Alien (1979,  R)
Alien
An amazing sci fi horror masterpiece.
2
Aliens (1986,  R)
Aliens
Sequels rarely perform well with critics due to lack of a powerful storyline, but James Cameron changed that in 1986 with his second directed film. Aliens continues the story of Ripley 57 years after the events of Alien. After being picked up by a salvage crew and returned to a hospital, Ripley slowly learns that the nightmare haven't ended. Being forced to return to the same planet where it all began with the Colonial Marine Corp, Ripley soon discovers that the horror hasn't ended.
3
Alien 3 (1992,  R)
Alien 3
Alien 3 at the time marked as the last in the series. Sadly it didn't but if it did it surely did do a decent job as a closure to the franchise. The film picks up after the 2nd which finds Ripley as the only survivor after crashlanding on a prison planet.

Upon wakening up she soon discovers that an alien was on board the evac vessel that crashed onto the planet which took the form of a dog. with no weapons of any kinda in the facility means that Ripley would have to use other means necessary to kill the creature.

Being David Finchers first shot at the movie scene meant that this was one of his finest. The directing was good and cast of characters were decent as well. The Alien Dog animation was also good which used a share of costuming and stop motion animation.

This was a decent film which should've been alot better then it initially was.

AVP - Alien Vs. Predator (2004,  PG-13)
AVP - Alien Vs. Predator
I remember AVP back in 2004 and man was it a great memory. Sadly alot others thought it out as a mediocre crossover film but I thought differently. Even though I liked it there was still issues to be had with it and one of them was the story. Back in 2005 Paul Anderson put together a DVD with extra footage to give the film more spice to it and surprisingly it was much better.

I gotten the version on Blu Ray and was very impressed with the films extended cut. The storyline in it fleshed out alot of the things ppl didn't understand. It given out more character development and also explained somewhat of the predator's hunting them being teenagers. It really did make the movie slightly more better then it's theatrical cousin but still this is Paul Anderson who did this and it would take alot more then just some extended scenes to make this film legendary in other people's opinion.

Predator (1987,  R)
Predator
One of my favorite films sci fi films. The film starred Arnold Schwarzenegger who leads his team of commandos to the jungle to retrieve a fallen chopper but soon become victim to an alien warrior sent in to hunt. The action in the film was there. Things blew up well and blood was shed left n right. when the predator came into the picture things gotten more suspenseful. The film featured awesome VFX for it's time and still hold up to this day. this was surely a good action film

Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999,  PG)
Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace
Fans all around anticipated the return of Star Wars 15 years after Episode 6 ended it all. In this first installment we see Darth Vader as a little boy and how he is taken in by Obi Wan Kenobi and his master Qui Gon Jin. what disappointed me about the film was the fact it was just too kiddie based.Mainly it revolved around Jake Lloyd as little Anakin and how he persued to become a Jedi.

It just wasn't that entertaining to me to see all that go on. I did like Darth Maul and found him to be a cool villian. The battles he had with Qui Gon and Obi Wan were well choreographed and also entertaining.

ILM provided very nice digital effects for the film and really made it shine alot. Their techniques at the time opened up alot of doors in their visual department. Their mixture of minatures with CGI effects was purely unique and is kinda sad they really dio not do that anymore.

Production front Episode 1 hung in there but story wise I was just disappointed with the whole experience of it. Episode 1 was a pure disappointment for me and was an embarrassing opening to the prelude trilogy for George Lucas himself.
7
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002,  PG)
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones
This was by far the weakest of the 6 films but doesn't mean it was worse then episode 1. This had a far much better storyline which focused on Anakin Skywalker's journey as a Padawan Jedi and how he fought through the beginning of the Clone Wars. The film focused too highly on Digital Effects by ILM more then anything. All the backdrops were pure CGI and even alot of the characters were too.

Hayden Christenson most certainly didn't help with his bad god awful acting in it. Ewan Mcgregor as Obi Wan was most certainly a nice touch and Christopher Lee as the villainous Count Dooku was a good role for him too. Also Bobba Fett's father was another good addition for this film as well

Action wise it was there. Aside from the love story between Anakin and Padme we were treated to amazing CGI filled war sequences between the Clone Troopers and the Sith army. It looked nice visuall. The Jedi battles were also pretty neat too as well.

George Lucas written a good script but had a so so actor at the lead which lead to the film being iffy.It was sort of an improvement but it just needed a bit more work and George Lucas himself admitted that.

A decent second entry was good but it wasn't great

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005,  PG-13)
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith
The 3rd and final installment finds young Anakin seduced by the dark side of the force. This was by far the best closure to the series. It featured even better CGI and more epic action sequences then any of the previous had. The transformation that Anakin went through was well developed.

It went well to how he became a padawan and how Chancellor Palpatine talked him into his side. It was just good but yet very dark. It surprised me to how violent it kinda was. The part when Anakin fought Count Dooku in the opening sequence and cut off his head with his lightsaber was just great but didn't feel like Star Wars whatsoever.

ILM showed what they could do yet again. The digital environments in the opening sequence took my breath away at first view and the sound was just amazing. The loud laser blasts to the clashing of the lightsabers never sounded better.

This yet again pushed digital effects to the limit. Surprisingly this was an epic closure to the preludes and marks as one of my all time best in the preludes

Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977,  PG)
Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope
The film that started it all.
10
Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980,  PG)
Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back
the best out of the 6 episodes. it had everything going for it
11
Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983,  PG)
Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi
a great end to the trilogy but needed more depth
12
The Matrix (1999,  R)
The Matrix
The Matrix more or less was a great opening to a rather decent trilogy. The thing that made me like The Matrix more then anything was it's storyline. The Wachowski Brothers written a screenplay based on how machines could own people and use them for electricity.

upon that it extended on a man named Neo who is supposed to be The one and how he must do battle with this program inside The Matrix. Laurence Fishburne plays Morpheus who more ot less teaches Neo the ways of The Matrix and how he has to do battle with the agents in the system.

The movie alone did alot in 1999 like giving off state of the art visual effects and sound. The action was also well shot and choreographed as well. The fact the team gotten in karate experts to help with the fight sequences was a huge plus as well.

Aside from the amazing CGI,awesome action sequences, good cast and even a pretty decent story still meant the film had a problem. The problem was that it took awhile to understand everything that went on.

It was confusing at first but in the end this film marks as one of my personal best out there. The Matrix surely was a very influential film.
13
The Matrix Reloaded (2003,  R)
The Matrix Reloaded
A rollercoaster ride that goes on til the very end
14
The Matrix Revolutions (2003,  R)
15
Gladiator (2000,  R)
Gladiator
One of Russell Crowes best action films
16
Transformers (2007,  PG-13)
Transformers
Michael Bay is known for doing films that use explosions and epic action sequences. The fact he did Transformers was for the best. Ever since Transformers was announced to be made into a live action movie Michael Bay was the man to have.

The film is about a teenage boy who is cought in the middle of a conflict between 2 rival robots and how he is supposedly the savior of mankind. Visually this film imprssed me alot. ILM provided top visual effects to assure that this would be a quality film and surely it was.

The action segments alone were phenominal and questions me on how this was a 150 million dollar film? Production wise this film surely was there because it did deliver on the eye candy.

Story wise it could've been alot better. It wasn't bad but it could've used some improvement in there thats for sure. This was surely last summers epic film and hopefully 2 would deliver a much greater promise.
17
Titanic (1997,  PG-13)
Titanic
James Cameron's epic retelling of the doomed ship was by far his best work around. Titanic told the story of a wealthy young woman named rose who meets a poor artist named Jack Dawson on the maiden voyage. The films story was cleverly written by James Cameron and was most certainly well produced.

Not only did this film deliver good talent but the performances they each delivered as the characters they played was well implemented. This was most surely James Cameron's finest achievments in filmmaking and it did deserve the Academy Awards it has gotten.

Reason I personally liked it was the fact how everything was done well. The sets were well crafted and the costumes were cleverly designed. The actors were all cast very well and also the CGI was very superior for it's time.

This was 200 million dollars well spent and it was also a film that deserved the returns it had gotten.Titanic was a true masterpiece for it's time.
18
Silent Hill (2006,  R)
Silent Hill
A film that left you just wanting much more. And that is saying alot. Christophe Gans and Writer Roger Avary adapted this film from the first Silent Hill game. Sure it may not directly follow the first game but it did revolve around a parent finding a child(which the first game was about).

There were alterations in the film though. One of them was the fact the main character was a woman and not a man. Also another alteration was that Pyramid Headand the Mental Patient was one of the baddies in this film.

Pyramid Head and the Mental Patients didn't make their debut til the Silent Hill 2 game came out. I felt a tad bit disappointed but in the end it was a good film. The produvtion was done pretty well. The town of Silent Hill looked as it did in the video games, but instead of Fog it was ash that shrouded the town. Also the visual effects were pretty good. For a video game based film the VFX looked pretty neat.

The way the hell world looked was pretty neat and really liked the effect on how it changed before the mother's very eye.The only problem I have is the fact that some of the acting isn't much good.

I expected that from a film based on a game but the overall verdict is that this is a pretty decent video game based film

The Descent (2006,  R)
