There Will Be Blood
R
i don't even know where to begin with this film because my petty words wouldnt be enough to praise this film's geniusness. All 2 hours and 38 mins of it were more than worth it. I wasn't too familiar with Daniel-Day Lewis before seeing this film (having only seen 'The Bounty' prior) and now after only this one rivating performance he has become one of my heros. He embodies Plainview to his fullest making you want to like him at the beginning and then making up despise every bit of him. Paul Sunday the boy preacher was amazingly played by Paul Dano who's performance should have been nominated and praised. There isn't one element of this film i do not like, from the directing, to the cinematography, to the soundtrack to the amaizng acting, everything is genius and Paul Thomas Anderson has created a cult classic. Milkshakes for all!!

Mean Creek
R
this film is pure bliss, i loved absolutly every minute of it. The camera used to film it made the film even better you got the raw feeling of the story and it made it feel that much more real. You don't know whether to feel bad or not for the 'victim' did he have it coming or not. All the performances are great, they all portray very well the sense of hate and fright and torture they all felt throughout the film.

Gangster No. 1
R
oh my goodness i cannot tell how much i am in love with this film, it has introduced me to a whole new genre of british mob gangster films. Paul Bettany is absolutly rivating as the no.1 gangster, i love the silent bits where you see him screaming but all you hear is a screech. And the menacing look on his face when he's murdering a foe. I still don't udnerstand why people don't give Paul more praise for his genius work. Paul Mcguigan has created a work of art and his finest moment in the film is the fact that he decided to show the most gruesome murder in the film from the victims perspective, that is pure brilliance!

Juno
PG-13
honestly after seeing it the first time (i saw it twice) i knew this would forever be in my top favorite films, the characters are all hilarious in their own way and you can find a bit of your trueself in all of them esp. the teens. Juno has to be one of the smartest and most real characters we've seen in a long time, they castn the amazing Ellen Page well, aswell as Micheal Cera and Olivia Thirlby. Juno shall be a new classic

Little Miss Sunshine
R
such an original story, this is a film i watch over and over and over again and never cease to find amazement in it. You fall in love with the characters because of the fact that they accept their faults, and learn to accept the faults of their family. This definetly deserved to win best picture because of it's amazingly well written story and the help of the directors and actors. The soundtrack is also genius. one of my favorite films

The Squid and the Whale
R
these characters lives are so intriguing and once you get to the end you are wishing you could have lived more with them. I especially enjoyed the two son's. Frank is hilarious from the swearing to the mastubating he's is a loveable 12 year old and then these's Frank who seems completely lost in himself he doesn't really say the right thing at the right time and can be a bit of a mess up but in such a naive way. Both parents were brilliantly played by Linney and Daniels and you sympathized with them and were not able to choose which one you liked better. great film
