My Favorite Movies

The acting was incredible and I don't recall seeing a child who is as fine actor as the boy who played Mohammed, and not for a moment did his acting ever get in the way of the story. I have not been to Iran but I could have never imagine that this place is so beautiful.

The Color of Paradise takes viewers on a journey of faith,love and creates a masterpiece of emotion that is so beautiful in its simplicity and elegance it touches one's heart. I cried almost the whole movie.
The movie does not preach and there is no need to; its richness lies in its ability to portray simple elements of nature. In places where Hollywood would have inserted blasting soundtracks, this movie simply lets nature echo in the background.

Another masterpiece by Majid Majidi. I liked Children of Heaven but this one was way better in my point of view. The acting is superb. It's natural, these are no Hollywood-stars and it's refreshing to see that. The cinematography, just like in other films from Iran, is breath-taking.
I am still speechless.

Departures is a beautiful and touching film about life and death. The film started with a little humor that had me amused in first hour, then I was slowly drawn into the story that turned to be a very touching and deeply film.

The acting in this film was magnificent. Motoki Masahiro's performance was specially amazing, funny at times, but then he played the serious and professional scenes very convincingly. The narration was wonderful, it really sets the mood and tone of the following scenes. Yamazaki Tsutomu was also excellent as the lead character mentor. The film had incredibly nice flow and very well-directed. The music in this film played a huge role, expressing the lead character's feelings and harmonized with every scene. It was simply beautiful. No wonder Oscar winning film this year.

This is a very moving film, most likely based on an actual event.
Louis Malle is able to present the fear, loneliness and sadness some young children suffer while being away from home at a boarding school. His film is a deeply personal examination of the Holocaust, childhood friendship and betrayal. Its young protagonists are pleasant without being overly sweet or cheesy, despite the autobio nature of the story.
The two main characters, Julien Quentin and Jean Bonnet, are beautifully portrayed by two very talented young actors. The supporting cast is also impressive. The film is directed with a touch of genius, and holds its own identity when compared to another similar motion picture.
.In the end, they capture a terrifying time in history through the eyes of boys who aren't as grown-up as they'd like they are.

It has been now seventeen years after Indochine film release,but I was pleased on every level.The location was beautiful, and so was the cinematography, acting, casting, plot,dialogue all were in beautiful harmony. The director did not hide anything from showing characters who experience anger, insult, jealousy, and pain.
It was a romantic film in a different setting than we are used to watch, but the movie has a lot more to offer than only being romantic. It shows the monstrous behavior of the French towards the local people,the Rubber Industry and the rise of Communism. It was the French that got involved in war with Vietnam at first and later to be continued by the Americans in 1969.

So it was a lesson in history wrapped in a paper of drama romance with marvelous acting and landscapes. I was touched and amazed by this film and I recommend to all who has great taste for good films.

Ponette was a sensitive drama but enjoyable to watch.In this movie a 5 year old French girl Victoire Thivisol carried the whole movie.She played Ponette, grieving her mothers death, and she never gave up in trying to get contact with her mother. The strong point of the movie was, it succeeded to bring the viewer into the world of thoughts and feelings of Ponette.I found it very difficult to understand how the director managed to let these children act so perfectly. The storyline was a simple one, but the movies greatness comes from the marvelous acting of the young children. A must to see.

It has been a long time since I saw a movie and I can just rate it 5 stars, well, with The Bridges of Madison County I have no doubt, it was a marvelous love story.The story of Fransesca beautifully performed by Meryl Streep and Robert played by Clint Eastwood and he directed this movies as well.They showed that you can be with someone for a very short time and love him for ever. Clint was really amazing and realistic in his performance. There were some moments when so much was said with out words, and the look on Meryl's face said it all. The music fitted perfectly for this kind of movie. The pace of the movie was perfect for their journey of falling in love.

"Of mice and men" is one of these films you definitely need to see..
Gary Sinise 's directing was classic, the script was very good, fine acting, and beautifully photographed.It was heart wrenching to see John Malkovich and his character portrayal of a retarded guy and it was one of the finest you can see in a film. It took lot of guts to play such demanding role. Gary Sinise did a very good job of showing what a complicated character George was.

The emotion was so powerful, so good played by both actors; George knew what he must do, and yet, even when he leads himself to the task, we can see how difficult it was for him. At one point Senise bows his head, on Malkovich's shoulder; this small gesture spoke about the bond between the two men, about love and friendship, and loneliness. This is a brilliant film, no wonder it was nominated for Cannes Golden Palm in 1992.

Set in Ghobadi's native Kurdistan, close to the Turkey-Iran border. Soran is a 13-year-old boy who orders other children around as he installs an antenna for villagers keen to hear of Saddam's fall. Eventually, he falls for Agrin but is disturbed by her brother Henkov, who was left armless after he stepped on a landmine and who can now seemingly predict the future.



In this movie we are shown the impact that war has on those who are most innocent of all, the children. The orphaned children are a range of interesting characters presented to us here, from Satellite, a tv programmer to Pashow, an armless but still determined boy. The supporting children are shown as bright eyed watchers of war, eagerly awaiting it so that they can try their hand at the missiles, which, at first sounds amusing, but then it goes into something much more horrific, as we follow their adventures through rough camera-work and improvised dialogue.

The performances delivered by the children are simply amazing. In the lead, Soran Ebrahim is a boy full of energy, and he grasp my heart, and makes the heart wrenching part of the movie.

In a completely different role, Avaz Latif is the movie's heartbreak, and the one that endures the worst. Her performance is wordless, but she manages to portray all her deepest emotions through a look or gesture. When we look deeper into the plot to realize exactly how much her character has suffered, it is then that the horror of war kicks in.

Turtles Can Fly is not one for the easily depressed. After watching it, I was in tears for several minutes, helpless and wishing that something could be done about the constant loss of innocence. Turtles is a film that speaks for itself; no advertising needed.

When he falls ill on his way home from school, 15 year-old Michael Berg is rescued by Hanna, a woman twice his age. The two begin an unexpected and passionate affair only for Hanna to suddenly and inexplicably disappear. Eight years later, Michael , now a young law student observing Nazi war trials, meets his former lover again, under very different circumstances. Hanna is on trial for a hideous crime, and as she refuses to defend herself, Michael gradually realizes his boyhood love may be guarding a secret she considers to be more shameful than murder.


I really enjoyed this movie, and I think its in its place to be nominated for the Oscars, and I rewiewed it like this.
It was about time that we had a movie about the Holocaust that give the perspective taken from the ordinary German person's dilemma. This adaptation is sensitive and needed a very mature cast to carry it off and it has succeeded. Kate Winslet is magnificent and she is so real and human in this film - she becomes German - she is totally believable. A relationship with a 15 year old is not an easy thing to convey - both actors are fascinated. Their relationship was beautifully portrayed, every detail of the lifestyle, the atmosphere of the time they lived in , the age difference, the sexuality, the family relationship, the peer pressure and also the pain of the older woman and her history plus the innocence of the younger man - PERFECT !!!!!!!!
But the actors are what will drag the audience into this story. David Kross is amazing as the young Michael who has to play a role of virgin innocent. It's the key role in the film, and I think he was pretty good for this role. And the amazing Kate Winslet. What a career for this young actress! Running through a list of her credits, she has some of the best performances of the last decade: "Holy Smoke," "Eternal Sunshine?," "Iris," "Finding Neverland," "Little Children." But here she does something very different. Playing what amounts to a monster, we see that they are human too. Not many actresses could bring this off, but it may be her greatest accomplishment to date.

I highy recommend this movie despite to watch Kate Winslet's in the evil role .It's one of the great and memorable performances of 2008. 5 stars

I cant say much of this movie, cause than there is no use for you to see it, cause you will have to ask Flixster to double up your profile, cause so much I will write about this movie, I will only say, rent it, or either dl it, or buy it....5 stars

In the Tropics of South America, Colombia, an innocent desire blossom in to a romance of this beautifull novel. Florentino Ariza magistral performed by Academy winner Javier Bardem, spots the beautifull Fermina Daza, played by Giovanna Mezogiorno, and they fell inmediately in love. Denied by her father, Florentino refuses to give up the love of his life, even if tht means waiting decades to fill the passion of his heart.

Love in the time of Cholera, is a novel written by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Colombian novel writer. He was born in arataca, nothern region of Colombia, I believe many of you have not even heard of this man before, but he has written so many novels, tht has brought him to win Nobel Prize in litherature. Many of his novels were filmed, but this one particular was such a beautiful one, full of emotions and love.

The movie itself describes the love of a man, who has waited so many years to be with the woman of his life, and thts why the question "how long would you wait for love"? Fans of romatic drama will adore this movie, just let you yourself get lost into this movie, I have no words for this, otherwise I will fill in pages, of wht I found of this whole movie, the cast consist actors like Benjamin Bratt, John Leguizamo and Hector Elizondo, simply great cast iincredible, Just watch it, and share afterwards it with me,
Shakira songs were beautiful for the movie, if you are not Spanish speaking like me, make sure you have english undertitling, cuz little part is in spanish, very little. 5 stars ...
Collection movie...Worth it to see..

Portrait of a Beauty, was a beautiful movie, The story of a young girl, in the court painter dynasty. Kim Min Sun was excellent in the lead role, showing her inner desires for art and her heart. Director Jeon gave the story an artistic view, paying a great deal of attention to her paintings and also let the viewers admire the classical Asian art, but stayed focused on the human side of the story.The sex scenes will be attracted most attention ,it was realistic and beautifully filmed. They showed a great deal of skin and long sex scenes but even so the movie managed to stay enjoyable to watch. Mind blowing.........Beautiful
