| Enchanted - PG |
I like when a movie doesn't take itself seriously. That is why I found myself enjoying this one. Sure everything is second rate as far as acting and cinematography, but it was nonetheless entertaining. Great for quotes too. Haha. In all, would recommend. |

| V for Vendetta - R |
An interesting production. As far as the technical aspect is concerned, it was a beautiful film. Much like Memoirs of a Geisha, the compositions and colours are superbly done. The story itself, however, was somewhat strange. Perhaps its origin as a comic had something to do with that. Vendetta portrays with a blatant bias the two regimes of fascism and anarchism. Unfortunately, it is altogether too easy to portray either side as righteous depending on one's focus. Yes, "V" was a revolutionary, causing the collapse of an inevitably corrupt regime, but was his method any more moral? There are many interesting questions brought to light in this film, despite however biased it might be. |

| The Gospel - PG |
For being a "Christian" movie, it wasn't bad. There's not much to say about it, except it was rather long and boring. Some of the music isn't bad though, and the acting is ok. Overall, something to watch if you're really really bored. |

| O - R | This one made me so mad I could spit. Everyone kills each other in the end. There is absolutely nothing here worth watching. | February 8, 2007 | N/A | |||
| The Constant Gardener - R |
This movie is most certainly left-wing biased, going along with the popular belief that the U.S and other western nations are screwing over the rest of the world. The not-so-subtle manipulation that tries to cause the viewer to become sympathetic to the cause is most frustrating. However, political views aside, this one is a keeper. The cinematography, screenplay, acting, and everything else was beautifully done. The colours and camera shots were brilliance, telling the story in a whole different language. Unlike most films coming out these days, the acting was also of a high caliber. All in all, it was a spectacular film that, if it were not for the zany political slant, would be most deserving of a 5 star rating. |

| Lucky Number Slevin - R |
This one was both dumb and clever at the same time. It started out with promise, but sank rather quickly after the first twenty minutes or so. Fortunately, it somwhat redeems itself near the end as the admittedly clever twist becomes known. I won't say anything more so as not to give it away. The acting all round was rather poor, and I've never been a fan of Bruce Willis or Morgan Freeman. They're both pretty crappy actors I've come to associate with lower-grade films.
In all, it was funny, surprising, and dumb. Not bad for one viewing. |

| Edison (Edison Force) - R |
Well, it wasn't horrible. There's not a whole lot going for it, but to it's credit, it doesn't have any major flaws.
Bad points include some lackluster acting (particularly Timberlake) and too much Hollywood style action. Nonetheless, it wasn't bad all round, and it did come across as funny on some occasions. |

| Syriana - R | This movie is obviously someone's statement of political and religious opinion; both of which are rather skewed. Glorifying terrorists? pfft. Though from strictly a movie's standpoint, it was not too bad. The cinimatography was nice and the acting was pretty good. The plot had potential, but they didn't make it. The presentation was horrible. The dialog was so damn hard to follow, and the plot as a whole was chopped together into one big disjointed mess. It would be interesting to see this re-done. | December 15, 2006 | N/A | |||
| Over the Hedge - PG | It was pretty much what I was expecting, but a little funnier. There is nothing entirely creative about this movie, and many of the jokes are pretty slapstick and boring. On the other hand, there was a good mix of funny things, and the graphics were great. Overall, it makes a good kids film that older people might enjoy too if they can tolerate some sillyness. | November 22, 2006 | N/A | |||
| Cars - G |
Well, certainly better than I was expecting. It still has a lot of quazy-stupid jokes and some cliches, but in an era of few original animated films, this one does pretty well. There is just enough originality to keep me watching.(those "car flies" were hilarious) Oh yes, and the blatent Fast and Furious take off's were funny too.
What really arrested my attention, however, were the stunning graphics. 3D animation has grown by leaps and bounds over the past couple of years, and this film sets the graphical bar yet another notch higher. It won't be much longer before the difference between 3D and real life will be hard to determine. |

| Saving Private Ryan - R | A very good film, I thought. They mix in a lot of humor too wich is a nice break from all the graphic violence. A little romantisized, but definitely more realistic than other war movies I've seen. Warning though, don't watch it if you can't stomach gore, because you see things such as peoples limbs blowing off, or even their whole lower body, other various innards, and one squeemish scene in which a German slowly sticks his knife into the Americans heart. | November 8, 2006 | N/A | |||
| Rules of Engagement - R | Very well done. My brain is mush right now, so I'll write a proper review later. | October 30, 2006 | N/A | |||
| The Matador - R |
What a wierd movie. It's rather hopeless actually. The acting sucks, the story is unlikely and stupid, and the plot doesn't seem to know from whence it comes or where it goes. I was rather disappointed to see Brosnan act such a dumb part as a 'smart and skilled' assasin with about as much skill as a grade school kid. There are, however a very few parts I thought were done ok. Unfourtunately though, I can't recall them through all the crap.
Overall, cheap cheap. |

| Memoirs of a Geisha - PG-13 |
An outstanding work of art. The cinimatography is fantastic; every colour, every perspective, blends seamlessly into the flow of time and emotion. Add to this some of the best acting I have seen in years, (young sayuri was unbelievable) and the result is a near masterpiece.
What keeps this film from getting more than four is its unfourtunate tendancy to be rather straight forward and predictable. My rating may not be entirely fair either, as I usually prefer a faster paced film. Nonetheless, I highly recommend this movie to anyone, if only for its breathtaking art. |

| Spirit - Stallion of the Cimarron - G | Having been around and worked with horses for almost all my life, I can't help but to be rather skeptical about this movie from a realistic standpoint. However, if I can set that aside, the movie was ok. It wasn't as silly as I was first expecting. The soundtrack is nice and helps enhance the film rather than distract from it. Overall, a perfect movie for the romantic younger generation who know nothing of real horses. | October 23, 2006 | N/A |
