Year One - PG-13 It has a couple of funny moments, mostly courtesy of Michael Cera and the supporting cast but in the end the flaws (Oliver Platt, Jack Black's overacting, unfunny situations, even Christopher Mintz-Plasse) far outweigh the pros. October 17, 2009

Fame - PG The singing/dancing etc. scenes are entertaining and well choreographed but the rest is not. There's various characters and an attempt is made to give each a backstory but it's to superficial. Wait for the dvd if you really wanna see it. October 15, 2009

Killshot - R Fast paced thriller with a decent cast (and acting), storyline and soundtrack September 26, 2009

Brüno (Bruno) - R Once again, Sacha Baron Cohen returns with an character designed to show how people really react when confronted with an outrageous, over-the-top individual who challenges what they believe in. Not as funny as its predecessor 'Borat' but still a highly amusing look at the reactions of people in fake scenarios (that they believe to be real). September 26, 2009

Public Enemies - R Bit disappointing actually. The film relies a lot on Johnny Depp's charm to keep things moving, but charm he has in the role so it works. September 5, 2009

My Sister's Keeper - PG-13 Cameron Diaz makes the transition from her usual films to the dramatic fare quite well. The cast is good, especially Abigail Breslin and Alec Baldwin. The music is excellent. Interesting story and a good adaption. August 29, 2009

G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra - PG-13 If you were to go into this movie expecting anything other than lots of action you'd be a moron. Lots of action is exactly what is delivered (enjoyably) along with very likeable characters. Good enough considering what it's based on. August 23, 2009

Disgrace - Unrated . August 21, 2009

Step Brothers - R A formulaic 'comedy' that manages to rustle up very few laughs. Will Ferrell continues to play the same man-boy character (so does John C. Reilly but he doesn't do as well) and, when he's on his own, has the potential to be funny (but, alas, this doesn't happen to often). The supporting cast are mostly unlikeable, with the exception of Mary Steenburgen, and provide no joy. Overall, a movie that centres on grown men acting like stereotypical tweens that also manages to stereotype other characters (e.g. Kathryn Hahn) and that either lacks jokes or lets a joke continue for to long, either because someone was under the impression they were funny or were hoping they would become funny (they aren't/don't) and is resolved to quickly, obviously because the filmmakers couldn't see a way to let the story continue. Zack and Miri Make a Porno - R Seth Rogen continues his every-man schtick but it works and Elizabeth Banks has a flair for comedy. Funny with a good supporting cast. August 14, 2009

Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day - PG-13 Boring story but Amy Adams lights up the screen and keeps everything going. August 14, 2009
