Reptilian - Unrated Me and a friend rented this after seeing the cover of the DVD at the video rental store. "Look at this, looks like a cheap rip-off of the american Godzilla movie, this looks so bad, we have to see it". And we were right it was bad, real bad! And at times it is so bad it's funny, but most of the time it's just painfully boring. The acting is horrible and the special effects are the worst you have ever seen. "Reptilian" is truly a 'Edward D Wood Jr movie' of the 21st century. November 29, 2009

Avatar - PG-13 Even South Park pointed it out, this movie is just about Smurfs. November 20, 2009

Robocop 3 - PG-13 As people get taken away from their homes and are forced into a rehab program by the OCP corporation, Robocop (now played by Robert John Burke) joins a group of rebels to fight against OCP. This is easily the worst movie in the Robocop franchise, first off, Robert John Burke is not nearly as good as Robocop as Peter Weller was, secondly the storyline is totally dull and confusing (and to know that comic book writer Frank Miller wrote it almost makes you cry) and the movie as a whole is just overall boring as fuck. Even if you liked the first two movies, skip this one, it's really not worth the time. October 6, 2009

Fanboys - PG-13 The year is 1998 and the world including a group of friends are highly awaiting the release of the new Star Wars film "The Phantom Menace", but when one of them (Chris Marquette character Linus) is diagnosed with cancer the group of friends decide to travel to Star Wars creator George Lucas ranch and steal a print of the movie so Linus can see it before he dies. For Star Wars fans this is a must see, it has some great jokes (and Star Wars references, including Star Wars actor cameos) and pokes fun at anything Star Wars including the rivalry with "Star Trek". So if you like Star Wars, see this one, if you don't I doubt you will find it very funny. October 6, 2009

Hot Shots! - PG-13 Pretty fun parody of "Top Gun" that can stand on it's own unlike the parody movies coming out today. Good cast (Charlie Sheen, Lloyd Bridges, Cary Elwes...), memorable jokes and overall highly entertaining. October 6, 2009

Money Train - R Two subway cops that also happens to be step brothers (Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson) decide to rob a subway train that transports money so they can pay of their debts to a mobster. This is your standard 90's action flick, noting really exciting about it and nothing you will watch over and over again. Jennifer Lopez acting drags down the rating with half a star. House of Wax - R A remake in name only of the 1953 movie by the same name (that was a remake of "Mystery Of The Wax Museum" from 1933). In "House Of Wax" a group of youth come across a little town and a mysterious wax museum only to find out that the wax figures are made from real people. This is a horror movie at it's worst, it got all the clichés (the story, the characters, the scares, the kills) plus horrible acting and dialogues. And when you know that Paris Hilton was the first one to be cast, you should take it as a warning how bad the movie will be. Fact is they even promoted the movie with 'see Paris Hilton die', but seriously it's not worth spending almost 2 hours in front of this movie to see Paris Hilton get impaled with a metal stick. The only reason this movie gets a full star from me is for some decent special effects and that they didn't try to replace the late great Vincent Price and his character in this 'remake'. Dracula cerca sangue di vergine... e morì di sete!!!, (Andy Warhol's Dracula) - R Following "Flesh For Frankenstein" (with the same director, cast members and sets) "Blood For Dracula" stars Udo Kier as Dracula who travels to Italy in the search for a virgin to drink the blood from. Just like "Flesh For Frankenstein", this movie is filled with bad acting, nudity, softcore sex and some gore. Entertaining for what it is (and from what you can expect) but nothing great. Inglourious Basterds - R When you hear that director Quentin Tarantino is making a WWII movie, you just know that it will be something different from other war movies, and sure enough "Inglourious Basterds" is not you typical war movie. Opening with the line "Once upon a time in nazi-occupied France" the movie tells us story of a group of American soldiers lead by Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) calling themselves 'basterds' on a simple mission to kill nazis and collect their scalps. At first I thought this would be a over-the-top action film with Tarantino continuing the lame 'Grindhouse' theme, but I was actually impressed by it. The cast is great (and props to Tarantino for not casting all American actors and make everyone speak english) and the storyline (albeit rather simple) is good, however like many of Tarantino's films the dialogue and over all film is too dragged out (this one being 2h 30min) for me and "Inglourious Basterds" is not really very memorable. Worth checking out, but no masterpiece by any means. September 9, 2009

District 9 - R Since their mother ship broke down 20 years ago an extra-terrestrial race has been living in a slum in Johannesburg and now Wikus Van De Merwe (Sharlto Copley) is put on a mission to move all the aliens (that are called 'Prawns') from the slum to a new isolated district of their own. But during his mission Wikus becomes exposed to a alien liquid and begins to mutate. Filmed as both a documentary and a regular sci-fi action "District 9" could be described as "Starship Troopers" meets "The Fugitive" with some "Cloverfield" camera work. The plot is pretty dumb and has been done before, the CGI aliens are nothing special and the movie just feels long and boring. I guess the movie is trying to have some type of message attached to it, but I don't get it and personally I'm sick and tired of 'shaking cams', it's just played out already. Once again, don't believe the movie hype... September 9, 2009

Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium - G The odd and very old (243 years to be exact) magical toy store owner Mr. Magorium (Dustin Hoffman) is about to leave his store to his only employee and store manger Molly (Natalie Portman), but Molly feels insecure about the decision and is unsure on how she is supposed to take care of it by herself. I read that someone said this movie could be described as a mix between "Night At The Museum" and "Charlie And The Chocolate Factory", and I think that is a good description. Some good moments and special effects, however not the strongest storyline or memorable characters/acting performances. Worth a view with the kids, but not for a single 'grown-up' like myself. Happy Gilmore - PG-13 If there is such thing as a Adam Sandler classic, I would say "Happy Gilmore" is one. Like always Sandler plays a man with a bad temper out to prove himself to everyone that doubts him. Here he is a failed hockey player that takes on the sport of golf in order to get money to help his grandmother and becomes the misfit and laughingstock of the sport until he wins the public over. Seriously, while I do find parts of this movie entertaining, it just uses the same plot as Sandler previous movie "Billy Madison" with just changing 'school' to 'golf', so if you liked that one you will like this one, and you should know if you like Adam Sandler type comedies by now, right? Anchorman - The Legend Of Ron Burgundy - PG-13 Will Ferrell plays Ron Burgundy a very popular, but dimwitted anchorman in San Diego in the 1970s that has his life and career changed when a woman named Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate) joins the news team. "Anchorman - The Legend Of Ron Burgundy" has some top notch comedy moments, however I don't care much for the plot or the main character and that drags the rating down. Pretty fun, but not much more. Brüno (Bruno) - R The third and final character played by Sacha Baron Cohen from his "The Ali G" TV show, Bruno gets his own full length film. Going in the same direction as the movie "Borat", just trying to be more controversial and having the rude homosexual stereotype Bruno replacing the funny (and to a degree loveable) Borat. While this movie has it's share of fun moments, I think it tries to hard, and that becomes its fall. If you liked "Borat" you might wanna check it out, but it's not a must see by any means. The Bride of Re-Animator - R Herbert West (Jeffrey Combs) and Dan Cain (Bruce Abbott) continue to experimenting with bringing the dead back to life, and this time they are trying to build a perfect woman, however the head of Dr. Carl Hill is out to get his revenge. Sadly this sequel to "Re-Animator" turned out to be pretty much just a big mess, the storyline is boring and what seems to be a simple one is made confusing and complicated for no good reason. But it has some notable special effects and can be worth watching if you liked the first movie. August 8, 2009

Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens (Nosferatu, a Symphony of Horror) (Nosferatu the Vampire) - Unrated "Nosferatu" is to my knowledge the first full-length vampire movie ever made, if not, it sure is the first film version of 'Dracula'. Taking the story of Bram Stoker's "Dracula", just changing words like 'vampire' to 'nosferatu' (romanian for 'vampire') and the name 'Count Dracula' to 'Count Orlok' this movie tells us a very simplified version of the classic tale of Dracula. But, even if the movie is dated now, it's still has some good memorable scenes and Max Schreck is just awesome and scary as Count Orlok. Well worth seeing if you don't mind silent films and classical horror. August 2, 2009
