Dressed to Kill
by DannyA masterful thriller for it sheer filmmaking brilliance, Brian De Palma was at the height of his powers here with this picture which is pure visual cinema, the strange tale of a mysterious, tall straight razor wielding blonde transexual who has murdered a psychiatrist's patient, and now this psychotic is after a young prostitute who witnessed the killing. This film also benefits greatly from the outstanding performances of Michael Caine, Angie Dickinson, and Nancy Allen. Extraordinary cinematography by the late Ralf D. Bode and a lush and chilling score by Pino Donnaggio. De Palma's elegant direction is what gives the film it's tight suspense. A very scary look into the dark- side of eroticism. Highly Recommended.

Black Christmas
by Arianeta"Black Christmas is a 1974 Canadian horror film, directed by Bob Clark, which has a very large cult following. It was written by A. Roy Moore, and based largely on a series of real-life murders in Montreal, Quebec, around Christmas time. Black Christmas stars Olivia Hussey as a young college student who must deal with a deranged killer lurking in her sorority house. Taking only 40 days to shoot, it also features Margot Kidder and Andrea Martin, before either had gained fame in the United States, John Saxon and Keir Dullea round out the cast. The film's score is by Carl Zittrer."
With the Christmas holidays I think it?s my duty to start watching some Christmas films some of them very famous and some almost unknowing like Black Christmas. I saw this on the big screen during Christmas afternoon and I have to say only one thing. Black Christmas is one of the most frightening movies ever seen. It is about a sorority that?s preparing for Christmas but they keep getting obscene phone calls from a psychopath and then, one by one, the caller kills the girls. It?s a great concept and that I really liked about this film it was the atmosphere that this movie builds. It?s so tense and you know the killer is the house but the girls don?t know it and you want to yell at the screen! It builds greater tension and puts you right there in the spooky position of our heroine. The movie itself has this emotion but there is a deep dark veil over it, I guess that?s the way to describe the atmosphere of it. Clark directed Black Christmas with a remarkably keen visual eye and we see the murders from the killer's perspective and it was a novel approach on these shores and would later become a fixture in slasher movies.
Also the movie boasts one of the greatest ending of any slasher movie I've ever seen, and I'm fascinated by director?s insistence on maintaining the ambiguity. So many horror movies feel compelled to give their killers some sort of clear motivation...some sort of sympathy, even if they are unrelentingly brutal murderers...but there is no long, meandering back-story in Black Christmas.
At last this film did something for me that a movie today would rarely do and that is scare the hell out of me. Granted, compared to now, the jump-out frights aren?t really that scary today but the phone calls? those are something else. I don?t know how to describe them other than: disturbing, loud, perverted and crazy. Every time the killer talked he impersonated several different people including a little kid, an old mother, the heroine and her boyfriend among others. It was so frightening. And, if that?s not enough, you never really see the killer other then his figure in the shadows and the one eye of his that happens to be in the light. It?s really frightening. From this Christmas afternoon I hear telephone ringing and I jump from my sit?..and the things are getting worst for me at the nights?.
Black Christmas still ranks after all these years as one of the most intense, atmospheric, and effective horror movies?.posted 2 days ago -
I recommend you see...Hooray i saw Avatar!! :D
Avatar
by MeshAvatar; first of all i want you to forget your expectation. Yeah, i know we all have waited years for this one, and i know it's our fav director coming back with another hit; but lower your expectation a bit, if not you'll burst out.
I have read many mix reviews on this one, while watching i asked myself, why they thought the movie suck? Over expectation. What makes a movie hit? let's see; The Dark Knight ring a bell? we never expect it would top the first one, a mega block buster sequel. Star Trek? Who would have thought that names like J.J Abrahams or Chris pine, would stick with us forever as movie lovers. Got it?
Now let me tell you what Avatar is about. It's a splendid journey, it's beyond imagination. James Cameron has yet succeed again with this one. The way he craft the fiction world, the character development, the story line, cinematography, background score, cast and breath taking technology is wonderful. This movie is a creative result of a talented mind. Though, i would say the plot was 'average' and some what predictable, does it make it boring? I object. If the name 'James Cameron' isn't attached to it, I bet more people will praised it; like i say Over - Expectation.
Cast play a crucial thing here; Sam Worthington has yet prove himself to be the 'hot-new' thing. He act amazing in his Avatar form, i wish he is nominated. Zoe Saldana; I have no word to describe her, she has it all - from exotic looks to talent (eat that twilight!). Loved Sigourney Weaver, Giovani Ribsi, Michelle Rodriguez and others - great cast.
I wouldn't say i am not dissapointed? Truth is, i am. But again, what the hell people? it's just beautifuly done. Though, I stick firm to my instinct, The Dark Knight, Star Trek, heck even Watchmen was better than this! But don't bash, Avatar is beautiful on it's own.

I recommend you see...Check this out once you've seen AVATAR.
Sherlock Holmes
by JonnyGreat movie. Sherlock Holmes was entertaining from start to finish, with wonderful performances from all involved. British director Guy Ritchie's direction almost left me feeling whip lashed, and the chemistry and dialogue between Downey Jr. and Law was great fun. The images of pre-industrial London were very impressive, and the action scenes were rather good too.

Carriers
by andrewso this movie is about 4 survivors. and there is some kind of pandemic going on around the world they dont know what started it. so that is where it really gets hard to follow at one moment you think is there going to be any resident evil type thing going on you dont then your like is it like 28 days later and it kinda is but instead of a happy ending you get an 5 minute ending and not one person says anything everything about this movie was good and you did understand how they felt but it was just weird to have a movie about survivors to be so deep

District 9
by RichardWitness a seemingly ridiculous premise and opening act evolve into a rich, complex, and mesmerizing tale. Embedded inside this goofy mockumentary lies character growth as well as a smart, suspenseful hybrid of "The Fly" and "The Fugitive". Be patient with this one, and thy viewer will be rewarded.
