The Dark Knight
by JohnThis was just an absolute joy to watch. I can't say that this movie was wonderful from start to finish, but it was what the hype had made it become. Maybe more than that.
First and most importantly, The Joker... or: Heath Ledger, rather. A brilliant actor with no limits in this thrill ride. He displayed one of the greatest and most honorable performances in any film I've seen. I'd say that he was better than the hype declared. I enjoyed every scene he had and I wish he could've been in more. Really, I do. When you watch this, you don't see Heath Ledger at all. You see what Heath was able to bring us. He brought something much more than I could have ever hoped for. He ended his career with no such flaw. I will never forgot what I saw. I will never forget him.
The Introduction: The Beginnig of the Film. The Dark Knight begins with a bank robbery. This is The Joker's rise, showing us his true nature. He advances with his insanity in just a few minutes of screentime. The Joker's entrance was just the tie-in from Jim Gordon's final statement in Batman Begins. That was the entrance of his psychotic behavior. I wasn't entirely enthralled by the start. It's mostly becuase I saw the first 6 minutes of it online several months before The Dark Knight made its appearence on the silver screen. Eventually, I accepted it for what it is.
The Plot: Part I - The Joker Unleased! The story was slightly unstable and care free. The first half was a serious problem for me to enjoy. I didn't like it all too much. it was too random and had little excitement. Lau was useless to begin with, Coleman Reese was a meaningless thret, Bruce Wayne and the Russian ballet, especially his "date", were too much glass i had to shallow [if you know what I mean]. The Dark Knight didn't have a plot, story, or purpose. But that's what made it work. To quote Heath Ledger, "I'm like a dog chasing cars; I wouldn't know what to do with one if I caught it. I just do...". This centers around the film's "plot" as well, but just one half of its plot. This half is The Joker being completely destructive unexpectedly. This other half is...
The Plot: Part II - Irony for Dent. Harvey Dent, later known as Two-face, has his story revolving around yet another quote from the film, "You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villian". That's what The Dark Knight is all about. It's the Adjetive for Dent, Wayne, and Joker. They all have that going for them.
No one should compare Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger in any way by their performances as The Joker. Honestly, they're both great, but Ledger brought so much more originality. That doesn't mean he's better than Nicholson. They're both unique in their own way. Jack was outgoing, fresh, comedic, crazy. Heath was strong, demented, clever, witty. They're both fantasic. Personally, Ledger was more enjoyable to me. He put a smile on my face and he didn't even have use a knife. He gave the performance of the decade, in the movie event of the decade.
IMDb (Internet Movie Database) has The Dark Knight currently in the #1 spot of the top 250 list with nearly 70,000 votes to back it up. On July 18, This film was set as #4 during the day's early hours, and as it grew old, it was set to #3. Far too much praise for a newly released picture. I realize that this film is Heath Ledger's last major role and has ben hyped up for quite some time. I even have to say that I hghly enjoyed watching each minute of it, but I just don't think the outcome should be exaggerated so much.
Believe me when I saw, if it weren't for Heath Ledger, this movie would be nothing to me.
Just so you know... I still have a lot more to write about this movie. Mainly: the Acting, the Music, the Visuals, and my ConclusionYOU BETTER SEE THIS!!! HEATH LEDGER GAVE HIS BEST PERFORMANCE.

Brokeback Mountain
by JohnA drama with a beautifully scripted story. All the negativity this film gets is just heartbreaking. Yes, it's about a gay relationship, but Ledger and Gylenhaal make it seem so real from trhe start to the end. Both men find women that bond with, but the love they express for each other is more deeply than any other they could be offered. This film easily could've and should have won best picture.
Hey, you should really see this!

The Abyss
by JohnOh, boy what a movie this was. Every scene was very suspenseful. And yes, i do mean nail-biting suspense. I almost had a heart attack. Haha. Not really... but the visuals though at first limited are very impressive for yet another 80s film... other 80s Special Efects for films i am refering to are TRON and Back to the Future. The ending was slightly pathetic, but also a relief to view. I wanted to watch it the second it finished. At some parts it tends to be slow and this only worsens in th extended version [which i have yet to see]. Overall......... this is a glorious film with nothing less than a strapped-in ride that'll make you scream yourself unconscious
You Really Need To See This! It's Amazing!
