Hey out there,
I love a good movie, but I really hate bad movies. Whether a movie is good or bad will even affect my ability to remember it. I first noticed this when I was answering trivia questions on a sweet trivia game website I was invited to, www.kwanzoo.com. You can start with a topic that you love and as you answer you'll see yourself climb the ranks in real time. The site will also suggest other trivia topics you might like based on what you've already played. I noticed two things based on my performance: 1) I remember movies that I love better than those I hate, even if I saw both movies only once. I subconsciously pay more attention I think. 2) I'm not very good at trivia. Besides having a good story line to work with, what separates most good movies from bad movies? It's editing the film to fit the main audience. The movie "300" had no plot, but thats not why viewers went to see 300 men slaughter an army and themselves. The fight scenes were amongst the best footage ever recorded, and the film editors knew that viewers came to see gore. So, they didn't waste much time with talking, or any character development. They were totally justified. Now let's look at the three more recent Star Wars episodes... The majority of viewers did not come for violence, or overacting. They came to get the same "feeling" and "flowing" story, and were greeted with badly drawn out acting, no character chemistry, and fake looking CGI effects that actually looked like a regression from the old films... The lesson drawn form my experience? Bad movies cause alzheimer's disease. |
