Amelie (Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain)
by Fabio"Amelie" is like a colorful modern time fairy tale about a innocent and naive girl who has some very weird hobbies, falling in love with some other guy that has some weird hobbies himself. As a matter of fact just about every character in this film is pretty odd, like some cartoon characters although the film itself is very colorful. One day Amelie finds a box with some old guys childhood belonging in it and decides to return it to him and if he is grateful, she would help others as well. And during her journey of trying to help others, she falls for a guy who has hobbies of collecting other peoples photos in photo booths that has been tossed away. This is a colorful, bright, funny and delightful romantic film that kids can enjoy it as well despite 2 very short nude scenes that can be fast forward. It was a magical experience that leaves the audience feel lighter, even if Amelie may seem like a bit of a stalker but that is forgotten cause of the film's charm and since the lead actress doesn't appear to be a psycho. I also enjoyed the film's cinematography very much, more than the typical Hollywood style. It maybe a bit overrated but isn't bad as some claim it to be, I think the people that do bash on this film, bash it for being too positive.

Dirty Harry
by FabioJust like his Westerns and Spagetti Western's Dirty Harry is one of his classic movies, Dirty Harry has witty dialogue, a cool catchphrase, the most powerful handgun in the world and a interesting plot. The acting is great, Clint Eastwood's performance has Dirty Harry is fantastic, he's performance inspired many other tough cops like John McClane in Die Hard and Martin Riggs in Lethal Weapon, Andrew Robinson is great as the Scorpio Killer, he makes the character look so normal yet he's so insane especially on the school bus. Dirty Harry has a classic 70's music score that goes with the pace, the sound effect for Harry's gun is cool and makes it sound like the most powerful handgun in the world.

The Enemy Below
by FabioSplendid double character study of commanders at war, superbly
played by two consummate actors, supported by an able cast,
utilizing an intelligent script by Wendell Mayes; spare, men only
direction by the gifted Dick Powell; and beautifully filmed at sea by
a crackerjack crew. Not a slow or dull moment in its 98 minutes, a
textbook example of how such things should be done, but seldom
are. Mitchum and Jergens give career perfs, the ending is
magnificent, the closing line a proper epilogue.posted 48 days ago -

Twelve O'Clock High
by FabioTwelve O'Clock High is exceptional in every way. It is very similar to the excellent movie Command Decision, but goes deeper into the emotional and psychological cost of commanding the bombing campaign against Nazi Germany. Whereas Gable is all alone and hated in Command Decision, Peck goes a step further and actually goes on bombing runs with his men--only to become deeply scarred emotionally in the process. As a result, this movie is a fantastic look at the psychological effects of war--something that only rarely gets addressed in war movies.

Grosse Pointe Blank
by QuintoEverytime I watch one of his movies, I feel more and more sure that John Cuscack is the most likeable and charismatic actor ever. He can take any character and make him sympathetic. This was an absolute blast, hilarious movie full of memorable quotes.

Strictly Sinatra
by NicolaïThere's something about the movie that makes me thing about all the other ordinary movies, this movie has nothing special, nothing new, just one of those movies you see and hear about all day long. For a movie about one of my favorite artists they could at least played a song with his voice our even hang a poster at some fucking wall somewhere, afterall the title of the movie is 'Strictly Sinatra' but they dont go further then mentioning his name a few times and a guy with a soulless voice covering his songs.

9
by QuintoThis movie freaked me out because I'm a very paranoid person who thinks technology will literally take over us one day. Though most plot elements from 9 have appeared in countless other movies, it manages to be refreshing thanks to its avan-garde animation (the serpent-like thing scared the shit out of me!), characters you want to root for and action scenes that really get you worked up.

Goodbye Solo
by QuintoI knew next to nothing about this movie before watching it and was completely surprised at how much it moved me. Both main characters are loneliness personified and it's very touching and intriguing to see how their paths cross. It has a very genuine humanity to it.

Heaven's Gate
by Nikolasa masterpiece ! but forgotten ! some say that was a very long movie , and it is .
but when it played , people were ready to see a long film ...that age we have movies over 120 min. we have until 180 min . anyway , the gate to the west , with a brilliand cast , and expencive production " did not walk "posted 50 days ago -
I recommend you see...Brilliant film. Ballast is a subdued and poetic examination of the effects of a suicide on three people in the Mississippi Delta. This is such a humanistic piece of work by Lance Hammer and his cast of nonactors.it was released last year playing on the festival circuits but got no wide release. Look for it on DVD. One of the best films I've seen this year.

I recommend you see...Audrey Hepburn is RADIANT!
Breakfast at Tiffany's
by MarkA radiant Audrey Hepburn highlights this adaptation of the Truman Capote novella about a carefree woman who cannot commit to anyone or anything. She can't even bring herself to name her cat. Indeed it is a tribute to Audrey Hepburn's talent that she can make this shallow, chain smoking, shoplifting, gold digging drunk, so utterly charming. There is real vulnerability here. Nevertheless, this light, frothy flight of fancy is extremely overrated and awfully dated (Mickey Rooney's exaggerated performance is an embarrassment). However, the vividly eccentric characters and the luxurious style of it all, is captivating.

The Men Who Stare at Goats
by scottmcgregor and clooney are exellent together, in a interesting war satire, mcgregor is a bored reporter, wanting to get into irak, here through some fate set up earliar, he meets lyn, a former soldier of the first earth betallion, sort of hippy trained andnon lethal techniques, brought into us army in the 80s, hes in irak also, a bit unclear why, sothe two hook up, and go on a adventure, and throughflash backs see how this came to be, a interesting story, possibly true, and in parts funny, clooney reliable as ever, and mcgregor, shock horror good as a american, the story is engageing throughout. with a great cast. bridges, and spacey rounding it off. another great thing and funny thing here. cloney telling mcgregor that they were jedis, and mcgregor once a jedi knight of cours, trying to get a grasp of this concept, makes the film film funnier, just because of the casting ofewen mcgregor, exellent

Jennifer's Body
by scottfrom the mind of diablo cody, who wrote the really good juno, comes another winning script, amanda seyfield plays a geeky girl, whos has a bit of a crush on her sexy schoolmate played exellently by megan fox, but one night her mate, while making it witha up and coming indieband, disapears into the night, and reapears all bloody and acting rather strange and strangethings happening, she has turned into a demon women, due to the band trying to sacrifice her for fae and fortune, as indie bands do. and now she must feed, prefably on young high school males, now its up to the gekky one to get sence ofall thisand put a stop, to it, or not let her feelings destroy things, like heathers some 20 years before, the script by diablo is razorsharp liketarentino, diablo, has a signiture, and throughout, you see her words comeout, speaking the mind of todays youth, the filmis also a great atempt at teen horror, and although not all out gore, there are some moments, andcertainly the best ofthe bunch these.days. fox and seyfield, play there roles well, and shows foxisjust not a object to look at, andthe band also, tell me dont you think they are inspired by the killers, especially the lead singer. so much crap teen horrors come out these days, its good to se one can come along that has great writing andhorror elements

I recommend you see...Of course I never send out recommendations but "never say never" is a motto to live by and so we make exceptions when necessity dictates. And it does here. Not everyone will get Bright Star - I'm certain of that it. But give it a chance and some of you might be pleasantly surprised.
I was.
Bright Star
by WilliamI find it hard to talk about this one without it bringing a lump to my throat.
This kind of achingly beautiful and unashamedly romantic tale is deeply unfashionable now and it's such a crying shame. Campion has surely bested herself here with this subtle and divinely lyrical love poem - so making 'The Piano' feel almost like galumphing over-ripe melodrama in comparison.
I'm sure that much of today's impatient audience will be snoring into their popcorn at Campion's leisurely and smoldering drip drip pace. And the long scene's of poetry reading (it's no mean feat to read poetry with emotional conviction so Whishaw and Cornish should be cherished for sure), the quiet and often silent moments heavy with bated breath and the melancholy longueurs of love unrequited will sorely test the patience of many.
But us hopeless romantics will (quietly) cheer and find rich rewards. Bright Star has a precious, almost nameless, quality that will linger in your heart and consciousness long after it's utterly sublime credit sequence has faded and I really do pity those that don't fall under its mesmerising spell.
