The Graduate (1967,  PG)
The Graduate
One word: plastics.
2
Das Leben der Anderen (The Lives of Others) (2006,  R)
Das Leben der Anderen (The Lives of Others)
Fantastic. The best film I've seen in ages. The characters are complex, the storyline is honestly riveting, and it provides a dramatic but believable view of a fascinating bit of history. It's simultaneously heartwrenching and uplifting. Beautiful.
3
Monsoon Wedding (2002,  R)
4
Rachel Getting Married (2008,  R)
Rachel Getting Married
This movie is about a girl who is a train wreck, but is not a Train Wreck. It is also full of endearingly quirky and eclectic characters who are not Endearingly Quirky and Eclectic. In other words, it's not manufactured. Oh yeah, and they say Anne Hathaway is gonna score an Oscar for this one. Yeah, she should.
5
Saved! (2004,  PG-13)
Saved!
It takes a certain amount of talent to make a movie about teen pregnancy funny, adorable, and poignant.
6
2 Days in Paris (Deux jours ŕ Paris) (2007,  R)
2 Days in Paris (Deux jours ŕ Paris)
Hilarious. Relationship humor, awkward social situation humor, culture clash humor, and dirty french humor. Fun for the whole family.
7
Mean Girls (2004,  PG-13)
8
Zoolander (2001,  PG-13)
Zoolander
