Violent, gory.contrived, but hey it is RAMBO!!!! What else do you want from this movie? The scenes were like a mixture of war movie and video kills. Rambo is not afraid to get the job done. This action movie is over so quickly! I love John Rambo! (even at 60)

A very well written Scifi movie. I didn't expect this movie to be as good as it was. The thing that makes this movie so great is that it is something new, not some story that is overused with some change in details. All the performances were good. I thought the day would never come where i would see Chris Evans give a good performance in a movie, but i have to admit that he proved me wrong in this movie. I was really impressed at how well this movie was made. The story never rushes but still captures the audience in such a way that it never becomes boring. Very well done, i enjoyed every bit of it. Watch it!

Tatum O'Neil became the youngest person to win an Oscar for this movie. And I think she definitely deserved it. I loved this movie. It is delightfully shot in B&W. I am a big fan of Tatum as a young actress and she does not disappoint. Her developing relationship with the con man is endearing and well played. Ryan O'Neil's (Tatum's real life father) character grows on you as you realize he is finding a soft spot for this little girl. I am so glad I watched this movie. I almost want to watch it again, immediately.

    Beowulf Beowulf
    by Ovi
OMG, i have never seen such a perfect combination between an animation action adventure fantasy film ever before. Absolutely mind blowing effects, not to mention probably the best representation of a dragon i've seen in years both the looks and in size, the hottest demon ever Grendel's mom with a cry that would freeze even the warmest hearts, and the mighty warrior Beowulf that slains Grandel bear handed but still falls for Grendel's mom beauty and lies. I'm not sure if the film follows the myth of Beowulf corectly cuz i have never red it and the 1999 film with Christopher Lambert is very different but anyway i don't care, this one clearly is a favourite of mine, incredible movie, worth every penny, so take ur but and go see it at the cinema or at least a big screen tv, it's worth it. I'm glad i didn't watch it on my pc. F*****g awesome. ENJOY!!!!!

National Treasure: Book of Secrets National Treasure: Book of Secrets
    by Jens
Treasure hunter Nicolas Cage and his team return for the second National Treasure adventure. The movie starts out with another historical look back to the assassination of Abraham Lincoln and leads straight to the influences it has on this adventure. The plot gives a little more space to Jon Voight's character than in the first film, which is a good decision, especially his chemistry with the wonderful Hellen Mirren makes for many laughs. Justin Bartha as sidekick still has the best lines, though. It's the second time for Ed Harris to be Cage's opponent after "The Rock" and he once again does a fine job. Sure, some of the clues, chases and ideas are a little silly and unrealistic at times, but the treasure hunt is so fast, amusing and entertaining and the characters so likable that the two hours pass by like nothing. Especially the balance trap is a brilliant idea and makes for a great sequence, as do all the famous places and sceneries the adventurers come across during their journey. Not entirely as charming and outstanding as the first movie, but still fine entertainment without regrets.

Wow, the second viewing really changed my idea on this film, it really is something.
    Snow Cake Snow Cake
    by Craig
    Directed by: Marc Evans.
Starring: Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Carrie-Anne Moss, Emily Hampshire.

"Yesterday, he took my hands and danced with me. Every time, he does something new...how ever small, it's a brilliant feeling. I wish everyone could get to know someone like my little brother, he makes you look at things in a brand new way. Some people say that James won't ever do the things I do, but it doesn't matter, he'll just do different things. I love my little brother so much and one day I know he'll tell me he loves me to."

The story follows a man named Alex, a man with a past and with such sadness. On his travels through Ontario to see an 'old friend', he stops of at a truck stop and is approached by a very vibrant young girl asking for a ride home. An tragic car accident occurs killing Vivienne instantly and Alex believes it is the best thing to travel to her hometown and meet her mother. Alex soon finds out that Vivienne's mother is highly autistic with her own way of living and he soon becomes attached with not only her, but the very 'friendly' neighbor.

Angela Pell, first time screenwriter (and someone who has an autistic son herself) has really written a fantastic script. I think it really is one of the more difficult ideas to bring to film, especially when you want to do it right. Although it may have points aimed at pushing the sentimentality onto the audience, nothing is forced. Beautifully rich in character, unexpectedly witty and dry and carrying a warm and gentle heart at the core, it is not only a very good showcase of sub-character for what we all see as 'normal' people and the reminder for us to not forget to stop in life and find out who we truly are, but a very real and insightful look into autism. Not only does it not display autistic people as 'idiots', or even as outcasts, we are shown there own personal way of life and living and there completely unconventional way of dealing with the emotional and loss around every corner.

Marc Evan's is a name I had seen before on a lot of low budget films that attempt to be 'mainstream', but I think he has really set a name for himself after this film...something more fitting in the independent scene. In style, he is quite limited, which might seem like a bad thing, but every simple choice he makes adds another level of genuinty to the story. From the sweetly poetic focuses on the simple things, to the right doses of genuine intensity and emotion...and the step-backs to let the actors shine, Marc really shows craftsmanship in something so simple.

The performances are astonishing. Sigourney Weaver has always proved to be an essence on screen to beat, especially playing strong-willed characters, but this time around, she goes for something a little bit more challenging...playing an autistic woman. She delivers astonishingly well with her near pitch-perfect profoundness of the complexities of her characters mind, its a role screaming for an Oscar, but its unlikely she will get recognized. Carrie-Anne Moss works well on the little she is given but shows great presence and Emily Hampshire is so sweet and full of charisma. Even with a dozen strong performances, none stand close to Alan Rickman. He is the standout here and delivers one of his deepest and more fitting roles of his career. His typical dry and tone perfect humor is a brilliant match for the wit of the film and not only that, but he inhabits the roles underlying sadness and intricate layers and its really a showcase for his amazing talent.

I think I have said everything I have wanted to say, there's no need to write a closing statement on my opinion.

    86/100

"Have you ever had an orgasm, Alex?"..."It has been known"..."It sounds like an inferior version of what I feel when I have a mouthful of snow."

Give this a try!..it takes awhile to get to the heist, but worth the wait!
    The Lookout The Lookout
    by David B
Considering that Joseph Gordon-Levitt was in one of my favorite movies last year (Brick). Then Stephen King named it as 1 of his top 10 movies in his article in Entertainment Weekly. I was looking forward to seeing this bank heist thriller. Well, it wasn't exactly as good as Brick, but still a good movie. The 2nd half is where the movie really kicks it up! Its not exactly the robbery, but what goes on after that is entertaining. All the red herrings and double crosses. And they don't disappoint! And the ending is very satisfying and gives you hope for Gordon-Levitts character Lewis! Unfortunatly its the 1st half that brings this movie down. Its very slow and methodical. And may turn off viewers before they can get to the good parts? Gordon-Levitt shows he knows how to pick off beat and quirky characters that are interesting to watch, and see where they lead you in the coarse of the movie. He does an excellent job of showing all the confusion and anxiety of not knowing who or what you are after a traumatic head injury. And the desire to be "HIM" again. And Jeff Daniels deserves credit for playing the blind roomate and best friend. He gives off a manic energy he hasn't had since Dumb and Dumber. All of the comic relief comes from him. This is a good movie for those who like this type. Definatly worth the time, energy and investment watching this gem of a movie.

Gary Spargo: My old man used to say to me, probably the only thing we ever really agreed on, was that whoever has the money has the power. You might wanna jot that down in your book. It's something you're gonna need to remember.

Check this triller out if your a Guy Pearce fan! Another good performance!
    First Snow First Snow
    by David B
Guy Pearce gives another raw performance as Jimmy Starks, a guy who goes through a lot of emotions in 101min. He starts out at the beginning of the film cocky, fast and loose, who's conversations always seems to go back to selling someone something to paranoid and looking around corners then resined to his fate, no matter what that may be, by the end! Truely one of the more diverse and best actors around who seems to thrive on the independent movie scene! And lets face it, the big studio's would probably waste him in a horrible movie. Also, J.K. Simmons, from OZ and Spiderman gives a surprisingly touching and emotional performance as Vacaro, the person who sets Jimmy on his path, who is in the movie for maybe 2 scenes but makes the most of his time on screen! Suprisingly and unfortunatly, William Fichtner dosen't give much of a performance and his character is basically a throw away, which is to bad! He's another great character actor. Now, for all those that think this is gonna be Memento 2, are gonna be very disappointed! This is a slowly paced movie, that takes its time to get to the end. The main focus is Jimmy's decline into paranoia, which isn't quick. Most of the side plot is there to help show this. And the ending is actually very good if not all that surprising! With credit going to cowriter/director Mark Fergus, who shows a steady hand at the controls. All and all a good movie worth checking out, especially if your a Guy Pearce fan.

Jimmy: [opening monologue] This road you're on... you put yourself on this road... on this exact night. Who chose this? A man makes his destiny, right? Nothing makes the gods laugh harder.
