The Great Escape (1963,  Unrated)
The Great Escape
Gorgeously acted and a great prisoner-of-war action film!
2
Bande à part (Band of Outsiders) (1964,  Unrated)
Bande à part (Band of Outsiders)
a really cool style of filming and very character-driven. some really awesome dialgogues between the characters - as in absurd, but hilarious. one of my favourite films. (i am also in love with anna karina)
3
From Russia With Love (1964,  PG)
From Russia With Love
The most cinematically sweeping and adventurous of James Bond films, bar none. And Tatiana Romanova is what I'm talkin about!
4
Dog Day Afternoon (1975,  R)
5
The Italian Job (1969,  G)
6
Léon (The Professional) (1994,  R)
7
Reservoir Dogs (1992,  R)
Reservoir Dogs
Not just a movie - an experience! Dialogue as sharp as the devil himself and a really intriguing story structure that makes me watch it over and over again to find new things.
8
Pulp Fiction (1994,  R)
Pulp Fiction
The ultimate crime movie that makes criminals us and us criminals. John Travolta and Sam Jackson are incredibly cool, but still just regular guys. Absolutely brilliant.
9
The Dirty Dozen (1967,  Unrated)
The Dirty Dozen
Lee Marvin. Telly Savalas. John Cassavetes. Jim Brown. Charles Bronson. Lee Marvin's hard-assed reform of a bunch of murderers and criminals combines a prison movie with a war movie that achieves nothing less than greatness.
10
Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991,  R)
Terminator 2: Judgment Day
I grew up on this movie as a child and it is still COOL, SCARY, AND FUNNY! The greatest is the bar scene at the beginning before "Bad To The Bone" plays. "You forgot to say please."
11
The Killing (1956,  Unrated)
12
Dreams (Akira Kurosawa's Dreams) (Yume) (1990,  PG)
Dreams (Akira Kurosawa's Dreams) (Yume)
absolutely gorgeous journey through colour and through the human spirit. requires patience to watch, as kurosawa's pacing is very slow and deliberate. a masterpiece in choreography, colour, theme and love of filmmaking.
13
Blazing Saddles (1974,  R)
14
Rashômon (Rashomon) (In the Woods) (1951,  Unrated)
Rashômon (Rashomon) (In the Woods)
This movie commands my utmost admiration and respect with its maze of a plotline and spine-tingling performances. Toshiro Mifune (one of my favourite actors in cinema) plays a great thief!
15
Once Upon a Time in the West (C'era una volta il West) (1968,  PG-13)
Once Upon a Time in the West (C'era una volta il West)
After Leone's "Dollars" trilogy, this movie is his bittersweet 'farewell' to the films of the west. With landscapes as breathtaking as John Ford's cinematography, and a cold-blooded story with high-riding performances, this is probably the Casablanca of westerns!
16
True Romance (1993,  R)
17
Mean Streets (1973,  R)
Mean Streets
Damn, I wish I watched this sooner! One of Scorsese's first films in the apex of his visual style, adorning his thematically explorative story on the streets of New York's toilet seat. The characters are really great! Harvey Keitel, ho yes!
18
The Party (1968,  PG)
The Party
Simple but an absolute laugh! If for nothing else, watch this movie for Peter Sellers' portrayal of his east Indian character! His subtle and ridiculous gestures are what drive the humour home and make this a loveable film!
19
Austin Powers - International Man of Mystery (1997,  PG-13)
Austin Powers - International Man of Mystery
Wickedly original and gut-busting spoof! Just Mike Myers' timing and off-beat expressions are worth it.
20
Dawn of the Dead (1979,  R)
Dawn of the Dead
Ten points for social satire, Georgie! Jesus himself couldn't make a better zombie movie! Wickedly smart & funny man! You will enjoy! (very gory though)
21
Obsession (1976,  PG)
22
The Guns of Navarone (1961,  PG)
23
Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977,  PG)
Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope
One of the best samurai movies ever made - IN SPACE!!! The quintessential adventure movie that becomes a playground for your imagination.
24
Circle of Iron (1979,  R)
Circle of Iron
David Carradine and Eli Wallach lift this already adventurous tale (penned by Bruce Lee and James Coburn) to high theatrical status as an action-packed retelling of the Buddha's "four passing sights." One of my favourites!
25
Harakiri (1964,  Unrated)
Harakiri
SO damn good, it'll have you laughing your face off at the beginning, then wishing you hadn't by the end.
26
Dirty Mary Crazy Larry (1974,  PG)
27
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (Il Buono, il Brutto, il Cattivo.) (1966,  R)
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (Il Buono, il Brutto, il Cattivo.)
Sergio Leone's humane ass-kicker of an adventure! Has you laughing one moment, squirming the next, and wanting to wear a duster the rest of the time!
