Max Payne (2008,  PG-13)
Max Payne
Let's start from "OH MY F**KING GOD!", It was damn! AWESOME.

To the PAIN of PAYNE: A deffinately emotionally driven character and story. As an audience, I had to swallow back a tear in certain bits. Usually to do with when we're seeing the flashbacks of the murder and the final scene. Constantly through the movie we're reminded with the pain Max is going through, the loss, the breakdown, this cold case which will forever haunt him, atleast until he can bring justice. He will go to the ends of the Earth to bring that same pain upon those who are responsibile, to seek justice, revenge, redemption, to relieve himself & his family. The corruptness and the brutality of that murder - is sickening and anyone should be able to feel that they could react the same way -- To want to use your fist, to use your every might in your body, capable and uncapable, to get the information you want, to seek the blood of those who did it -even though it sounds inhumane and quite possibly is.. It's our emotions and we use them in both unwise and wise ways but f**k them all. They damn deserve what's coming to them! right? Anyway, Max Payne is like a demolition man at a point in the movie but that is not the case throughout; you also see his weaker side, his toughness breaking down for a free fall to seek the arms of his "angels". To just die and go to that place. That place of light. Whether it's Heaven ..or whether it's not. It is where he would rather be.. but then.... a soft and particularly beautiful voice resonances...."Not yet Max" (which is actually my favourite line in the movie) reachs out to him and lifts him up again, raising him from the floor and back to his feet, he's reloaded, while wounded, bleeding and limping; he's still up for this, that resonance keeps him going- going for the MAX... HE WILL finish this "job". And so through the PAIN stands Max PAYNE. And who better to play our HERO than Mark, He's a fab-fab-fabulous actor. Let no one tell him differently.

CAST: Credit to all the cast. Great work by them all, especially Mark and Beau Bridges I'd have to say.

VISUAL: Just beautiful, absolutely, amazing! enough said. It's 'Moore' not 'Less'. Hehe. CGI: Those demons were a strong element in the film and that was great! Seriously that scene with the roof coming apart -- DAMN TOO COOL! Also the snow, the background showing NY and the iced up water... They're crying out LOVE ME and I do love you scenery!

SEQUEL: It can live with or WITHOUT a second but (after the credits it introduces the opportunity) to see Mark raise his voice and convey those emotions out through his eyes again would be "boom baby" to me (meaning a great idea). Not to mention the SHOT GUN action!

ENDING:Just fantastic, one of the best endings. It can make you cry and it holds that bright light mentioned earlier. You just want to scream out to him and say "You did it Max! You did it" you know, or atleast I did. A deffinate must see, unless you want a shoot-em-up - I wouldn't recommend. It's just not like that. It's way more meaningful!

Even my brother said it was an awesome movie, a mad movie - probably Mark Wahlberg's best. That's high praise from a Max Payne fan/game player. Even my mother liked it, we all enjoyed it (my family). We all got our laughs, and our "ooo"s "aaar"s, "Holy cow"s. In the end we're all giving 'Max Payne' back up vocals with a bang. And man when the title came up at the end "MAX PAYNE" I seriously cheered out loud going "WOOO!!!" ;)
DVD here I come!

The Happening (2008,  R)
The Happening
The STYLE put into this movie is SO unique. I've never seen such a movie like this, it's nice to see different things and for it to be actually alot more natural than most movies. Most movies have these catchy lines, sex scenes (which we don't actually need to see unless it's based on it) or special effects that make it "Cool" but this movie is all done by "NATURAL" movement, it's like taking a step back and using a pencil/pen again instead of the computer.

The dialogue MAY not be WHAT WE THINK is movie material and the characters don't make any "hollywood" made actions. The thing is it's REALISTIC. The people are not witty or the opposite hysterical during these times. They're confused, emotional and well Night tried to do a more relaxing thriller. One you could enjoy because it's not full of ONE style (horror).. It's got moments of joy, moments of pure concern and frightfulness, moments that vary like day to day life. BUT People want to have TWISTS and things that aren't REAL or things that they won't have to THINK about because they just want ENTERTAINMENT but I like movies with alot of thought, ones that will make ME do something too.

By the end of the movie... You find that you're still entertained while it's got this black screen up. The movie leaves you (well if you're like me) with all these questions THAT YOU CAN answer. Each day after you've seent he movie you'll find better and better things to say about it. I saw this movie two weeks ago and I still think about it now and then. It's JUST one of those movies that really have intrigued me. It involved me in it's conclusion, I was part of the movie because I enjoyed it - to find bits and pieces of the movie and put it all together like a jigsaw puzzle and work out that it's A REALLY good film and that it just needs a MIND ready to explore it's meaning. It's a pity not many people had this ability well.. actually it's all based on taste. This movie didn't satisfy your taste buds but maybe it would if you gave it a chance.
& just for the sake of it. Mark Wahlberg is an excellent actor who deserves his damn Academy Award! :P

Four Brothers (2005,  R)
Four Brothers
A fun, emotional and action packed film with BROTHERS you believe are real. Bobby Mercer and his brothers are all individual characters set apart from each other except so close in the home and in the heart. It's a wonderful story and played out really well by all the actors. Mark Wahlberg is ofcourse the stand out being the main one and being my favourite actor anyway. Everytime I see the ending (the fight scene) I'm always cheering out "Bobby MERCER!" because the film really engages you and makes you believe what Bobby is doing is the RIGHT way to do things and you just feel for him. This movie deserved alot more recognition than it got.

Shooter (2007,  R)
Shooter
Wow. Intense. Bob Lee Swagger is a really SMART character and this movie is pretty smart also. You really have to watch and listen carefully to understand the story completely - if you don't you are left questioning the whys.. I loved each action sequence and their outcomes, it was awesome :D.
One guy takes out like a heap of men almost completely by himself and survives!- not as far-fetched as it sounds. He's just really that damn good!. Mark Wahlberg takes another fantastic performance, his acting was spot on! The first few scenes once he's on the run all the drama/action is just wow and later how he treats his wounds. He just keeps you interested in what's really going on. I've watched it twice now in two days ;)

Kate Mara, I've only seen in one other film before but, she did her character justice. Another MARK WAHLBERG FAVOURITED MOVIE. with that ending of justice and rightness. Don't mess with Mark! hehe
5
The Yards (2000,  R)
The Yards
Wow, you know what. I didn't expect this one to be as good as what it was. Of course I had no doubts but still. This film is really really good. Mark's acting preformance is something very memorable. The storyline keeps you on the edge and there are certain scenes where the suspense is fantastic. I, for some reason especially love the scene where Leo and Willy are fighting - that would have be the number one fight scene I've ever seen. No seriously. No kidding.

So down to the bottom line. A very energetic drama which catches you almost off guard and it's even a smart storyline. There are dramas which are just plain drama but this one is like a suspense drama - it's a great atmosphere. One other thing, Mark uses his eyes & voice to express 'feeling' more than he does facial expression. He does that so well, the eyes really convey his thought [in-character]. I'd also have to praise Joaquin in this preformance.

So without further a-do I'd have to say I really enjoyed it - it was worth staying up very late for, even my brother would agree. Have to try find the DVD one day :).

The Italian Job (2003,  PG-13)
The Italian Job
This was like my all-time favourite film when this came out.. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE BRAZILLIAN JOB :)
7
The Departed (2006,  R)
The Departed
Top actors (all of them!) and a definate top movie!. Mark Wahlberg is the best actor! and the story behind this movie is just simply great! From one side of the story to the other it's just wonderuflly told! I really enjoy this film each time I watch it.. and even though it's full of swearing it just blends so well!. It's the character of the character. Wonderful. Plus the clever lines! ;)

It's also the first time I've seen Leonardo in a role that I think he really really did well in. AND with Jack Nicholson in the twist it's like a whole film packed with like ACTION, FUN, INTENSITY and JUST SOME FABULOUS co-operation in acting ability, no one really took too much attention everyone had this fair share and all had their bright and shiney moments.

Mark Wahlberg who had the best character had executed him like a thousand times great! in was just how the movie got to the top I reckon. It was that one last push on the meter and it made the film go BANG!!. I hope they make the sequel and bring Dignam back. Everyone loves Dignam. ;).

PS: The very last scene is the best.
Just go watch it!!

Fear (1996,  R)
Fear
I remember this!!!!!!!! when I was like!! 10-11?!
MARK WAHLBERG! oh my goodness I would have never guessed until seeing it again.. Anyway, I loved this film it may not be a "NICE" film but I really enjoyed it ALOT. Pity Mark's character was the BAD GUY because we all know what happens to ..the bad guy most of the time! but he rocked the heck out of it though. Wonderful acting.

In a way I feel sorry for David (Mark) because he seems to be the nice guy until he starts to become jealous and obsessed - though I'm sure he had some other problems?. It's okay to have both obsession and jealousy as everyone goes through it .. But to let it drive you to that point of insanity it's not. It's quite crazy.

It's a deffinate great thriller, it is scary and it moves along the screen in a moderate pace but yet so intense and fast in others.
I also really like the dialogue in this movie it's so... Like... "Together forever, Or else".
9
Taking Lives (2004,  Unrated)
Taking Lives
This is one of the best films I've seen with Angelina Jolie. It's got a great story - one that hasn't been done or atleast I don't think so?. It deffinately wasn't predictable when trying to figure out - "Who did it". I loved the ending.
10
Knocked Up (2007,  R)
Knocked Up
One of the VERY best comedies I've ever seen especially concerning pregnancy. Seth Rogen is a fabulous comedy actor I think he's the best of today. All of his movies so far have been really good and kind of realistic too in a made-funny way. Katherine acted out her character really well too. Love the tagline "What would you do IF this GUY got YOU pregnant?"
11
The Island (2005,  PG-13)
The Island

12
Poseidon (2006,  PG-13)
Poseidon
This was an awesome movie!, I usually like action like this... The type that is possibly real and things that make you grasp your hands and wait for the ending ..I also held my breathe trying to see if i would make it =]P I think i wouldn't..But maybe in that situation yes, i would push to survive lol.. This was quite a sad movie and it was one that i would watch over and over

16
The Perfect Storm (2000,  PG-13)
The Perfect Storm
This movie didn't make me cry but it made me really sad by the end of it. This was so WELL acted and you find yourself hoping almost as hard as the fishermen's loved ones for them to survive this storm. Mark Wahlberg did such a fantastic job, god he seems so young in this film haha. Well he was around 29? Great cast and believable story/characters. Based on true story I think. The effects were excellent. This film is deffinately memorable!
17
The Basketball Diaries (1995,  R)
The Basketball Diaries
Wow. This movie was VERY engaging. Kept me so glued :o. It starts out like it's fun and games it's young reckless life, and then you come about half way through and you find that all of this is not good. No. It has a strong line of "This is why you shouldn't do drugs" and I see it. I believe it. I think this movie would be great for kids who think it would be cool.

Leonardo did a great job in his role and Mark Wahlberg plays his second role!! as Mickey & he was such a great character too. It's a pity we didn't see more of him, but this is about Jim (Leo's character) however the only disappointment was that I felt sorry for Mickey in the end because of where he ended up BUT great movie!. True story ;)

I Am Sam (2002,  PG-13)
I Am Sam
This was a beautiful movie! with brilliant actors from the very cute Dakota Fanning with her tremendous young talent to Sean Penn's wonderful eye catching performance. The story is just really well written and such a lovely experience. It has a good underlining meaning about family and stating your place in that family and also the fact of aurtistic people - that they are people and they have feelings. Sam's friends in this are just so cute (in that way). It was a very emotional ride and I see it alot like 'Rainman' except maybe more indepth. Fabulous movie! :D
49
Meet The Fockers (2004,  PG-13)

It's pace, story and humour is excellent. Better than number one. It feels realistic but ofcourse it's comedy. So. Those two elements put together make a great taste of a weekend movie ;).
