Meh. Again, the best bits were in the trailer. If I ever had a priest THIS interested in me, I'd be getting a restraining order. Still, the "Tatoo" character to Robin William's "Mr Rourke" was quite fun to watch. |

| Garden State - R | great coming of age flick, that could have made one of the more serious Scrubs episode... only this has Natalie Portman as well. | June 7, 2008 | N/A | |||
| Swingers - R | This movie is so money, but you obviously have to say that. Favreau's finest achievement. | May 25, 2008 | N/A | |||

Two words - NEIL. GAIMAN. Excellent film. It truly is a fairy tale for adults. |

| Weirdsville - R |
Interesting Canadian indie flick roping in Satanists, midgets, druggies and Max Headroom. A bit disjointed but mindless fun nonetheless. Worth the rent for the cry of "Double-doubles are on me!" |

| Real Genius - PG |
Awesome film, highly under-rated and filled with excellent zingy one-liners. More people need to see this. |

| Smokin' Aces - R |
Pretty fun - if not incredibly violent - flick with 3 actors from Lost in it... Jeremy Piven plays it great as Buddy "Aces" Israel, the magician turned mobster who's completely losing it. |

| The Omega Man - PG |
More a snapshot of 1971s cinematic style (those crazy zoom out shots were beginning to make me sick) than the surreal tale of man's fight against the "family". This film is still quite a decent flick, only let down by Charlton Heston's horrid acting and his moobs he seems to want to get out at EVERY opportunity. Allso, what the hell is up with that stunt double? His hair wasn't even the same colour! |

| This Filthy World - Unrated | Great talk by John Waters about his film career and just about anything else that comes into his head. On a par with the Kevin Smith talk flicks, but this one's more scripted and not a rambling QA session. | April 20, 2008 | N/A | |||
| Superbad - R | superfun! end of high school romp that gets out of hand over the course of the evening. many set pieces, many laughs, and McLovin! What else do you want? Drunken on-duty cops? check. | April 19, 2008 | N/A | |||
| Sherrybaby - R |
A stirring tale of a woman fresh from prison who thinks the world has wronged her and owes her everything. Through the film she realises that she's owed exactly what she's been given and it's heartbreaking watching her come to that realisation. Along the way you get to see Maggie Gyllenhaal topless far too many times as her character tries to come to grips with how to live without using sex to get what she wants. Heavy stuff indeed. |

| Sicko - PG-13 |
I know you have to take the man with a grain of salt, and having lived in Canada and the UK, I know the health systems are the utopia he paints, but sheesh. If his portrayal of the US health system is 10% accurate, I AM so glad I wasn't born or live there. I know it capitalism at its best, but capitalism at its best these days seem to be "screw everyone you can for the sake of the greenback", as highlighted by the number of get out clauses US HMO seems to have when it comes to paying insurance claims. Nice stunt with the 9/11 rescue workers as well. What could have been exploitation turned into a rather heart-warming humanitarian anecdote. |

| Shoot 'Em Up - R |
With tongue firmly in cheek this fast paced plot hole as large as Texas flick is the most fun you can have legally. Borrowing liberally from video games, James Bond, the old Roadrunner/coyote cartoons, graphic novels and Bugs Bunny this film will have you laughing, crying and punching the air all at once. There were issues when the film came out about the posters glorifying gun culture. If anytime it's a dark satire on gun culture, to the point where Owen's character utters "I never carry a gun". This is must see fun. |

| Amores Perros - R |
Holy momma, am I glad I don't live in Mexico - DOG FIGHTS??? This film works on a hundred different levels, dealing with all forms of deep and meaningfuls - family, lust, betrayal, etc. As is becoming the norm in art-house flicks, it's told through 3 intersecting stories of varying interest. The middle one made me really root for anything that would hurt the characters - they really annoyed me. The last story was an interesting mix of betrayal and redemption. Great flick. |

| American Gangster - R |
Harlem was once worth living in. Then the drug-rot and the junkies ruined it. This is pretty much how one black man turned his own people against each other and made Harlem the horror it is today. Wonderful film and a stirring indictment of what heroin can do to a community as well as how much money you can make from it. |

Wonderfully disjointed story about three separate lives that intersect over a horrific accident. Wonderfully acted by Del Toro, Penn and Watts. |

| There Will Be Blood - R |
Well the title doesn't lie. Good tale about what you quickly come to realise is an unscrupulous, amoral oil baron from the late 19th century. An epic tale with an epic length of almost three hours. |

| Whipped - R |
This film is TERRIBLE. The only reason I rented this was Amanda Peet, and she was outshone by horrible acting, dreadful cinematography and an asinine script that had you reaching for the stop button 10 minutes in. Only reason I kept going was to see the Peet, who comes in about 1/2 way through. Avoid this film. btw, the twist is Amanda Peet's character is a "scammer" just like the guys and wanted to play them at their game. AVOID! |

| No Country for Old Men - R | Never trust a man with a horrid haircut! Great film, wonderful scenery and a perfect "if only you hadn't done that, the movie wouldn't have happened" moment. Classic Coen. | March 14, 2008 | N/A | |||
