Zombi 2 (Zombie) (Zombie Flesh Eaters) (Zombie 2: The Dead are Among Us)(Island of the Flesh-Eaters)
While it was clear that this movie was made to cash in on the success of George A Romero's Dawn Of The Dead aka Dario Argento's Zombi this plays more like some sort of unodfficiial prequel but does not take the DOTD themes on board to the extent of Mattei's genre entry which lifted the who SWAT thing.

This movie represents the pinaccle of the spaghetti zombie craze of the early 1980s but since the other notable genre entries came from Bianchi, D'Amato and Mattei this was hardly surprising.

A pretty solid film. This was once banned in Britain during the video nasties scare but in truth its simply great fun and worthy of repeat viewing.

Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! (1965,  R)
Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!
This is an absolutely icon rural roughie with so much memorable dialogue and drama. Surprisingly this was not initially a success for Meyer but has since won over fans of drive in and grindhouse cinema. The Bostweeds theme song was later covered by The Cramps.

The Eroticist (,  Unrated)

Il Cittadino si ribella (Street Law) (1974,  Unrated)
10
Milano Calibro 9 (Caliber 9) (1972,  Unrated)

Django (1966,  Unrated)
Django
Essential dark Italian western with so many good ideas including a band of red hooded klansman style baddies and a machine gun being dragged about in a coffin. Flawless perforrmance from Franco Nero as the egnimatic and eponymous Django.
12
Antropophagus (The Zombie's Rage)(The Grim Reaper)(Anthropophagous: The Beast) (1980,  R)
Antropophagus (The Zombie's Rage)(The Grim Reaper)(Anthropophagous: The Beast)
While admittedly this is by no means a film for everyone fans of Italian genre film of the 70s and early 80s should appreciate the pacing of this sick little puppy of a film.

The major shock final segment was the result of a discussion between the writer and star George Eastman and director D'Amato about what could be the sickest thing they could put in a movie- but while its all pretty sick D'Amato trumps this with Buio Omega and Emanuelle in America.

2019 - Dopo la caduta di New York (After the Fall of New York) (1983,  R)
2019 - Dopo la caduta di New York (After the Fall of New York)
Fans of Italian post apocalyptic mayhem will love this one. Features George Eastman as Big Ape a hairy mutant hybrid. For more similar check out Joe D'Amato's Endgame and Enzo Castellari's golfcarttastic New Barbarians.

This incidentally is one of only four films made by the excellent Michael Blastfighter Sopkiw.
14
The Big Bird Cage (Women's Penitentiary II) (1972,  R)
The Big Bird Cage (Women's Penitentiary II)
Funnier than the Big Dolls House this film features some excellent interplay between Sid Haig and Pam Grier. Probably more fun and less earnest then many of the WIP flicks this one leaves its serious side at the door.
15
Revolver (1973,  G)
Revolver
One of the best of a genre that has produced some absolutely dynamite movies. Along with Street Law, Milano Calabro 9 and Quelli della calibro 38 this is as great as it gets folks
16
La Corta notte delle bambole di vetro (Short Night of the Glass Dolls) (1971,  Unrated)
La Corta notte delle bambole di vetro (Short Night of the Glass Dolls)
Absolutely sublime giallo from the the delightful Aldo Late Night Trains Lado.

La Vittima Designata (The Designated Victim) (1971,  Unrated)
La Vittima Designata (The Designated Victim)
Delightfully scripted take on the Strangers On A Train theme featuring top notch performances and use of locations.
18
Cry of a Prostitute (1974,  Unrated)
Cry of a Prostitute
Henry Silva is excellent in this as a mob hit man called to intervene in a Sicillian gang war. While possessing none of the flair of the Godfather Trilogy it does, similar to The Godfather series get a certain vibe from it's Sicillian setting.
19
L'Ultimo treno della notte (Night Train Murders)(Xmas Massacre)(Don't Ride on Late Night Trains) (1975,  R)
20
Non si sevizia un paperino (Don't Torture a Duckling)(Don't Torture Donald Duck) (1972,  Unrated)
21
Quelli della calibro 38 (Colt 38 Special Squad) (1976,  Unrated)
Quelli della calibro 38 (Colt 38 Special Squad)
While possibly not as polished as Fernano DiLeo's Milano Calibro 9 it has to be said that Colt 38 Special Squad is probably one the most entertaining of the the Italian violent crime or poliziottesco genre movies. Under the direction of Massimo Dallamano who brought the world such delights as Venus In Furs and What Have The Done To Solange? this time we get treated to breakneck motorbike chases, formidable stuntwork and a surprisingly brutal and wince inducing scene. This along with aforementioned Milano Calibro 9 Rabid Dogs, Almost Human and Castellarii's Stret Law probably represent the perfect dropping in point for any who wish to explore this delightful genre of film further
22
Le Ballon Rouge (The Red Balloon) (1956,  Unrated)
Le Ballon Rouge (The Red Balloon)
A precious and beautiful short movie that while light on dialogue is able through a fanstastic visual rendering of the narrative to draw the viewer into this heartwarming tale. Recommended.

Peur sur la Ville (Fear Over the City) (The Night Caller) (1975,  Unrated)
24
Avere vent'anni (To Be Twenty) (1978,  Unrated)
