Battle Royale (Batoru Rowaiaru) 4.5 Stars
This movie is surely unforgettable. It's very violent and contains plenty of gore, so be warned. But what had me was the plot and characters. Very original story. Memorable characters (I love Kawada-kun!) Great character developements. Awesome ending song. I love this movie!

I love this movie! One of the Thailand's best! Very original. It may not be scary-scary but very creepy. The mood is nicely terrifying. Good acting by Angelica Lee. I think she did better than Jessica Alba (no offense, Alba-fans).

Uzumaki 3.5 Stars
Not so scary but strangely horrifying. Very very original. I mean, who's ever been obsessed with uzumaki's (vortexes)?? or ever committed suicide by putting himself in a washingmachine? The acting isn't the best and Shuichi could have been better looking. Nice setting. Memorable. :)

Signs (2002,  PG-13)
Signs 5.0 Stars
One of Shyamalan's best! It's one of the best if-this-happens movies! I remember the first time I saw it, I was a beginner at watching scary films. But when I first saw the alien on the TV, the hair on the back of my neck stood up, I became so terrified I could hear my heartbeat ! But near the end, I got over my fear, but I still couldn't sleep that night! lol. Really inspiring (the whole coincidence vs miracle theme). Abigail Breslin was so adorable and Rory Culkin makes an asthma attack look cute. Mel Gibson and Joaquin Pheonix were great as brothers!

Taste of Tea, The (Cha No Aji) 4.5 Stars
Out of all the new released movies on the racks in Potomac Video, this movie was the only one that caught my eye and the only one I actually picked up to read the back summary. It's brilliant! It may be a little slow paced for impatient viewers but I didn't mind at at. I loved the Harunos. Ayano and Grandpa were hilarious. Sachiko was so adorable. Very nicely done. Perfect music. Absolutely loved it.

Chakushin Ari (One Missed Call) (2003,  R)
Chakushin Ari (One Missed Call) 4.5 Stars
Whoohoo this movie is pretty scary, especially at the second half of the film (starting at the "exorcism"). Plenty of o-sugar-honey-ice-tea moments. The story was very confusing though, I wished Miike made the plot more easier to understand. Kou Shibasaki was great as Yumi (also in Battle Royale, she made a perfect antagonist). The ringtone? Unforgettable and creepy. Much more better than the remake ringtone!

Gooood. It makes me think about what "cures" people would discover nowadays. Who knew the "cure" for cancer was gonna kill 99% of the world's population? Creepy "darkseekers", they made me jump. Will Smith was great. <3 this movie.

This is a very original highschool movie. Jon Heder was hilarious! And don't forget Pedro! Great setting. I loved the song in the begining credits (We Are Going To Be Friends by Jack White). I didn't realize that Ligers were real after watching this movie. "Can I have you tater-tots?" lol

El Orfanato (The Orphanage) 5.0 Stars
I loved this movie! It's really terrifying. I loved how the director created such a horrifying mood in the story. Great suspense. Plenty of jumpy scenes. The story was very clever and well told. I was hoping there would be English dubbing, but I was ok with the Spanish dub and English subtitles. I loved the symbolism, the games, and setting (the house was creepy). The acting was very believable and Oscar-worthy (especially the amazing Belen Rueda). It kept me at the edge of my seat- I mean couch- the entire time. I was screaming near the end. The ending? You just got to see for yourself!

Forrest Gump 5.0 Stars
"Run Forrest, run!" . "Mama always said life was like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get." . "I love you Jenny." Ah, the most memorable quotes in that movie. I never grew tired of watching it when it gets shown on TV every year. Tom Hank's performance (and voice) is so Oscar-worthy. I loved Bubba. I loved how Forrest overcame almost any obstacle and all the serendipities he encountered in his life, it was such a great journey to watch. Haley Joel Osment was sooo adorable!

Eduardo Verįstegui and Tammy Blanchard had a great chemistry and acted so well. The little girls were adorable. Nice symbolism and object significance. It had some funny parts to it too.

This movie is AWESOME. It reeks of awesomeness! One of my favorite animated kung-fu movies! Po was hilarious (i could see Jack Black in him) and adorable and pudgy and fun and adorable! I was impressed by the other celebrities who voiced the other characters. I loved the moral and message it had, especially Master Oogway's (the turle sage) quote. The storyline is great, the animation is amazing, and the kung-fu action was cool. GET READY TO FEEL THE THUNDA!!!

This supposedly foreign (french) movie has blown me away, just like the Spanish ghost movie The Orphange. The surprise elements were amazing. The filmakers made ordinary noises sound so terrifying! The acting was impressive, especially from Olivia Bonamy. The effects were great. But what scared the heck outta me and disturbed me so much was who THEM turned out to be in the end! Definetely a must-see!

Memories 4.5 Stars
Magnetic Rose: this one is proly my favorite out of the three. its so original! the visuals were so unique and imaginative i remember my mouth hanging open while watching it. its sooo good. its such a haunting story.
Stink Bomb: this one is the funniest of the three. i wanted the guy to die though. i was laughing my head off when the soldiers were running for their lives. the ending was a bit disappointing cuz i didn't want it to end that way.
Cannon Fodder: this one's ok. it can get boring because of its length but the idea of a city covered with cannons whose society shoots cannon balls at an unknown enemy for life is pretty cool.
