Inglourious Basterds
R
Basterds is his fullest, richest and most complete novel. [Tarantino] presides over the tough material with the confidence of an artist who is done trying to impress everyone with gimmicks. Master QT does not set out to make a war film like any one you have seen before. Instead, he's going for a genre mish-mash to deliver a unique film in and of itself.Tension, twists, humor, and it's constant. This is the best adult 'Once Upon a Time' I can think of.
Bright Star
PG
Bright Star is a well-acted, well-crafted but excruciatingly tepid romantic film about a subject that will attract poetry lovers and yet test even their considerable patience.Plays by the strict and proper rules of the period genre, resulting in a predominantly frigid and impersonal love story.

American Beauty

American Beauty is a singular accomplishment so specifically keyed to Spacey's talents that it mandates going out on a limb to say it contains the performance that will ultimately be regarded as 'the one'. A millennial classic
Oldboy
R
This is absolutely not a film for all tastes, but it's a masterpiece of pitiless power whose audacious, ambiguous climax strikes a note of insane romanticism as haunting as it is perverse.
A movie that can leave you lost, repulsed, fascinated and ultimately chastened.
