Which scene is the best? The loser getting what he deserves in bed during his pleasure; the boyfirend; the unchaste gynocologist; the abusive, incestous sodomizing brother, or the hitchhiker? It doesn't matter because I enjoyed every single moment of castration.

One of the best films I've seen in a while. And definitely one of the strangest. Very funny, you just want to see more of the couple's life and you keep asking yourself, how long can this go on? It's madness.
I will never think of pregnancy the same way again.
I love to read childresn's tales, and I want to read this and other czech stories.

There is such a sense of eeirness about this. It has to be my all time favorite old classic. My favorite scene is the first...and who could forget that music? What is my idea of romance? Well, this would be one of them. Dinner, candles, and this wonderful movie. It isn't just the acting and the story that makes it so good. It's also the non-existance of color. A lot of people just look down and black and white. But really, it gives a feeling you might not get otherwise, in color. For example. The scene where the house is giving sway to "those things", and everyone is losing it...Barbara is released from her catatonic state, and tries to help defend the door...she has a little strength, until she sees her brother Johnny. If this had been in color, the feeling wouldn't have been there...the shadows on his face. The absence of humanity---
