monster is truely scary! The first time we actually see him is one of the most frightning scenes in a horror film.
Hammer horror is more than just horror films. They had a dose of class and sophistication to them. And their whole series of Frankenstein films staring Cushing were the best.

|

Wilder basically wrote the film. And its his love for the series that shows through making this one of the greatest homages to Frankensteins Universal outings. One of my all time fav. comedies!
