Cast Away (2000,  PG-13)
Cast Away
When I really stop and think about it, the film is brilliantly executed. The scenery is absolutely breath taking, the special effects are so well done that you don't even realize that there are special effects present. This seems to be a trademark of Robert Zemeckis (case and point, "Forrest Gump"). The acting is very good, although, there's only 2 real sources of acting in this film, Tom Hanks and Helen Hunt. The rest of the cast was good, but their roles were very minor. Tom Hanks pulls off another great performance, as usual. You really can feel all of his emotions while he's stuck on the island. Also, not many actors have changed their physical appearance like Tom Hanks did for this film, I truly applaud him for his work. As much as I liked Russell Crow in "Gladiator", I firmly believe that Tom Hanks deserved it more (although that would be his third Oscar). Helen Hunt also pulls off a very nice performance. There is also a good deal of comedy in the film, and it is done very well.

This is one of the few films that I strongly recommend you watch. There aren't a great many films that I would say this, but this one I would. Although...if you aren't a fan of Tom Hanks, then you might have some trouble with this film because a great deal of the film is him alone on an island. So, if that is the case, then you are off the hook. So, I hope you watch the film, and I hope that you enjoy it.

This Is England (2007,  Unrated)
This Is England
AMAZING BRITISH FILM!!!
A brilliant portrayal of the underdog, the outsider showing a grim side to Britain in the glossy 80's. A vividly realistic film that is both very funny and very hard hitting. Like some of the great 60's realism films (Saturday Night, Sunday Morning) This Is England is excellent. The acting, the 80's detail and the soundtrack are spot on.

Control (2007,  R)
Control
I read the reviews of this film and decided it was worth a shot.
This film is beautifully made.
Before this film I did not know of Joy Divsion's work but the acting in this film by the major players was excellent. Sam Riley as Curtis is very very good as is Samantha Morton as his downtrodden wife. I thought the guy who played the manager was hilarious.
I was convinced that I wouldn't like this but came away feeling that this was an amazing film.

Even if you don't like Punk music or Joy Division - go watch. Well worth it.

Severance (2006,  R)
Severance
Funny and scary... what more do u want..,best film of 2006..
This is a KEY example of what British comedy's shoud be like. Also this film is a horror, but is not the scarest film you'll ever see! But I feel this film should have done much better at the box office. A different, yet compelling British film

In the Hands of the Gods (2007,  Unrated)
In the Hands of the Gods
Love or loathe football... You WILL love this...!
This film contains no actors, but documents 5 ordinary men who live doing the thing they love - skills with the football. In this documentary, we see the 5 men travel from New York to Argentina with NO money at all, making all their money by doing the thing they love - performing.
This is not just a documentary on football but is a "coming-of-age" documentary, which brings real emotion to the film. One for males, females, kids and adults, I guarentee that you will love it..!

Casino Royale

Right at Your Door (2007,  R)
Right at Your Door
"Right at your door" is one of those films that, seemingly not received well upon release, will in future years will be regarded as a bit of a cult. It has everything a thriller needs; tension, realism, scares and a protagonist who is altogether human and trying to cope in what can only be described as exceptional circumstances.

Only one other film has kept my pulse racing from the first to the final minute and that was the 2004 adaption of "Dawn of the Dead". It is easy to see the similarities; a world gone crazy and the authorities are overwhelmed in the face of the devastating event.

The film does not suffer for the lack of money; I would even go so far to say that it does better with a small budget than so many blockbusters could ever do with their bottomless pits of cash.

It starts as any normal working day would. The wife Lexi gets up for work, goes through the daily routine, kisses husband Brad goodbye and heads off for another day at the grindstone. Brad puts the radio on and soon after, the music is broken by a special announcement; downtown Los Angeles has been hit by four simultaneous explosions. Brad continually tries to phone his wife but gets no answer. Never before has the sound of an unanswered phone sounded so sinister. Brad then leaps into his car and tries to get downtown to find his wife. He eventually gives up realising that the authorities have already blocked off his way through.

But that's not the worst of it all, the unfolding horror reveals that the explosions were chemical devices and the spreading cloud contains toxic fumes. It is a race against time to get the house sealed, angst and desperation overwhelms Brad as waits desperately for news both on his wife and on the city.

I would be lying if I told you that this was a feel good film; I would be lying if I said that it is anything but an emotionally intense film that doesn't let up for a single minute. However, it is easily one of my favourite films. An INSTANT favourite.

Goal! The Dream Begins (Goal!: The Impossible Dream)
Shocked how much i actually liked this! The plot may not be the most original (rags to riches story), but this was a really good film, would give it 5*s but it got really cheesy in some parts, which is never good >_>

Okay, my expectations of this film were low as I thought Football Factory was so bad... BUT I enjoyed this SO SO SO much...
