To be honest, I actually didn't know that much about Coco Chanel prior the film, but still, I had my expectations.

Throughout the film Fontaine's direction is stylish, but she fails to find any particularly special view on Coco's life. Personally, I would've wanted to see more about her work ie. how she practically found her unique style. Her big break just seems to happen all too easily, which I'm sure wasn't the case.

On the plus side, the film succeeds in painting a clear portrait of a woman with determination and vision, with Audrey Tautou bringing in the sufficient elegance.
