Amelie (Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain) - R Magical, wonderful. Smiled throughout the whole movie. Audrey Tautou is an absolute delight. December 26, 2009

La Science des Rêves (The Science of Sleep) - R Ok I admit I'm biased, I love Gael Garcia in just about anything, so having him in this was a major plus point. The objects and sets in his dreams were really quirky and brilliantly designed and the stop-motion sequences were really good, and I liked how his dreams started blurring into his reality, etc. However, after a while it started getting a little tiring to keep witnessing his dreams go on and on, and then the ending came rather abruptly and left me with no answers. That said, I did enjoy this fun and different movie on the whole. December 25, 2009

Stranger Than Fiction - PG-13 Interesting concept, witty, and nice acting. Not really a fan of Will Ferrell but he was good in this. Emma Thompson was brilliant too. Only part that I didn't really like was a portion of the ending. Otherwise, pretty enjoyable! December 25, 2009

Ikiru (Doomed) (Living) (To Live) - PG The film absorbed me with the story and very memorable scenes, the best being the one with the protagonist on the swing. An immensely moving masterpiece that inspires you to think about life. December 5, 2009

An Education - PG-13 Was a little anti-climax for me when all was revealed, because the mystery had been built up really well. Overall a pretty interesting film, with fine acting from the cast. December 4, 2009

Twilight - PG-13 BORING. Cringe-worthy dialogue. And might as well have no climax. November 23, 2009

Coraline - PG Really fantastic and imaginative character and set designs that make this a visual treat. Had a little problem with the pacing though, the story doesn't build up very well. Kids would be quite frightened and weirded out by this film. November 15, 2009

Changhen ge (Everlasting Regret) - Unrated Way too draggy for me, and seems a little pointless in the end. November 7, 2009

Vicky Cristina Barcelona - PG-13 I really enjoyed this! A refreshing and interesting love comedy that didn't try to force some kind of message or answer the many questions it raised. Penelope Cruz was a hoot every time she was on screen. Plus, I love Barcelona, so it helps that the film showed many sights of the city. November 7, 2009

Donnie Darko - R I can't really find a good word to describe this film, but it was weird (in a good way), dark, sometimes funny and ironic, and compelling. I don't exactly dig the whole science fictiony stuff, but I liked the issues that were dealt with and questions raised. November 7, 2009
