I really liked the idea of a love story mixed with horror. It's an intriguing story. Very interesting. I thought it was very original, which it refreshing to see. I think the two main characters Eli and Oskar had great chemistry with one another. And they both did a great job with the acting. And I liked their characters. I liked how even though Eli needs to kill people to live or how Oskar wishes he could get revenge on his bullies (and does end up hitting the boy with a stick) there is something still really sweet and innocent about them. You can't help but root for them. And I think it's because of the way they protect each other, and care for each other. It's really sweet.

But like I mentioned earlier, it's also a horror movie, with lots of blood and gore. And I think they did that aspect pretty well. The only special effects/make-up effects that I thought needed improvement was the man's burned face and when the cats attacked Virginia. You could totally tell the cats were CGI, and the burned face looked really fake, not too mention that his face would have been bandaged.

The ending left me needing to know more. Is he running away to be with her, is he going to become a vampire, is he just helping her escape....I felt that there was questions left unanswered. I guess I just have to use my imagination. So otherwise, it was a good film.

It was better than I was expecting it to be. It had some good funny moments. For instance the scene where Cole ( Tom Cruise) thinks his doctor Claire (Nicole Kidman) is really a stripper that the guys have set up for him was funny, and the scene where Cole and Rowdy (Michael Rooker) are racing each other in wheelchairs got a laugh out of me as well. I didn't feel like there was a whole lot of action. I mean there was the big crash scene, but otherwise it fell short for me on that. The love aspect might be have been a bit cliched, but you could really see the chemistry between Tom and Nicole. And no wonder, they were dating at the time. I also liked how Cole and Rowdy managed to become friends.

Acting wise, I think everyone did a good job. I really liked John C.Reilly in this. He wasn't a big or important part in the movie, but he looked haunted to me. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that his character had lost his dad in a racing accident, and could never forget and get over it. If that's the case, I think he's a pretty good actor. But who knows, he could have been going through something personal himself, and it showed onscreen. Either way, it's something I picked up on and stood out to me.

Basically I thought it was enjoyable. It's not a movie to make you think, it's not a movie with impressive special effects, but it was good.
