American Gangster - R Half an hour too long. Nonetheless, Denzel is brilliant, Russell Crowe also delivers a cracking performance, worth seeing. November 18, 2007

The Clash: Westway to the World - Unrated Incredibly moving film about the west London 4. Not just for Joe's regrets, but Mick's too. I found it a bit of a tearjerker. October 10, 2007

Rude Boy - Unrated 5 stars would have done justice to the live footage of the greatest band ever. Unfortunately, this film wasn't just about the Clash live! October 9, 2007

Control - R Beautifully executed. Sad, funny, moving and some truly excellent music. October 9, 2007

Stand by Me - R This is the best movie about friendship ever made. September 18, 2007

The Bourne Ultimatum - PG-13 Best of the three I reckon. David Straitharn gets some (probably unintentionally) hilarious lines, a real rollercoaster of a film. But why don't joe publics listen to rockhard super agents? August 26, 2007

The Princess Bride - PG First saw this as a 9 year old in the cinema, didn't like it. A (Cary Elwes obsessed) spanish au pere showed me and my sister the light and now we're all word perfect- "You keep saying that word, I do not think it means what you think it means". Priceless! August 21, 2007

Aliens - R James Cameron was at his peak in the mid 80's. Hot on the heels of the Terminator came Aliens. And if you don't like this film then you must have been created by Weyland- Yutani. August 21, 2007

Ferris Bueller's Day Off - PG In my humble opinion, Ferris is one of the iconic movie characters and this is one of the funniest films ever made. August 21, 2007

The Departed - R Damon, DiCaprio.. Didn't have high hopes after Gangs. Any doubts assuaged by the strains of Gimme Shelter opening the movie, what follows is a rollercoaster ride of a film that will have you rooting for an unlikely happy ending. Fantastic film. August 20, 2007

Halloween - R Christopher Lee was offered the part of Loomis before Donald Pleasance. He turned it down. What an idiot! A truly scary film, which builds to a pulsating climax. August 20, 2007

A Room for Romeo Brass - R Funniest opening sequence ever and some great lines follow. The film turns on the two young lads being shown that for every action there is a reaction. Paddy Considine keeps you on your toes all the way through, in a performance that's hilarious and truly menacing. often in the same scene. August 20, 2007

Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten - Unrated The best film I've seen this year. But I could be biased. It will make you laugh, it will make you cry, it will make you realise that, in Strummer's own words "people can change anything they want to"- Joe did!

Also features the best soundtrack for any film ever made.

Raging Bull - R For years I thought Goodfellas was the Scorcese yardstick. It isn't, this film is. Brutal, funny, poignant and de Niro and Pesci's double act never better than here. Stunning film. August 20, 2007

Transformers - PG-13 Hilarious film. Some clunky dialogue doesn't ruin the excitement all boys, well men really, of a certain age will feel as the spectacle unfolds. August 20, 2007

The Simpsons Movie - PG-13 I enjoyed it, but it was slightly underwhelming. Recent viewings of episodes from series 8 bring this fact home August 13, 2007
