64
Jacob's Ladder (1990,  R)
Jacob's Ladder
This movie is excellent. Death truly is a painful journey. What will you see when the Grim Reaper visits you?

Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens (Nosferatu, a Symphony of Horror) (Nosferatu the Vampire)
Genuinely creepy. Great visual storytelling of a vampire before they became the pretty, romanticized creatures we see in films today.
66
Shadow of the Vampire (2000,  R)
Shadow of the Vampire
Brilliant retelling of the making of Nosferatu. Willem Dafoe is unrecognizeable as Mas Schreck, a real vampire hired to play an actor playing a vampire.
67
I Spit on Your Grave (Day of the Woman) (1978,  R)
I Spit on Your Grave (Day of the Woman)
Low budget cult classic. A tale of revenge of the worst kind. Still the most disturbing scene I think any man could watch...

The Last House on the Left (1972,  Unrated)
The Last House on the Left
The very definition of being brutal to your audience. Another Wes Craven masterpiece.
74

May
Desperation at it's disturbing best. Angela Bettis is awesome.

Pamela Voorhees turns Camp Crystal Lake into Camp Blood. The original that started the legend.
76
Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981,  R)
Friday the 13th Part 2
Great kills in this one. I personally think Jason is scarier in this one with the sack on his head with only one eye hole cut in it. The legend continues to grow...
77
Nightbreed (1990,  R)
Nightbreed
Very cool that a writer gets to bring his own vision to the screen. David Cronenberg's performance adds a very creepy element to this tale of outsiders trying to stay away from the real monsters...humans.
78
Hellraiser (1987,  R)
Hellraiser
Pinhead. Nuff said.
79
Friday the 13th Part 3 (1982,  R)
Friday the 13th Part 3
Make-up is a let down in this one...but it was in 3D! Jason gets the hockey mask.
80
The Prophecy (1995,  R)
The Prophecy
Christopher Walken as God's avenging angel. Despite the write-up below, I think it's a great tale that raises some very valid questions about religion and blind faith. Viggo Mortensen embodies a very charming, seductive Devil. I like it.
81
The Shining (1980,  R)
The Shining
Stanley Kubrick takes on horror master Stephen King's tale of madness & murder in the isolated Overlook hotel. Jack Nicholson is incredible. Perfection achieved.

Alien (1979,  R)
Alien
In space, no one can hear you scream! Atmosphere. Creatures. Darkness. Awesome.
83
Aliens (1986,  R)
Aliens
A sequel that stands up to the original. Different enough to stand on it's own and actually expand on the story-line.
84
The Lost Boys (1987,  R)
The Lost Boys
Rock star vampires. The Frog brothers. Great one-liners and a pretty awesome storyline. The soundtrack doesn't suck either.
85
The Ugly (1997,  R)
The Ugly
Totally underated horror flick. Simon is a serial killer afflicted with bizarre visions that compell him to kill and kill again. I highly recommend for any fan of horror.
86
Full Metal Jacket (1987,  R)
Full Metal Jacket
Like 2 movies in one. The first part is as about a realistic depiction of Marine Corps bootcamp as I've ever seen. The second part is pure Kubrick & his view on Vietnam. A winner.
87
Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (1986,  NC-17)
Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer
Based on the real life exploits of Henry Lee Lucas & his recorded "confessions". A truly disturbing movie.
88
One False Move (1992,  R)
One False Move
Great character driven drama from director Carl Franklin. I think this is a truly underated, little-known movie. Tense.
89
Frailty (2002,  R)
Frailty
Awesome. Simply perfect.
90
The Bride of Frankenstein (1935,  Unrated)
The Bride of Frankenstein
The Monster demands a Mate. Great tagline. The Monster is befriended by a blind man that teaches him to speak. Hate the living. Love the dead.
91
For Love of the Game (1999,  PG-13)
For Love of the Game
Maybe Kevin Costner's best baseball movie. Proof that a great director does not need to confine himself to one genre. Sam Raimi takes a story of the end of a relationship & turns it into an aging athlete's shining moment.
92
K-PAX (2001,  PG-13)
K-PAX
A "makes-you-wonder" movie. Maybe the mentally ill aren't really mentally ill... Kevin spacey gives a very compelling performance. Great!
93
My Bloody Valentine (1981,  R)
My Bloody Valentine
This is a classic 80's slasher! A bloody heart in a valentine's candy box. Awesome...
94
The Boondock Saints (1999,  R)
The Boondock Saints
Outstanding!
95
Sling Blade (1997,  R)
Sling Blade
I first saw this film in my Directing class in film school. I know why my instructor chose it, there is not much wrong that the director did here. Billy Bob got out of the way of the story and let the characters & the story shine through. I recently rewatched this movie with a friend that had never seen it and it made me have an all-new appreciation for this movie brilliance.
96
The Apostle (1998,  PG-13)
97
30 Days of Night (2007,  R)
30 Days of Night
The only "vampire" movie I've ever seen where the vampires were scary and I felt sorry for the humans. This movie is incredibly well done and completely captures the feeling of isolation & utter terror the survivors of the first wave of attacks experience over the course of 30 days. Excellent movie. I highly recommend it to anyone that would like to see a good, bloody, scary horror movie!
98
Diary of the Dead (2007,  R)
Diary of the Dead
George Romero's most personal independent movie since 1968's 'Night of the Living Dead'. He brings the 'Dead' films into the current time while still telling an apocalyptic vision of humanity and still finding new and visually interesting ways of dispatching the walking dead. I loved it.
99
Zombi 2 (Zombie) (Zombie Flesh Eaters) (Zombie 2: The Dead are Among Us)(Island of the Flesh-Eaters) (1980,  R)
Zombi 2 (Zombie) (Zombie Flesh Eaters) (Zombie 2: The Dead are Among Us)(Island of the Flesh-Eaters)
Great for anyone that likes Romero's 'Dead' movies. Set on a non specific island it shows a possible origin for the epidemic of 'living dead'. Some truly awesome visually disturbing scenes throughout this movie. Slow and plodding, just like zombies should be.
100
The Others (2001,  PG-13)
The Others
Took me completely off guard. Creepy and terrifying. This one will make you jumpl!
101
Bubba Ho-Tep (2003,  R)
Bubba Ho-Tep
There has never been a better on-screen Elvis. Bruce Campbell nails it! This movie has it all Elvis, JFK, and a killer mummy! Must see movie madness!
102
The Call of Cthulhu (2005,  Unrated)
The Call of Cthulhu
Mesmerizing. This short movie was able to create the same creepy feeling that reading Lovecraft's writings could. Quite possibly the first honest interpretation of Lovecraft's work on film to date.
