Trainspotting is a 1996 British film directed by Danny Boyle based on the novel Trainspotting by Irvine Welsh. The movie is about a group of heroin addicts in late 1980s Edinburgh and their passage through life. It stars Ewan McGregor as Mark Renton, Ewen Bremner as Spud, Jonny Lee Miller as Sick Boy, Kevin McKidd as Tommy, Robert Carlyle as Begbie and Kelly Macdonald as Dianne. Author Irvine Welsh also has a brief appearance as hapless drug dealer Mikey Forrester.
The Academy Award-nominated screenplay, by John Hodge, was adapted from Welsh's novel. It does not contain any references to the non-drug-related hobby of train spotting. The title is a reference to an episode in the original book (not included in the film) where Begbie and Renton meet "an auld drunkard" in the disused Leith Central railway station, which they are visiting to use as a toilet. He asks them, in a weak attempt at a joke, if they are "trainspottin'"
A wild, freeform, Rabelaisian trip through the darkest recesses of Edinburgh low-life, focusing on Mark Renton and his attempt to give up his heroin habit, and how the latter affects his relationship with family and friends: Sean Connery wannabe Sick Boy, dimbulb Spud, psycho Begbie, 14-year-old girlfriend Diane, and clean-cut athlete Tommy, who's never touched drugs but can't help being curious about them...

Based on a true story. After graduating from Emory University in 1992, top student and athlete Christopher McCandless abandoned his possessions, gave his entire $24,000 savings account to charity and hitchhiked to Alaska to live in the wilderness. Along the way, Christopher encounters a series of characters who shape his life
Two years he walks the earth. No phone, no pool, no pets, no cigarettes. Ultimate freedom. An extremist. An aesthetic voyager whose home is the road. So now, after two rambling years comes the final and greatest adventure. The climactic battle to kill the false being within and victoriously conclude the spiritual revolution. No longer to be poisoned by civilization, he flees, and walks alone upon the land to become lost in the wild. -Alexander Supertramp, May 1992.
Cover of paperback, depicting the bus in which McCandless stayed before his death.
My review
PERFECT.
Definitely one of my favourite movie of all times . I admire him so much for his courage that he had to do this , to accomplish his dream . A lot of people these days choose to stick to the society , to have the perfect career , perfect family , perfect life even though life isnt about that . Nowadays the money has invaded our mind and we started to forget the beauty of the life . Anyways , its a touching movie based on a true story of a man who made his dream become reality . Its a must see , maybe it will change your thinking.

In the 1970s, a group of apathetic teen surfers from a rough neighbourhood known as "Dogtown" in Venice, California, created a cultural revolution by transforming skateboarding from a recreational activity into an extreme sport.
When a shipment of urethane wheels arrives at Venice's Zephyr Surf/Skate Shop (traded by Mitch Hedberg's character to the owner of the shop for marijuana) the owner, Skip Engblom, played by Heath Ledger, puts together a team of local layabout skaters to compete.
Known as the Zephyr Skateboard Team, the boys transferred their surf skills to drain pipes and empty swimming pools with stunning results. Their acrobatic maneuvers inspired generations of teens to join the skateboarding frenzy and catapulted them to fame and fortune.
The movie is based on the real rise of skateboarding started by Stacy Peralta, Tony Alva and Jay Adams. It follows their friendship, the rise and fall of the Zephyr skateboarding team and the tragic loss of one of their friends, Sid, to brain cancer. It follows their rise to fame and the struggle to stay on top as they begin to turn on each other.
The movie has a soundtrack (Lords of Dogtown: Music From the Motion Picture) featuring songs by Black sabbath, David Bowie, T-Rex, Jimi Hendrix, and Iggy Pop, among others, as well as The Clash's "Death or Glory" being covered by Social Distortion.
Stacy: Skip called me bro!
Kathy: Skip called you bro?
Stacy: Yeah, he said bro!
Kathy: No, he didn't.
Stacy: Yes, he did. He said you look hungry, bro. Kathy: He said you look hungry, bro?
Stacy: Yes, totally!
Kathy: Skip Engbloom doesn't call anybody bro. [laughs]

Well , its definitely one of my fav movies ever . I loved it . It is based on the true story of the legendary Z-boys . All the actros gave an amazing performance especially Emile Hirsch . He's always doing a great job . I think it is the best skateboarding movie EVER. You should REALLY see this and wait till the end of the credits so you can see the real guys this story is based on and also pay attention at the cameo performances cos some of the guys are the z-boys. At least watch the movie for the brilliant performance that Heathcliff Ledger gave .
Donnie Darko is a paranoid schizophrenic anti-social teenager having therapy and using medication. He has visions of a giant rabbit, Frank, the Fuzzy Bunny, who instructs him to make violent acts, like destroying the fire hydrant and piping of his high-school (like in Graham Greene's book, which text was read in his English class), or burning the house of the hypocrite Jim Cunningham. Further, he predicts the doomsday and is very interested in time travel through the wormhole.
I SOOOO LOVED IT <3 . is my fav psychological thriller .

The Dark Knight is a 2008 American superhero film co-written and directed by Christopher Nolan. Based on the DC Comics character Batman, the film is a sequel to Batman Begins (2005). Christian Bale reprises the lead role. Batman's primary conflicts in the film include his fight against the Joker (Heath Ledger) and his strained friendship with district attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart).
For his conception of the film, Nolan was inspired by the Joker's first two appearances in the comics and Batman: The Long Halloween. The Dark Knight was filmed primarily in Chicago (as was Batman Begins), as well as in several other locations in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Hong Kong. The director used an IMAX camera to film six major action sequences, including the Joker's first appearance in the film. The Batsuit was redesigned, with a cowl allowing Bale to move his head. The film also introduces a recreation of the Batcycle, known as the Batpod.
Warner Bros. created an aggressive viral marketing campaign for The Dark Knight, developing promotional websites and trailers highlighting screenshots of Heath Ledger as the Joker. After Ledger's death in January 2008, however, the studio refocused its promotional campaign. The film was released on July 16, 2008 in Australia, on July 18, 2008 in North America and the Philippines, and will be released on July 24, 2008 in the United Kingdom.
"And here we... go."
Heath Ledger as The Joker: Heath Ledger described the Joker as a "psychopathic, mass murdering, schizophrenic clown with zero empathy".Nolan had wanted to work with Ledger on a number of projects in the past, but had been unable to do so. When Ledger saw Batman Begins, he realized a way to make the character work consistent with that film's tone, and Nolan agreed with his anarchic interpretation. To prepare for the role, Ledger lived alone in a hotel room for a month, formulating the character's posture, voice and psychology, and kept a diary, in which he recorded the Joker's thoughts and feelings to guide himself during his performance. While he initially found it difficult, Ledger was eventually able to generate a voice that did not sound like Jack Nicholson's take on the character in Tim Burton's 1989 Batman film.He was also given Batman: The Killing Joke and Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth to read, which he "really tried to read [...] and put it down". Ledger also cited inspirations such as A Clockwork Orange and Sid Vicious, which were "a very early starting point for Christian [Bale] and I. But we kind of flew far away from that pretty quickly and into another world altogether.". "There's a bit of everything in him. There's nothing that consistent," Ledger said, adding that "There are a few more surprises to him."
"Good evening, ladies and gentle men . We are tonight's entertainment"
The Joker's scruffy and grungy make-up is intended as a reflection of his "edgy" character.
Box office
The Dark Knight opened on July 16, 2008 in Australia and July 18, 2008 with midnight screenings in 3,040 theaters. From the first midnight screenings, the film has earned $18.5 million and has set a new midnight debut record beating Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith which earned $16.9 million.

Ben Campbell is a young, highly intelligent, student at M.I.T. in Boston who strives to succeed. Wanting a scholarship to transfer to Harvard School of Medicine with the desire to become a doctor, Ben learns that he cannot afford the $300,000 for the four to five years of school since he comes from a poor, working-class background. But one evening, Ben is introduced by his unorthodox math professor Micky Rosa into a small but secretive club of five students, Jill, Choi, Kianna, and Fisher whom are being trained by Professor Rosa of the skill of card counting at blackjack.
Intriged by the desire to make money, Ben joins his new friends on secret weekend trips to Las Vegas where, using their skills of code talk and hand signals, they have Ben make hundreds of thousands of dollars in winning blackjack at casino after casino. Ben only wants to make enough money for the tuition to Harvard and then back out. But as fellow card counter, Jill Taylor, predicts, Ben becomes corrupted by greed and his arrogance at winning which lets his feelings get in the way, and it also puts Professor Rosa, as well as the group, on the radar of a brutal casino security enforcer, named Cole Williams, who holds a personal grudge of some kind against Rosa which threatens to undo everything the students have learned and earned.
During some scenes and rehearsals, the director had Mark Ruffalo wear an earpiece to receive his lines from Reese Witherspoon who was not on the set, replicating the situation depicted in the film, where David has to relay Elizabeth's messages to the others who cannot see or hear her.
The original script was much darker to the one in the final film. In the original, Mandella (Kat's best friend) referred openly and frequently to several suicide attempts, which were for her to join with William Shakespeare.
Afraid that kids would try releasing their pet fish by flushing them down a drain, a company that manufactures equipment used by water filtration and sewage treatment plants released a warning the Thursday after the film came out saying that, even though drains do eventually reach the ocean, before it got there the water would go through equipment which breaks down solids, and went on to say that in real life the movie would more appropriately be called "Grinding Nemo".
Although the part was written especially for Macaulay Culkin by John Hughes, several hundred other boys were auditioned by director Chris Columbus just because he wanted to confirm that Culkin was right for the part.
When Max asks his father, "If I keep making this face, will it get stuck that way?", and Fletcher replies, "No. In fact, some people make a good living that way", he was obviously referring to himself.

When he punches his Spanish teacher at school, he is sentenced to three months of house-arrest during his vacations. Kale snoops his neighbors with a binoculars and video camera for killing time, and becomes a voyeur of his next door neighbor Ashley Carlson. The trio sneaks around his house, and Kale begins to suspect that Mr. Turner might really be the murderer.

Kale: Yeah, video games... This is my friend, Ronnie. Ronald. Say hi, Ronald.
Ronnie: Hi, Ronald.
Kale:[Whispers] You are so stupid. [To Ashley] So, what brings you here? To my house?
Ashley: I got locked out.
Kale: Oh, that sucks.
Ronnie: It's a tragedy.

Ashley: Are you spying on the neighbors, Kale?

The "after 7 years Allie and Noah" scenes were shot first and then the crew/cast went on a Christmas break. Ryan Gosling had to lose the beard and 20lbs he'd had as the older Noah and come back to play the young Noah. Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling were rather shy and unsure around each other in the "after 7 years" scenes but were more comfortable together in the young Allie and Noah scenes

When Sidney comes out of the closet and stabs Billy with an umbrella, the stunt man was supposed to hit a pad on Skeet Ulrich's chest. The first hit got the pad but the second one slipped and hit him in the chest (you can see it in his reaction). Wes Craven kept it in because of its authenticity.

Eight of the nine members of the Fellowship got a small tattoo of the word "nine" spelled out in Tengwar, which is the Elvish script created by Tolkien. They got it at a tattoo parlor in Wellington, New Zealand, to commemorate the experience of the movie. The ninth member, John Rhys-Davies, declined and sent his stunt double in his place. Elijah Wood's tattoo is on his lower stomach. Sean Astin and Billy Boyd have the tattoo on their ankles (to commemorate all those hours in the hobbit feet). Orlando Bloom, who plays the archer elf Legolas, has his on his forearm. His tattoo is visible during a fight scene in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003). Ian McKellen's is on his shoulder. Dominic Monaghan's is on his shoulder. And the eighth member, Sean Bean, has his tattoo on his right shoulder. Viggo Mortensen has his tattoo on his left shoulder. It is visible on some pictures from the movie Eastern Promises (2007)

Elijah Wood dressed up in breeches and a flowing shirt and went out into the hills to shoot his audition tape. His friend George Huang, directed the video.
In the wide shots of Legolas, Aragorn and Gimli running after the Orcs, all three performers are running injured. Orlando Bloom had a couple of broken ribs (from a fall off a horse); Viggo Mortensen had a broken toe (from kicking the helmet in the Orcs funeral pyre scene); and Brett Beattie (Gimli's stunt double) had a knee injury. Peter Jackson said that all three were very dedicated and continued to film the scene, often yelling "ouch" or "ow" after "cut" was called.
~
Orlando Bloom originally auditioned for the role of Faramir.
Each of the cast members was given a gift on their last day of shooting, usually a prop that was significant to their roles. Miranda Otto received one of Eowyn's dresses and her sword, Liv Tyler received Arwen's "dying dress", Orlando Bloom got one of Legolas' bows.

Orlando Bloom's big heroic scene atop the Mumakil was shot in just one day. Bloom was filmed on top of a pile of sandbags.

In Middletown, at 11:14 PM, two cars accidents happen at the same time, affecting the lives of five different groups of people. A drunken driver hits a man in a lonely road near a bridge; three young men hits a woman with a van, one of the passenger has a severed penis while another man on the road shoots them; a young man robs a convenience store, with the support of the clerk; a man finds a body in a cemetery and gets rid off it; and a young woman pretending to be pregnant tries to raise money for an abortion. All of these characters and their fates are very connected.
Many lines or actions by Sean Penn's character Sam are improvised, for example the end of the scene at the new restaurant where Sam shouts "Ask Big Bob!", or the dog-scene. The producers liked many of these improvised scenes much better than the original book.
Much of the movie's soundtrack includes music from the band Switchfoot, who at the time were really only recognized in their native San Diego, and in Contemporary Christian music circles. Mandy Moore was a huge fan of the band, and had a great deal of influence in their participation on the film. When they were approached to do the film however, the guys really had no idea who Moore was, and weren't familiar with her music (despite her status as a pop star with several hits on the charts).

Reality Bites is a 1994 film written by Helen Childress and featuring the directorial debut of Ben Stiller. It stars Stiller, Winona Ryder, and Ethan Hawke, with major supporting roles played by Janeane Garofalo and Steve Zahn. The film was shot on location in Austin (where Childress' high school is located), and Houston, Texas in 42 days. The plot is centered on Lelaina (Ryder), an aspiring videographer working on a documentary called Reality Bites about the disenfranchised lives of her friends and roommates (Hawke, Garofalo, and Zahn), and to a certain degree, about Lelaina herself. Their challenges, both documented and not, exemplify some of the career and lifestyle choices faced by Generation X.
In this study of Generation X manners, Lelaina, the valedictorian of her college class, camcords her friends in a mock documentary of posteducation life. Troy is her best friend, a perpetually unemployed musical slacker. Vickie is a manager at the Gap who worries about the results of an AIDS test, while Sammy has problems grappling with his sexuality. When Lelaina meets Michael, an earnest video executive who takes her homemade video to his MTV-like station, she must decide what she values--the materialism of yuppie Michael or the philosophical musings of Troy.
Lelaina: Well, I know this sounds cornball but I'd like to somehow make a difference in people's lives.
Troy: And I... I would like to buy them all a Coke.

After trying to work things out but coming to no conclusion, both Nell and Woody, inside each others bodies, begin ruining each others lives. But after all this bickering, both of them soon discover that if they work together and help each other, a happy ending might turn out after all.

The psychological thriller THE I INSIDE features the uncertainty and anxiety of time-traveling and amnesia films such as THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT and MEMENTO. Ryan Phillippe stars as Simon, who awakens in a hospital with no memory of the last two years. When he discovers that his brother Peter (Robert Sean Leonard) is dead and that he is married to Anna (Piper Perabo), a woman he has no recollection of, he sets out to discover what has happened to him and why he cannot remember it. Both helping and frustrating his investigation is the fact that he seems to be shifting back and forth between the present and the time before his memory loss. Is he really traveling through time, or is his amnesia just the sign of a greater madness? THE I INSIDE is a time hopping film that maintains its ambiguity until the very end.

According to Michael Mann, Vincent is one that is able to get in and out of anywhere without anyone recognizing him or remembering him. To prepare for the movie, Tom Cruise had to make FedEx deliveries in a crowded LA market without anyone recognizing him as Tom Cruise.
The actors playing the Green Street Hooligans had to work out with the production's trainer for four or five hours every day. The trainer, Pat E. Johnson, had most of the actors throwing up, he was working them so hard. A typical day would involve basic strength and fitness training for about two hours, followed by choreographing of the fight sequences. Rehearsals would take place in the afternoon, and then in the evening they would all go out drinking (which is probably why most of them were throwing up the next day). Elijah Wood was absented from most of this rigorous schedule to emphasize his outsider status.
The bookcase Langdon knocks over while suffocating in the Library Vault has a label on the side showing it contains books by Leonardo Da Vinci, a clear reference to the previous film.
Wayne Kramer was shocked to find out that the movie got the R rating on the first submission. He states in the DVD commentary that he thought that he would get NC-17, but he luckily didn't.
The role of main character Santiago was originally going to be played by Diego Luna but he left to work on other projects. Kuno Becker actually called Diego before he took the role to hear Diego's reasons for not taking the role.
Both Eldon Henson's and Seth Green's character names (Mick & Pnub) are based on the SNL skit where Eddie Murphy played an illiterate character named Buckwheat, who sang popular (at the time) songs in a way that he wasn't understood half the time. In one skit, he sings the song "Lookin' for Love" and sings "Wookin' pa nub in a da wong paces..." It can be heard on the commentary that both Mick's and Pnub's names are based on this skit. (If you say "Mick & Pnub" quickly it almost sounds exactly alike.)

When Anton, stunned after killing his two friends, walks into a support beam in his house, the thudding noise his body makes was not digitally added in after production - this is Devon Sawa actually walking into the solid-wood support beam. Often, when the cast would do a photo shoot or had to re-shoot a scene after this one, Devon would start off by walking into the support beam over and over again to the point that editors working below the stage started to wonder what the noise was.
Steven Spielberg was attached to this project and wanted Jack Nicholson to star, but dropped out due to his full schedule, soon after which Tim Burton signed on.
Ewan McGregor was cast as Young Ed Bloom when producers noticed the striking similarity between him and pictures of a young Albert Finney, who plays Senior Ed Bloom.
It has been estimated that the opening title/credit sequence cost more (in unadjusted dollars) than the entire budget of any of the real Edward D. Wood Jr.'s films.
Virtually all of the most bizarre and fascinating scenes in this movie were created with old fashioned camera, editing, lighting and prop/set tricks. The use of digital effects was very limited. The striking kitchen scene with Joel as a child was created with an elaborate forced perspective set-up similar to some used by Peter Jackson in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Director Gabriele Muccino was attracted to the story because it tells of a mysterious personal journey that is, in fact, a true declaration of love. He feels it tells the story of a man consumed by remorse and the pain of having lost a loved one, who finds himself face-to-face with the one thing he expected the least, the opportunity to start again, to live a new life, and that the story is thought-provoking, bold, touching and full of emotion. As such he believes only Will Smith could have been capable of giving the film so much strength.
Wesley Gibson (James McAvoy) is a neurotic accounts manager who works in a small cubical filling out billing reports day in and day out. He allows his boss, his girlfriend, and his best friend to walk all over him. To cope with his life, he takes anti-anxiety pills by the bottle full. Wesley has no desire to change his humdrum life, but one day while getting more pills at the drug store, he meets a beautiful woman, Fox (Angelina Jolie), who changes his life forever.
Fox was sent to protect Wesley from the man who had just killed his father. Fox tells Wesley that his father died yesterday on the rooftop of the Metropolitan Building and that he will be next. Wesley is recruited into the "Fraternity," a secret society of assassins that his father was a member. Fox must train Wesley to bring out his special powers that he was born with in order to avenge his fathers death. The Fraternity's leader, Sloan (Morgan Freeman), also teaches Wesley the ways of the group, and Wesley soon becomes an assassin just like his father.
All is not what it seems, and Gibson finds out that corruption, deceit, and betrayal run deep within the Fraternity. In the course of avenging his father's death, soon he becomes a target, and must fight for his life to take down the Fraternity.

Nicole Kidman saved Hugh Jackman from a poisonous scorpion on the set of their new movie while the actress was about to join Hugh in the bag, she noticed the poisonous scorpion crawling up his leg. She calmly told him not to move and squatted down, scooped the arachnid into her hat and walked over to the woods and released it. Everyone applauded but was asked why she hadn't just stomped on it. She said, 'I would never kill an animal. Every creature here has its purpose. This one just didn't belong in Hugh's bag!'
Bruce Willis tried to contact Matthew Perry to get him to take part in the film while, unbeknownst to him, Perry was on vacation. After a few weeks of trying to get hold of him, Willis left the famous line, "I will chop off your legs, set fire to your house, and watch you drag..." on Perry's answer machine. They thought it was so funny that they included it on the film.
Cameo: [Chris Gardner] The real Chris Gardner appears as the man who walks past Chris and Christopher at the end of the movie.
The homeless people who worked as extras were paid a full day's minimum wage (which is $8.62/hr in SF) and given free catered meals as compensation for appearing in the film. For some it was the first money they'd made in a while.

Disney/Pixar prepared a special trailer for Brother Bear to show before Finding Nemo (2003) during its initial theatrical release. The moose characters, Tuke and Rutt, suggest that, "If you see only one movie this year, see this one." Tuke then reminds Rutt that "for those who see only one movie this year, it's a little late now". Both the moose then encourage everyone who are "only going to see one movie this year" to leave the theater. As the scene fades to black, Rutt says, "I see some of them leaving." Tuke then replies that maybe they're going to "go find that Nemo guy".

Loosely based upon the fable "The Sky is Falling". The story only bears minute similarities to the movie, such as the idea of "the sky is falling" and the rhyming names (Turkey Lurkey, Foxy Loxy, et al). The story was previously adapted by Disney in 1943 as Chicken Little (1943).
During filming, on his second day on the set, Dustin Hoffman lost the tip of a finger in an accident when a folding chair collapsed and dropped him to the floor. Doctors were unable to reattach the finger tip. To manage the pain, Hoffman performed one day of shooting on morphine. In one scene, he keeps his hand in his pocket to hide the bandages.
Johnny Depp used game show hosts as well as children television hosts, such as "Mr. Rogers", as his inspiration for his performance as Willy Wonka. He also said in interviews that Willy Wonka would be "part Howard Hughes-reclusive, part 1970s glamorous rock star".

The phrase "a murder most foul" is taken from William Shakespeare's play "Hamlet," in which it is spoken (rather fittingly, considering "Corpse Bride"'s cast of dead characters) by the ghost of Hamlet's dead father.
Melman the giraffe wears tissue boxes on his feet. This is a reference to Howard Hughes who was also a hypochondriac and suffered OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). In his later years, Hughes wore tissue boxes on his feet believing this would keep away germs.
The problem that John Nash writes on the blackboard in his lecture is a real one (unlike in other movies, where math on boards is usually either too simple or fake). There is an important theorem in mathematical physics that directly says the answer to this is 1. Later, when he discusses the problem with Alicia, he makes additional restrictions for the solution, without which the problem is much harder, so he is pretty confident she didn't solve it.
It was claimed that at the time the real life gangster Jimmy Burke was so happy to have Robert De Niro play him that he phoned him from prison to give him a few pointers. Author/screenwriter Nicholas Pileggi denies this, saying De Niro and Burke had never spoken, but admitting that there were men around the set all the time who had known all of the principal characters very well.
In Stephen King's original story, Red was written as a white Irishman. In the movie, they left the line, "Maybe it's 'cause I'm Irish", in as a joke, even after they had cast Morgan Freeman as Red.

The scene where Ray Liotta asks Johnny Depp where he got the money to pay for Franka Potente's wedding ring, Johnny Depp says "Construction."
