At the Earth's Core At the Earth's Core PG
Can't forget this movie in my life... I was I don't know what age, maybe around 8, my parents were having a gathering, and suddenly my parents say go with this guy... so I do and suddenly I get confirmed in church, afterward, the now confirmation godfather says " wanna go see a movie?" of course I agree... and this is the one he takes me to, hence, it's an interesting memory in my life, even if I don't remember how old I was, or my godfather's name (I think his last name was Bibar...???), but I fondly remember that my parents only cared about procedure and not dogma... by the way, I've never been religious. Did I make any sense?

This is not a moralistic opinion in any way, be sure of that but this was just not good and an embarrassment for the star studded cast (I'm not putting McDowell in this group) ... I saw the original cut and it was not good. Even though it was written by Gore Vidal it does not mean it's a good story. It's too far fetched. Most of it is not even remotely close to what was, but what can one expect from a soft core director as Tinto Brass, who bet was in his element when Penthouse came to him with this awful and boring movie.

I'm quite surprised to have seen Helen Mirren, Peter O'Toole and John Gielgud, such fine actors in a smutty skin flick with no context what so ever except of course the orgies and whatnot.

Just because human beings have an inclination towards watching the morbid and obscene doesn't mean AT ALL that they should stick around for a 2:37 hrs movie with no story. I I wanted to see a porn I'd just go for one straight on.

This movie will likely be enjoyed by anyone with the urge to watch a porn but with an excuse that he or she is renting an art flick instead of a skin flick.

The only reason I give it a full star rating is because of the quirky scene of the decapitating machine... that's all.

Claudius portrayed as a homosexual? please...

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOW! One of the most misunderstood films by a controversial artist about a that guy known as Hitler. Set your mind controls for almost seven hours of no less than a fantasy! "One of Europe's boldest and most controversial film and theatre directors, Syberberg has devoted much of his career to exploring the roots of his native Germany's tragic destiny in the 20th century. His earlier films, Ludwig, Requiem for a Virgin King, and Karl May, developed the form of "montrous monologue", which culminated in a unique co-production by Europe's three leading broadcasters in 1977. Syberberg believes Hitler is the subject of our century, and one that needs to be explored at many levels, so that we can discover "the little bit of Hitler in all of us". Here we meet Hitler in many guises: as a ventriloquist dummy, Mr Punch (with Eva Braun as Judy), Napoleon, Chaplin's "Great Dictator", in a film which tries to combine the epic theatre of Brecht with the musical aesthetic of Wagner, and is also a film about the power of cinema itself."
