Alice: "If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?"
I absolutely adore this movie. When I saw it for the first time, Rachel Hurd-Wood's performance blew me away and the whole story was frightening and very interesting. This movie's in my Top 10 for sure. Betsy Bell's character was relatable to me and I understood her pain. The atmosphere and location are key and they were amazing. Another reason why I loved it so much was because I have a fondness for the 1800s and its simplicity.
"This will pass, Betsy."
All the actors did a wonderful job. An American Haunting is a movie that has stayed with me and I can watch it so many times and it never gets old.
"It was one of those days when it's a minute away from snowing and there's this electricity in the air, you can almost hear it. And this bag was, like, dancing with me. Like a little kid begging me to play with it. For fifteen minutes. And that's the day I knew there was this entire life behind things, and... this incredibly benevolent force, that wanted me to know there was no reason to be afraid, ever. Video's a poor excuse, I know. But it helps me remember... and I need to remember... Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world I feel like I can't take it, like my heart's going to cave in."
"... I guess I could be pretty pissed off about what happened to me... but it's hard to stay mad, when there's so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I'm seeing it all at once, and it's too much, my heart fills up like a balloon that's about to burst... And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life... You have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm sure. But don't worry... you will someday."
There's so much I can say about this movie. I thought it was pure brilliant; the acting, the costumes, the graphics, everything. A movie like this doesn't come around too often.
Ok, I must first start out by saying that this movie is not for everyone. It had great actors that drew you in. Knowing that it's based on a true story makes it even more disturbing. This movie was just amazing overall.
Ah, this was my kinda movie and I totally loved it for several reasons. It's hard to pinpoint them though. But a few of them were the whole atmosphere of it and, of course, the great acting. Michael Douglas plays an amazingly touching character and the ending is kinda bittersweet. Both Douglas and Evan Rachel Wood play a great pair. This movie definitely stuck with me for awhile. I highly recommend this.
Wow, this was very confusing. But, with a little help from explainations on the internet, the theory I'm going with makes this movie pretty damn good. Everything (well, mostly everything) seems to fall into place.
Oh. My. God. This movie was just, wow. Requiem For A Dream was pure brilliance. My heart has never pounded so hard during a movie as it did with this one. Amazing<3.
I loved so many things about this movie. I especially enjoyed the whole thing about your soul being an animal and always walking beside you. Brilliant.
I fucking loved this movie. This movie is definitely not for everyone and you have to see things through a child's perspective to get it. This was such a refreshing movie and there's no others like it.
Amazing but heartbreaking movie about human trafficking. People should be more aware that this happens in the United States too, not just in Third World countries.
Astonishing! Everyone should watch this movie ... seriously. If you have ever inquired about what your purpose of life may be and things like that, then you should definitely check this out.
