Alien 1. Alien R 5.0 Stars
I'll never be able to decide which Alien film I like most. Alien is probably my favorite horror film and Aliens is my favorite action film; it's far to close to decide. This film shows that horror can be taken seriously but unfortunately due to films like Hostel they will always be seen as cheap trash.
Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back 3. Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back PG 5.0 Stars
A perfect film. This film is really the one that started the expanded universe, sure the first one is great but this film made everything seem so much bigger. It introduced Lando, Yoda, Boba Fett and has probably the best set design of all time. That's why I would pick this other the other two.
For a Few Dollars More 4. For a Few Dollars More R 5.0 Stars
My favorite Western from what I've seen so far. Great pacing, brilliant characters, lots of tension, good story, nicely shot and has one of the best scenes without dialog ever. Also Ennio Morricone created a brilliant score for this but then again he always does.
Oldboy 5. Oldboy R No rating.
Black Sabbath 6. Black Sabbath Unrated 5.0 Stars
To put it simply this is one of the best horror films ever made, without a doubt. I thought I was too old to have a film scare me, but this proved me wrong; The Drop of Water segment made all my hairs stand on end, and the best thing is it isn't gore or violence that made it happen but pure atmosphere, I think the last time a film scared me was back when I saw 13 when The Blair Witch had came out, obviously at the time without the internet I was fooled in to thinking it was real and I'm definitely glad I was fooled because it made the ending one of the best moments in horror. It's taken me 6 or 7 years to find another film to scare me. If The Drop Of Water didn't make all your hairs stand on end you must be emotionally numb.

good movie, but weak score. It is a bit similar to nosferatu(the masterpiece of Murnau), but not as strong of it.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army (Hellboy 2) Hellboy II: The Golden Army (Hellboy 2)
    3.5 Stars by Kelly
A movie that goes from great to mediocre at a fairly even pace. Fantastic creature design and effects prosthetics, makeup, etc. Tolerable CGI. The irony is that the least interesting (and frankly, just plain shitty) character design is the Golden Army itself; they look totally lame, unless you're looking at hundreds of them at once. Besides that, this is del Toro's same art crew from Pan's Labyrinth so the designs are just jaw dropping and staggeringly original. Jeffrey Tambor is funny as a Papa Bluth-pastiche of himself. Thought Perlman was stiff, but a nice bonus Seth McFarlane of Family Guy fame voices the ectoplasmic doctor.
Some action/comic cliche lines in the movie. Forced romance that advances the plot (horrible thing to do in a movie). Abe Sapien looked great; loved the Prince villain, though I thought he was very Pinhead derived (maybe it's just all that Hellraiser watching I did). Far better than the first, but suspend your disbelief in the beginning, and your discerning tastes during the last two reels. I don't think non-comic people will get much from this, but "it sucked" to "it was alright".
First review in my "MOVIES ALL THE ZOMBIES ARE SEEING" feature I'm doing whilst visiting the northeast and doing a proper "summer at the movies". A movie that went from great to mediocre/annoying at a steady rate. FAR better than the first, though.
Flixter politics: Just this first one I'm sending to everyone on my list so you know I'm doing this feature; further recommends won't be sent to people who have "Not Interested" marked for any movie I want to recommend whilst on my movie adventure.

Guaranteed to make you see the American Revolution and it's founding fathers in a whole new light.

HBO continues to amaze me with the quality of there productions.

All of the acting and story telling here is top notch.

Tak Fujimoto might have gone off the deep end with the dutch angles, but it's forgivable.

Super High Me Super High Me

I've been meaning to write a review about this for a while, but I've been too stoned. When Doug says in his standup, "So I will be smoking pot all day every day for thirty days in a row", I would have heckled in reply, "Welcome to my life!!!"
A nice blend of stoner humor and serious documentary film-making on the political movement and people affected by the battle for legalization of marijuana in America. I'm a well rounded pothead, so I love this approach of going serious to silly several times in the same reel. ssssssmoke!
I'm totally high right now, and I love this movie. I woke up yesterday wanting to watch it again, and I wasn't even high then.

I sound daring to say this is innovative. I guess some of the activists in the movie really got to me, esp the guy who opened the first dispensary primarily for AIDS patients and when he talked about his place getting raided, he referenced Stonewall, saying to the state police, "Don't you realize - these people are going to fight back?!" Pulled at my little gay stoned lung pipes.
But there's hard-hitting stuff for everyone - who doesn't love a blunt paraplegic or a cute honor student with cancer? And since the film is set against the backdrop of the standup comedy profession, you're treated to snippets throughout that prove why Doug should be the #1 pot comic in this year's High Times.
I'm recommending this while high. Only two ppl on my friends list have seen this (and ur getting my redundant praise as well). I gave this movie that extra half star because I was stoned when I rated it, and being even more stoned now, I don't disagree.

Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death

One of the best bad movies I've ever seen.

In the dark unexplored Avocado jungles of Southern California, A sexy feminist professor must venture deep inside to convince the Piranha women (i.e. cannibal women) to leave their homes for lovely Condos in Malibu.

I'm not making this up. One of the best lines is "there isn't a a feminist group that's advocates cannibalism, at least not since the 60's"

Plus Bill Maher is in it.
Very, very rarely is a bad movie worth recommending to most people.

Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death is the exception to the standard. The plot is insane enough to hold your interest and the dialog is thoroughly engaging. (it's from the writer of Pretty Woman and Under Siege)

Plus is features Bill Maher, Shannon Tweed and Mrs. Carpenter herself, Adrienne Barbeau.

The premise of The Crazies receives the treatment and production the concept deserves in this new flick. Enough blood to satisfy any media vamps out there, and more than enough story to hold the cynical horror fan tendencies at bay. Some nice little scenes of insanity, and I don't want to give anything away because you should just see it. There are a few things the discerning viewer would gripe about, but compared to its contemporaries, this is a freshly sliced chunk of violent psychological horror that implements enough fun little cinematic techniques to tickle even the staunchest of classical film students. This is a horror film that I can confidently recommend to those outside the horror hound camp; this is a damn good scary movie as well as a thoughtfully structured tale and depiction. See it!
    "Do you have the crazy?"
For horror fans, I'm proud to be at the early mark on this one. Only one other of my friends has seen this, Joel V, and I impromptu downloaded it because of the premise and praise. Just finished it. A MUST SEE!

For the cinema aficionados with discerning taste, I can safely say that this is a GOOD horror movie. Yes, a rare species indeed. But a chronologically disjointed plot structure over this premise of a city gone insane, with all the appropriate technique tweaks and a barrage of appropriately odd dialogue for a refreshingly odd script turns out to be a worthwhile watch. (And it had three directors, very art-house)

Did I also mention that there are loads of really cool (and inventive) gore scenes?

As always, feel free to thoroughly bitch me out if I'm wrong. If it is a bad movie, I'll be here to absorb some of that rage.
