My Favorite Movies

  Oliba's Rating My Rating
1
A Clockwork Orange (1971,  R)
A Clockwork Orange
A triumphant achievment. Novel and stimulating dialogue and narration. Moral quandries are explored. This is not for the faint of heart.
2
Onegin (1999,  Unrated)
Onegin
Love stories can't get more painful to witness than this Pushkin long poem of pride and self denial.
3
The Elephant Man (1980,  PG)
The Elephant Man
Pure genius and can be ranked alongside My Left Foot for it's empathetic treatment of the physically disabled. I own this.
4
V for Vendetta (2006,  R)
V for Vendetta
The Phantom of the Opera just got a whole lot more Orwellian and Martial in his Arts!
5
Napoleon Dynamite (2004,  PG)
Napoleon Dynamite
I enjoyed his not altogether misplaced superiority complex. "It's probably the best drawing I've ever done,!" had me in stitches.
6
Iris (2001,  R)
Iris
I'd rewatch it again and again. I thought Kate Winslet couldn't act and this movie proved me very, very wrong. I long to read Murdoch's novels.
7
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind (2004,  R)
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
Kaufmann thinks outside the box and you have to too to understand this broken up breakup.
8
Dr. Strangelove Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964,  PG)
Dr. Strangelove Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb
Peter Sellers acts alongside himself in many compelling roles. This movie is a breakthrough for cold war satire.
9
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998,  R)
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
I peed myself laughing aver the drug addled shenanigans commited by desperate lost causes. This is Benicio Del Toro's best role to date.
