1
The One and Only (2002,  Unrated)
The One and Only
The movie starts off with two couples, the first being sour faced Jenny and Neil who talks about kitchen cupboards 24/7 who are trying to adopt and the second Italian footballer star Sonny and his wife Stevie who are trying for a baby. Both couples have their problems and when Neil and Stevie bump into each other its love at first sight but then Jenny and Neil get the yes from the adoption agency and become parents to a six year old African girl called Mgala (no one knows how to say it so they all call her Me-lager) and Stevie becomes pregnant by Sonny so the path to true love is not an easy one.

The first time i watched this movie i had missed the first 45 minutes so i was really confused but gripped and within minutes of watching it i was laughing out loud (which is rare for me). Its an hard movie to write about because nothing really happens and nothings really amazing (although the locations look quite stunning) but to me it is one of the most romantic, funny movies i have ever seen. If i had to describe it in one word i would say "easy" - easy to laugh at,easy to watch, easy to love. The characters could be seen as boring but i found them hilarious.
2
The Hills Have Eyes (2006,  R)
The Hills Have Eyes
The Hills Have Eyes is a great horror movie with lots of disturbing tension. This movie is my idea of horror perfection. I love the storyline and the character development,i really do care about the family and want them to survive. In one scene i actually burst out crying,my emotions felt like they were on a rollercoaster. I sat on the edge of my seat, wanting to cover my eyes but not wanting to miss anything.

Aaron Stanfords character was so hot in this movie,he got hotter as the movie when on and by the end of the movie he was on fire.

This is one remake that is ten times better than the original (in my opinion).
3
Fear (1996,  R)
Fear
FEAR - Your teenage daughters just brought home the boyfriend from hell!

When i tell people how much i like this movie most of them laugh.....okay so it was never going to win any Oscars but personally i love this movie and think it did not get the credit it deserved.

The storylines been done before but Fear offers one of the most interesting plots for this kind of movie and it keeps the viewer interested throughout.

The characters are well developed and easy to get in to and i love the directions they take throughout the movie. Also i thought the characters were very original. Reese Witherspoon is great playing the nice young (little bit dumb) family girl Nicole who is craving a bit of excitement from a boyfriend like David (Mark Wahlberg) who at first just appears to be a bit of a bad boy when infact he is a deranged psychopath. Mark Wahlberg is excellent at being a bad guy and also (its wrong to say this but) he is hot in this role. Nicole and Davids relationship starts out a happy one but it soon becomes clear that David is obsessive about Nicole and he will do anything to protect their relationship, the chemistry between the two of them was excellent. Lets not forget a great performance from Alyssa Milano who plays Nicoles best friend Margo.

Fear is terror-rific and entertaining, its a decent thriller.
4
Imagine Me & You (2006,  R)
Imagine Me & You
The path to true love isn't always straight...

The first time i watched this movie i had no idea what it was about but it doesnt take long to work out whats happening and i think the reason for this is because the chemistry between the two characters is very obvious so a big applause to Piper Perabo and Lena Headey for their excellent acting skills. The two main characters Rachel (Piper) the straight newlywed and Luce (Lena) the lesbian florist are both very likeable and sweet and between them they create a "love is in the air" kind of atmosphere that you will feel whether you are gay or straight.
5
The Faculty (1998,  R)
The Faculty
I love everything about this movie. Perfect!
6
Willow (1988,  PG)
Willow
"Elora Danan must survive. She must fulfill her destiny and bring about the downfall of Queen Bavmorda. Her powers are growing like an evil plague. Unless she is stopped, Bavmorda will control the lives of your village, your children, everyone. All creatures of good heart need your help, Willow. The choice is yours."

Willow is my favourite fantasy movie from the 80s. Its got a little bit of everything in it including action, romance, mystery and a cute baby,Elora Danan. No matter how many times i watch this movie i always enjoy it as if i am watching it for the first time,i wish they still made fantasy movies like this. Willow features an excellent cast and amazing characters,a beautiful magical kingdom and a good old "good versus evil" plot. Great fantasy fun for all ages.

28 Days Later
This is one of the most amazing films i have ever seen. It was very atmospheric and i felt like i was in the movie going on the journey with the main characters. It was very spooky to see London looking so eerie. Music was used very well in this film.

The highlight of the film for me was the scene after Cillian had gauged the mans eyes out and his face was covered in blood, that was one of the sexiest scenes i have ever seen in a film. I just wanted to lick the blood off him, lol.

Dawn of the Dead
I have a love hate relationship with zombie films. Whilst watching them i enjoy them but after they play on my mind for a few days - what if one day zombies walk the earth? what equipment would i need to survive? I know i am screwed up but the worse thought is what if my family gets zombified.

Anyway i enjoyed Dawn of the Dead but the end really depressed me.

Just watched it.....again! My favourite movie ever. This film was amazing and it had an amazing cast.

I loved every single character, every single one. The relationships in this movie were the most real i have ever seen in a film, you really believe that the Owens family were all really related. Sally and Gilly were both so different but so equally likeable and the aunts were just adorable.

As soon as the film started i knew it would make a big impact on my life. It is so easy to watch,i can have it playing on my tv all day long without getting bored.

The soundtrack is also great,i have it on cd.

My favourite bit is when Sally runs from her gardening to kiss Michael and also i love it when they jump on the roof at the end, excellent!

The Life That I Have

The life that I have
Is all that I have
And the life that I have
Is yours

The love that I have
Of the life that I have
Is yours and yours and yours.

A sleep I shall have
A rest I shall have
Yet death will be but a pause
For the peace of my years
In the long green grass
Will be yours and yours and yours.

Get your tissues ready.

Doomsday (2008,  R)
Doomsday
The following is the plot summary for my favorite kids tv show The Tribe........

'Where the virus came from, no-one knew... from deepest space, bacterial warfare or some nation's scientific experiments gone horrifically wrong? All the Adults are gone... All the teachers are gone... All peace and regular meals are gone... Just tribal instincts and war paint survive. If survival depends on not getting caught by the evil Locusts or rival cyber gang Demon Dogs or just finding your next meal... then the only option is to start your own Tribe.'

........so when i saw Doomsday advertised earlier this year i could not wait to watch it because it reminded me of my favorite show. I thought wow an adult version, what can we expect? I never got chance to see it on the cinema and over the last few months i became less and less excited because of all the bad reviews i had heard about it.

I finally watched it this week and i loved it. I would describe it as an action-packed black comedy rather than a thriller, there are quite a few laugh out loud scenes and the dinner scene was thoroughly entertaining,it reminded me of the evening entertainment at the top UK heavy metal festival Download but i could not help thinking how is that one BBQ cooked man going to feed such a large crowd of cannibals.

I would love to see a sequel!

Breakfast on Pluto
A charming funny movie with a great performance from Cillian Murphy. Patrick "Kitten" Braden was a very likeable and sweet character. Even though it had its sad moments it was still a feel good film.

Bunny Lake Is Missing (1965,  Unrated)
Bunny Lake Is Missing
Bunny Lake is Missing is about a missing 4 year old girl. Her mother and uncle have just moved to the UK from the USA and they enrol Bunny into school. It all sounds very average but the weird thing is we do not actually see Bunny and the movie gets us thinking is Bunny real or an imaginary child the mother made up during her childhood. The film keeps you guessing and towards the end turns quite dark and chilling.

I guessed the outcome but my husband got it completely wrong.

Twilight
Not as good as the book but i still loved this movie. Some scenes were not as good as i had expected them to be but others were even better than i ever could of imagined for example the baseball game and the prom,it was beautiful. I also loved the closing black and white credits. Bella and Edward were portrayed excellently by Kristen and Robert and i loved Alice but wished we had seen more of her. The only problem is i have to wait for New Moon.

Edward dazzled.

The Two Worlds of Jennie Logan
This movie is about a woman who is trying to rebuild her shattered marriage. She and her husband move to an old Victorian style home, where she finds a beautiful dress in the attic, which has a tear in the shoulder. She has the dress repaired. When she tries it on in the restored attic, she suddenly finds herself in another era. This time travel seems to happen whenever she wears the dress. She learns the house was once owned by an artist who died under mysterious circumstances. She meets the artist and eventually falls in love with him. Knowing what she does about his fate, can her love save him and change history?

I love this movie and asked Flixster to add it. It is a beautiful well written love story,i have seen it only once when i was 4 years old but it stuck in my mind and i would love to watch it again.

Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging
My daughter recommended this movie to me and i really did not fancy it but after i brought it her on dvd for Christmas she managed to convince me to watch it and i was surprised by how good it was,i even watched it again straight after because it made me laugh so much and it flowed really well that i think it will be one of those movies i have playing in the background whilst i do my housework or ironing.

Being the mother of a 14 year old girl i thought the teenage characters were really realistic and the embarassing parents were just brilliant plus Angus was adorable in his little outfits, bless.

Mamma Mia!
Beautiful movie. It was a really fun film and it had the feel good factor. I sang all the way through and it ended leaving me feeling very happy which is great because i usually do not enjoy musicals. The casting was great,Meryl and Amanda looked and acted like real mother and daughter. The story was silly and cheesy but it did not matter because overall it was great.

The Safety of Objects
I knew nothing about this movie before i watched it today,i had no idea of the storyline or even who was in it. I just randomly recorded it and it turned out to be one of the best movies i have watched so far this year.

Without giving too much away The Safety of Objects is about four families in surburbia. There are many main characters and whats great is that they are all really interesting. Excellent cast, excellent story, excellently all mixed together. Not to be missed.

[Rec]
Recommended by Deano78.

A simple looking movie that scared me stupid! I loved it. It was a fresh and exciting movie.

I think [Rec] worked really well because of how it was filmed,we dont really know whats happening which for me increased the appeal, even when the movies finished we are still none the wiser on a few things for example who was the boy in the penthouse and for me the not knowing also increases the fear factor. By the end of the movie i had to sit on my hands so i could not hide behind them. For 76 minutes i cut off from the real world and was happy to be sucked into this movie.

One of the best movie experiences i have had in a long time. [Rec] is the first movie to get 5 stars from me this year(2009).

Well done to [Rec] for making me truly scared, terrified and chilled to the bone.

I watched Rec and then the following night i watch Quarantine. Rec was much better,it is the best movie i have watched so far this year but i still enjoyed Quarantine. Quarantine had a longer running time than Rec so it dragged slightly and it annoyed me that they added a small dog just for the "small dog gets slaughtered" scene.

The Children (2008,  R)
The Children
This movie looks great but my local cinema only showed it for a few days over Christmas and now they have took it off, damn them!

Update 2- yippee The Children is finally out on dvd.

Update 3 - It was worth the wait!

Yippee i finally got to watch The Children today with my husband and daughter,i watched the UK 18 version. It was amazing and gripping from start to finish,a good British movie. Hannah Tointon (Katie from Hollyoaks) plays the lead character Casey, one of the older children,i think she was suppose to be about 16/17. Caseys family joins her aunts family to stay for a few days to welcome in the New Year. One by one the children become poorly and turn into evil little killers who quickly turn on their parents and pets.

Overall the acting is excellent,Hanna Tointon is brilliant shes certainly improved since Hollyoaks and the smaller children are brilliant at being moody, spoilt, brattish and demonic. All the characters were believable and reminded me of people i know in real life especially the over protective middle class aunt(gold star charts, home schooling,my children would not behave like that attitude). The atmosphere was creepy and eerie and the visuals were stunning(blood and ice,the stunning country home set amongst the snow),it all worked well to create a feeling of doom and dread.

Rory O'Shea Was Here (Inside I'm Dancing)
Wow what a brilliant movie to stumble across.

This movie was very realistic. The story is great and the characters are amazing which is great because its a character driven movie. The acting is exceptional,a big round of applause to James McAvoy,Steven Robertson and Romola Garai. The movie is a rollercoaster of emotions - fun, serious, hilarious, sad, touching, moving. Its goes from very funny to upsetting and back again throughout the movie.

The movie is about the friendship between Michael (Steven Robertson) and Rory (James McAvoy). Michael has cerebal palsy and lives a quiet unexciting life in a residential home. When disabled Rory arrives at the home he befriends Michael and shows him how to live life to the full with a disability. This is a must see.

Dan in Real Life
Well i had no idea what this movie was about and i hate Steve Carrell movies so i was not expecting much but i loved this movie,it was fabulous and fun. Very realistic, the humour is very down to earth. I laughed out loud so many times which is rare for me. The teenage daughter who was in love was spot on to how dramatic teenage girls can be. The family is great,i would love to spend a weekend with them.

This is what a romantic movie should be like instead of the usual soppy crap like Sleepless in Seattle or You've Got Mail. And to think i had this rated as Not Interested.

Wow wow wow. This movie was amazing!

I am on a natural high from the excitement of watching it. One of the most entertaining movies i have seen in a long time, visually beautiful and stunning. The music was awesome and the costumes were to die for. The lead character Shiloh was adorable and Sarah Brightman was a gothic babe. Oh and do not forget the Graverobber,he was very easy on the eyes,a new Gothic heart throb for me to lust over. Loved the songs, loved the set. This movie was creative, arty and vibrant. I loved it. Wicked gothic fun.

Wow i loved it. It was beautiful and stunning to watch. It made me feel very emotional, the bond between Drover,Sarah and Nullah was lovely to watch. The story was brilliant, the main characters were likeable and the baddies were very unlikeable, infact they were vile. I also loved all The Wizard of Oz touches. Easily one of the best movies i have seen so far this year.

I would like to see it but i avoided the book because someone told me it was sad and i hate sad dog movies because they make me cry so even though i would like to see it i probably wont.

Update - i just noticed that Jennifer Aniston is in this movie and as much as i loved her in Friends i really can not stand her in anything else so i certainly will NOT be watching this movie.

Update Number 2 - Recently i am really enjoying all the movies i think look crappy and not liking the movies i am expecting to love.

Well Marley and Me was a brilliant movie. It was very moving. I cried and cried and cried and cried and cried and then cried a bit more. Jennifer Aniston was good (for a change) but she was very Rachel like (no change here). It skips from very funny to very sad and back again so get your tissues ready!

"I do not doubt it; he is a dreamer like yourself. You both dream of another world that does not exist, and never will."

The Duchess is one of the best period dramas i have ever seen. The characters and storyline are both very interesting and the costumes are to die for. The love story between G and Charles Grey was real and heartbreaking, whilst the relationship between G and her husband The Duke of Devonshire is cruel and twisted.

The Duchess was a pleasure to watch - the wealth, the locations, the gowns and the acting was great, the only bad thing about this movie was it made me cry and cry and cry. When it ended i felt very emotional and just sat there weeping.
