1
Lost In Translation (2003,  R)
Lost In Translation
Charlotte: So, what are you doing here?
Bob: Uh, a couple of things. Taking a break from my wife, forgetting my son's birthday. And, uh, getting paid two million dollars to endorse a whiskey when I could be doing a play somewhere.
Charlotte: Oh.
Bob: But the good news is, the whiskey works.

This movie touched me in ways that absolutely no other movie did before. It is enchanting, beautiful, romantic, funny, honest. What can I say, this is one of my favourite, if not my favourite film.
2
The Deer Hunter (1978,  R)
The Deer Hunter
Michael: A deer has to be taken with one shot. I try to tell people that but they don't listen.

Even if this film won several oscars, I'll always have the feeling that it's underated. It reach a level of greatness that I've never seen in any other drama.
3
The Godfather (1972,  R)
The Godfather
Don Corleone: I spent my whole life trying not to be careless. Women and children can be careless. But not men.

The greatest story of them all. The Godfather is something that is beyond words. Every characters is fascinating and the story is told with so much honesty that in the end we feel like we knew all the characters and went through their tragedy. It's one of my favourite movie and will always be. It's also the best of the trilogy.
4
La Dolce Vita (1960,  Unrated)
La Dolce Vita
Marcello Rubini: You are the first woman on the first day of creation. You are mother, sister, lover, friend, angel, devil, earth, home.

The film that made me discover the great director that Frederico Fellini is. One of the most beautiful motion picture of all time. There's so much things hid in it and so much meaning in every single scene that its just out of word.
5
Il conformista (The Conformist) (1970,  R)
Il conformista (The Conformist)

Anna: He only wants to have a game.

The film that made me fall in love with Haneke. It's gripping, disturbing and keeper of a great message about violence. Haneke's supreme masterpiece follow very nearly by The Piano Teacher.

Jack Skellington: [singing] Just because I cannot see it, doesn't mean I can't believe it!

16
Crimes and Misdemeanors (1989,  PG-13)
Crimes and Misdemeanors
Judah Rosenthal: I remember my father telling me, "The eyes of God are on us always." The eyes of God. What a phrase to a young boy. What were God's eyes like? Unimaginably penetrating, intense eyes, I assumed. And I wonder if it was just a coincidence I made my specialty ophthalmology.

My favourite Woody Allen's movie. Martin Landeau is. astonishing
17
A Streetcar Named Desire (1951,  PG)
A Streetcar Named Desire

Allen' first masterpiece.
19
Jungfrukällan (The Virgin Spring) (1960,  Unrated)
Jungfrukällan (The Virgin Spring)

20
Leaving Las Vegas (1995,  R)
Leaving Las Vegas
Ben Sanderson: I don't know if my wife left me because of my drinking or I started drinking 'cause my wife left me.

The saddest movie I've ever seen. Cage and Shue literally blow the screen by their performance. One of the best.
21
Taxi Driver (1976,  R)
Taxi Driver
Travis Bickle: I think someone should just take this city and just... just flush it down the fuckin' toilet.

This film mean a lot of things to me. It's my favourite performance of my favourite actor and also my favourite movie of my favourite director. Left me speechless.

La Haine (Hate)
I a completely stunned by all the extremely powerful emotion this movie made me feel. It's a smart, thought-provoking, very well made and acted film. It's one of those rare films that you have the feeling the director did everything right. It's the best french movie I've seen.

Y Tu Mama Tambien (2001,  R)
Y Tu Mama Tambien
38
Eraserhead (1977,  Unrated)
39
The Big Sleep (1946,  Unrated)
The Big Sleep
Very complex, but GREAT! I love film-noir and this one is of the best I've seen. I was disappointed by The maltese Falcon but this one really gave me what I was looking for. So many great lines it's unbelievable.

Vivian: You go too far, Marlowe.
Marlowe: Those are harsh words to throw at a man, especially when he's walking out of your bedroom.

Philip Marlowe: Hmm.
General Sternwood: What does that mean?
Philip Marlowe: It means, hmm.
40
Fa Yeung Nin Wa (In the Mood for Love) (2001,  PG)

44
Jules and Jim (1962,  Unrated)
Jules and Jim

45
Rear Window (1954,  PG)
46
Raging Bull (1980,  R)
47
Sideways (2004,  R)
Sideways
With his thoughtful screenplay and his incredible performances, this film is a big sucess. It contains more sadness than I though it would and Paul Giamatti, in a oscar worthy performance, nearly broke my heart with his wonderful interpretation of a broken man. Thomas HAden Church is funny, real and touching and shines as all the cast does. This is a real movie about real things. Don't miss it.
48
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1999,  R)
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
Eddie: They're armed.
Soap: What was that? Armed? What do you mean armed? Armed with what?
Eddie: Err, bad breath, colorful language, feather duster... what do you think they're gonna be armed with? Guns, you tit!

One of the funniest movie I've ever seen. Guy Ritchie is really something, he may be the best director of England. The script and direction is flawless. Remarkable scene and dialogue. I'll go as far as saying that it's better than Snatch, IMO.
49
Schindler's List (1993,  R)

Såsom i en Spegel (Through A Glass Darkly) (1961,  Unrated)
Såsom i en Spegel (Through A Glass Darkly)
56
City Lights (1931,  Unrated)
City Lights
I've been waiting such a long time to see this film and now that I had the chance to see it, I feel way better. This is simply a great film, it demonstrates perfectly all the talent of Charlie Chaplin, it's funny, it's inventive and it's one the most touching film I've ever seen. Chaplin was really a genius. Now that I had a good overview of the Chaplin's work, I must get myself into Buster Keaton's fast!
57
Love and Death (1975,  PG)
58
Come and See (Idi i smotri) (1985,  Unrated)
Come and See (Idi i smotri)
59
Edward Scissorhands (1990,  PG-13)
60
From Dusk Till Dawn (1996,  R)
From Dusk Till Dawn
I watched it again for the eight time and I'm totally not shy to say that it's the funniest badass entertaining movie I've ever seen! Pure Genius!
61
Match Point (2005,  R)
Match Point
Match Point is not only the most powerful comeback of a director since ''the Player'' of Altman, and not only the best film of 2005 but it is also one one the best movie of Woody Allen. And that's saying a lot.

With its Doestoevski feeling, the movie suceed in everything it tries to do. The dialogue are perfect, the direction is Hitckockian (first time for Allen) and the story is wonderfully developped. The supporting cast is perfect, and there's some strong performance by the lead ( especially Emily Mortimer). About Scarlett Johansson, it's hit and miss but after watching the movie, I couldn't think of somebody else doing is part. Which is a good thing. Overall : Great, A masterpiece.

The Third Man
Ahhh... I love film-noir and this one has to be one of the greatest of all noir. The directing and photography (what a use of lightning and shadows!) are breathtaking and Orson Welles is brillant! Not sure about the music though.
82
The Dreamers (2004,  NC-17)
The Dreamers

Ultimo Tango a Parigi (Last Tango in Paris) (1972,  NC-17)
Ultimo Tango a Parigi (Last Tango in Paris)
I've come to a point where I like Pauline Kael's reviews of Godard more than Godard's films."

Before Sunset (2004,  R)
91
Clerks (1994,  R)
Clerks

Randal Graves: My mom's been fuckin' a dead guy for 30 years. I call him dad.

[after losing a hockey ball from the roof]
Dante Hicks: Are there any balls down there?
Jay: About the biggest pair you ever seen, dingleberry!

Randal Graves: [runs to the door] Hey! You're not allowed to rent here anymore!
Jay: [who has been standing outside, and has no idea what's going on] Yeah!
92
Clerks II (2006,  R)
Clerks II

Teen #2: Is that a fucking Bible?
Jay: Hey hey, the HOLY fucking Bible, son.

Randal Graves: Terrorists?

Becky: Shit, I had to wait on a guy I blew after Junior Prom.
Randal Graves: Yeah, I've waited on your brother too.

L'Auberge Espagnole (Pot Luck)(Euro Pudding)(The Spanish Apartment)
99
Paths of Glory (1957,  Unrated)
Paths of Glory

Oh father....father...What I have to die for...

103
Bonnie and Clyde (1967,  R)
Bonnie and Clyde
104
Il deserto rosso (Red Desert) (1964,  Unrated)
Il deserto rosso (Red Desert)
