I wish I wasn't so bored during the first half of the movie. I probably would have liked this more. A second viewing would possibly be more enjoyable, knowing what is really going on.
It's never boring. A straight-up revenge flick. Bacon is good. Goodman is good. Guess I just wanted more of a storyline out of it and the cops part of it just seemed dumb.
If this had Cage or Cruise playing Stark, it would have blown. Downey is a great choice here. Also, The Dude is weird yet great in this. I wanted more action though. I'll be interested to see how this all plays out. (That 'bonus scene' was incredibly overhyped.) [UPDATE: The more I think about this movie, the more I like it: so I've upped it to four stars!]
There are quite a few moments where you can see the potential. But most of the time, you can see how the movie was dragged through development hell. Better to just find clips of the hilarious sketches amongst the many. And there are a handful.
Recently showed the Indiana Jones trilogy to my 9yo -- I think this was his favorite. Doesn't grab me like it seems to grab pretty much everyone. But it is good!
I'm trying to keep in mind that I watched the dumbed-down International Version but I wanted this to be so much more. I'll still give the sequel a shot...
