  SaintFrancisofAssisi's Rating My Rating
1
The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring (2001,  PG-13)
The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring
Review to slowly unravel as I have time....
2
The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers (2002,  PG-13)
The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers
While at Catholic Girl's Camp this year I was introduced to some interesting and rather revealing insights into this movie. I still love watching certain parts of it, that I don't think will change readily, but if you really examine the books and the movies side by side, you'll find them to be quite different. Sr. Philomena remarked that the movies were what appealed to people these days, there were many battle scenes, and the women had low cut dresses. She informed me, for I had forgotten, that a battle in one of the movies took several scenes, whereas it was only one or two pages in the books. Tolkien was a strong Roman Catholic, and I highly doubt he would be compliant with the way the movies were filmed or some of the costumes. Further words to follow.
3
The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King (2003,  PG-13)
The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King
Review to follow as time alloweth me. .
4
The Princess Bride (1987,  PG)
The Princess Bride
I remember watching this as a little girl and being infatuated with it. The charm wore off as I grew older; but every now and then I enjoy seeing it again.
The sword fight between Westley and Inigo has always stuck in my mind; and been a particular favorite scene in this film.
However, I don't agree with Inigo seeking revenge by killing the six fingered man, however he did, and I can't do anything to change it, except skip that scene, not a favorite of mine. It's not that I'm squeamish, after watching the Lord of the Rings and seeing 'things', but it just struck an annoyance cord in me.
The battle of wits is another part I don't mind watching more than once. It's interesting and a bit satisfying to watch that short little man die laughing
5
Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl
First one is the best, second is fine, third is a bit unhappy of an ending.
6
The Scarlet Pimpernel (1982,  Unrated)
The Scarlet Pimpernel
I've always enjoyed watching this version of the Scarlet Pimpernel; and the book is incredible as well; for other fans who haven't read it; you should.
7
Ella Enchanted (2004,  PG)
Ella Enchanted
Pretty good movie, but the book is so much better. Overall though, it was decent enough, but not what I was hoping. Hugh Dancy made a good prince, though.

The flying was realistic so that was nice. Good movie. Not sure if it followed the book, but I don't care on this one.

Good movie, good boy, good dogs, good story, hee hee. About a boy named Will (love that name) who wants to save the farm and go to college. In order to do that he wants to run a dog race, and he's never raced before. Only one winner, ten thousand dollars, and a hot competition, who will win?

13
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe (2005,  PG)
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe
Better then I expected, since movies generally don't follow books. C.S. Lewis was a great author! Look forward to Prince Caspian and Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and I hope they are as good as the books.
14
The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938,  PG)
The Adventures of Robin Hood
My favorite Robin Hood, except I would have chosen Patric Knowles as Robin Hood, and no hair on the chin!
15
Ever After - A Cinderella Story (1998,  PG-13)
Ever After - A Cinderella Story

Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope
Not my favorite in the trilogy, but it's not my least favorite, as you get introduced to all the characters.
47
The Black Swan (1942,  Unrated)
The Black Swan
Very good movie. In the very beginning you can see wrinkles on the sunset scenery, which is rather funny, but I don't really mind. Also thought it was funny when he was carrying Margaret and just dropped her like a sack of potatoes. You'd have to watch it to know what I'm talking about.
48

Princess of Thieves (2001,  Unrated)

56
Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003,  PG-13)
Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World
The ending was a bit weird and left me thinking there should be a sequel, but I have not heard of any plans for one. *laughs* The main reason I lynched it from the library was because it had Billy Boyd in it, though he played a very small part, and I ended up enjoying it very much.

Arsenic and Old Lace
A classic of old Hollywood; filled with beautiful acting and clever dialogue.
63
Shattered Glass (2003,  PG-13)
Shattered Glass
Besides for one part that had to be skipped, some guys were smoking drugs I think, and another part had to be muted for inappropriate topics, but other than language, which is not a good thing, it was a good movie. Based on a true person, Stephen Glass.

Snow White: The Fairest of Them All (2002,  Unrated)
Snow White: The Fairest of Them All
This isn't the best made film. But then why, somebody might ask, is it in my favorite films? It's there because I love fairy tales and happy endings, and of course it helped to have a handsome prince mixed in there.
