| Fa Yeung Nin Wa (In the Mood for Love) - PG |
a nice story about unrequited love, but still in this film i have the same problems like i had with chungking express, another wongkarwai's stuff, i never really know what it is, i just don't feel both film is satisfactory enough, i dont know, maybe thats exactly what the director trying to do, for us to feel that way, just like the characters feels at the end, i dunno whether it could be the problem or the strength of the movie, all i know for now is that aspect is discouraging me to love the movie itself.. but i do have one thing that could encouraging me to love wongkarwai's work., yes, absolutely, the soundtrack.. |

| Ordet (The Word) - Unrated |
what a taut story this is, this is a very powerful film about faith seeing through different perspective of faith, great ! but im still not sure about the ending though., and just to quote roger ebert's thought about this movie : "Ordet is a difficult film to enter. But once you're inside, it is impossible to escape", i'd say that is spot on, this is truly an engaging film.. |

| Landscapes in the Mist (Topio stin omichli) - Unrated |
highly beautiful and moving movie with many monumental scenes and very artistic yet subtle style of directing by angelopoulos, the dying horse scene is brilliant, very rich and full of mixed emotions (reminds me a lot of bresson's style in balthazar), the magical transfixed citizens scene has left me transfixed too, and that visually striking final shot is one of the best moment ever and open to any interpretation., apart from it technical aspects, this is also a superb film with a great substance, the ignorance and the innocence of a child's live, very deep and powerful, what a great movie this is, this one is not to be missed especially for moviegoer who looking for more art in a movie.. |

brilliantly shocking film, lots of great moments, great quote, great images, and has a powerful impact as this film is about death and the existence of god., unfortunately, im not the biggest fan of bergman's style of directing in this movie.. |

| Au Hasard Balthazar - Unrated |
a masterpiece, this is the highest level of a movie, this is the perfect reason why movie is categorized as an art., robert bresson surely is a fantastic director, his way of handling a scene is beautiful, elegant, rich, and full of emotion. This is his first movie i have watched, and he amazed me right away, potentially one of my favorite director of all-time.. |

| Avatar - PG-13 | actually the first two hours is quite good and beyond my expectation, although sometimes feels a bit pretentious but it can't be called bad either, then comes the hollywood cliches that makes this movie feels 'cheap' and unclassy, and that last 40 minutes is very painful to watch, it destroy all the good foundation this movie has.. | December 30, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Hable con Ella (Talk to Her) - R | this is a complete movie, beautiful, well-acted, nice drama, very emotional (as almodovar always did), and hugely entertaining (thanks to the silent movie !), yet another outsanding movie from almodovar, all of his movie always hooked me in a special way ! | December 27, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Mikro Eglima (Small Crime) - Unrated | December 27, 2009 | N/A | ||||
| Tokyo Story (Tôkyô monogatari) - Unrated | sometimes the simplest story makes the most complicated impact on your soul, and this film is the perfect example. This is very heartfelt and very humanist film without even trying to be. | December 25, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Les Enfants du Paradis (Children of Paradise) - Unrated | December 24, 2009 | N/A | ||||
| 8 1/2 - Unrated |
yes i could see why this film routinely places high at most of the best-movie-of-all-time list, i could feel the greatness, i can touch it, but i couldn't hug it yet, i haven't get the whole of fellini's idea yet, i guess this is the kind of movie that will grows better as you watched it again. that's the only reason why this movie missed it's very well deserved half star from me, it's my wall of stupidity, but i'm quite confident that i could break that wall with the second viewing (which is the same way for me to understand synecdoche, new york, a very similar movie ideologically in my opinion)., oh and this film inspired some of the great modern movie, especially adaptation and synecdoche, new york of course (so, i guess andy kaufman must be his number 1 fan, then), and this movie has the greatest opening sequences i ever seen., one thing for sure, i smiled when this film ends, not only because it greatness, but also because of the fact that i already own a treasure.. |

| Indecent Proposal - R | this is not a bad movie, quiet powerful, although the plot is kinda lame, but this movie has a genuine romantic feeling that another romantic movie like titanic would've been proud of, and we should give a credit for that, right? | December 21, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Synecdoche, New York - R |
a lot of people think this is an arrogant movie because they thought this is a personal movie from kaufman and this is all about him, his dreams, his mind, and zero fun, but not for me, for me this film is all about human's life, all about us, everyone, and also has the entertainment aspect with kaufman's typical dark, absurd, and bizzare sense of humor., in my opinion, this is a contemplative movie but not crafted "contemplatively in a traditional way", so maybe that's the problem, people who watched this felt this is a regular movie like others kaufman stuff movie, so it's normal that they expected a great fictional entertainment like his previous writing, not this contemplative movie., and maybe that's also the reason why he direct this himself, because no one could have done like what he did and what he want it to be done., for me, this is the most deep, affecting, insightful, and ambitious film from charlie kaufman, and i believe this is gonna be a classic movie for the future, and charlie kaufman is one of the most important director in this generation.. |
