| The Big Lebowski - R |
Bowling, mistaken identity, Chandler-esque plots, another Buscemi death scene. What a wickedly fun, mixed up flick this is. Like Monty Python, though, the Coens really need to work on their endings. Did the Dude ever get his rug issue resolved? |

| Spotswood (The Efficiency Expert) - PG |
An obvious tale of the melting of an icy heart. Anthony Hopkins plays an efficiency expert who sees employees as just another resource to cut if they get in the way of the bottom line. When he's hired by a failing show company he actually gets to meet and understand the workers and realises they aren't just a cost on a spreadsheet. A bit schmaltzy and sentimental, and you have to know where this is going very early on, but watchable nonetheless. |

| Disturbia - PG-13 |
A decent Hitchcockian Rear Window rip-off transplanted from a block of flats to Suburbia, and utilising all the technology of modern day. Still not 100% why we needed the red herring opening scene, but what the hell. The film won't win any awards or stay with you for very long, as the plot is very obvious - maybe moreso than Rear Window - and the oddly unattractive, yet attractive neighbour is little more than eye candy. |

| Road to Perdition - R | decent gangster flick and points for being based on a graphic novel! | January 29, 2009 | N/A | |||
| In Bruges - R | a rather bittersweet gangster film that traded all the grimy Guy Ritchie trademarks for wonderful scenery and more human, less cartoony hoods who discuss the ramifications of their action. A real interesting turn for Farrell. | January 18, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Burn After Reading - R | A bit odd and disjointed. Definitely not the best Coen Bros flick, but it had a couple of shining moments. | January 6, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Charlie Wilson's War - R | really interesting take on the afghan war. Always nice to see another side of events. The film really glossed over the Good Time Charlie aspects, which was fine, as the political intrigue - thanks to a script from Aaron Sorkin - was riviting enough! | December 30, 2008 | N/A | |||
| The Day the Earth Stood Still - PG-13 |
Why oh why didn't I listen to the reviews? I loved the original, but in the remake nothing happened - except for GORT decomposing into odd metal bugs. The plus side is Jennifer Connelly, but one person does not hold together a film. |

| Bottle Shock - PG-13 | interesting tale of how the California wine industry came into it's own. Decent acting from Rickman - as usual - and interesting turn from the future Capt. Kirk. | December 25, 2008 | N/A | |||
| Kit Kittredge: An American Girl Mystery - G |
set in the depression, it's a children's tale of how a bunch of kids survive when money's tight and parents are doing what they can to survive. Obviously aimed at kids, the "gang" turn detective when there's transpirings a going on. The end, which is weepy by numbers will catch you if you let it, so have a tissue on hand. |

| Surviving Christmas - PG-13 |
not as bad as it should have been, and the funny bits were quite outloud funny. It's worth a rent, especially over the holidays, but I would avoid buying at pretty much all costs. |

| Walkabout - R |
As Jeff from "Coupling" once said, Jenny Agutter in a film is a guarantee of nudity and this flick is no different. An interesting look at how two very urbane British kids learn to survice in the desert, along with an Aborigine boy. They don't speak the same language, but manage to communicate nonetheless. |

| Deja Vu - PG-13 | actually a decent thriller with enough pseudo science to make it almost believable. Took a few minutes to work through the logic at the end, but it seems to pan out. | November 26, 2008 | N/A | |||
| Good Morning, Miss Dove - Unrated | a strict teacher who seems to be continually loved by ex-students, to the point that it's almost a national holiday when she goes in for an operation. how can anyone work or learn when miss dove's health is in the balance? pure 50s schmaltz. | November 21, 2008 | N/A | |||
| Vantage Point - PG-13 | November 16, 2008 | N/A | ||||
| Before the Devil Knows You're Dead - R |
whenever you think you've had a bad day, spare a thought for the Hanson brothers. Both in debt to the hilt, both in lives they wish they weren't in, and then an easy out comes their way... which doesn't prove to be all that easy and they lose more than they ever thought possible. Quite gripping stuff, wonderfully acted, even if Marisa Tomei's chest kept distracting on more than one occasion. |

| The 40 Year Old Virgin - R | November 2, 2008 | N/A | ||||
| Over Her Dead Body - PG-13 |
I could have lived without ever seeing this. Desperate Housewife plays an overbearing bitch that Mke from Friends is much better off without, so no real sympathy there. The only good thing about this flick is Mike from Friends playing... Mike from Friends. Biggsy's pretty good too as the gay catering assistant. |

| Hot Tamale - R |
pretty pedestrian affair that looked much better in the trailer (they always do). Jason Priestley in a very very very minor role. However there's a few other people you recognise by sight - including the crazy Sparkle Motion mum from "Donnie Darko" and Roscoe P. Coltrane from "Dukes of Hazzard". Watchable - especially for Diora Baird - breath of fresh air - but completely forgettable. |

| How to Lose Friends & Alienate People - R |
Not the best Pegg vehicle, but fun in parts and completely watchable. A bit forumalic toward the end (what RomCom isn't?) and you can pretty much guess chunks of the plot from the off. Pegg, as usual, is the best thing in this (followed closely by The Dude). Also, watch out for at least TWO Star Wars references in the Mother Theresa trailer. |

| Macbeth - Unrated | I guess you had to be in the right frame of mind to watch this. As it was, I turned it off after about an hour. | October 6, 2008 | N/A | |||
| Man of the Year - PG-13 |
TV comedian becomes president-elect, although because of a computer glitch he isn't. Decently acted, and an interesting take on the US electoral system. As always Walken is a treat. |

| I'll Sleep When I'm Dead - R |
Bit of a Get Carter rip off from... the man who brought us Get Carter, Mike Hodges. Clive Owen is an ex-gangster, brought back to the life he left to find out why his brother killed himself. The reason why, when we discover it, is really really lame all thanks to Malcolm McDowell and the worst reasoning ever. |
