Andrei Rublev (1966,  Unrated)
Andrei Rublev 4.5 Stars
This film may be 3 hours long but it is filled with very interesting cinematography and, incredible representation of Russians struggling for their survival. Considering that the story takes place in the 15th century, we see how the religion has an major impact on the people. A film to see but only if you're able to appreciate great art and religion blend in one film.

This sci fi/ psychological film is amazing. It brings us to another 'world' that determines the future. No special effects to separate the two world, but the dialogue and silence will bring the viewers to that place.

Absolutely adored this film. The performances were incredible. Gena Rowlands was marvelous as the wacko mother. Peter Falk is also amazing as the husband who never gives up on his wife. One of my personal best from Cassevetes.

Little Miss Sunshine 4.5 Stars
A little film that just brings sunshine to your heart! A sweet, lovely film that seems desperate in the beginning but ends with a dance that you'll never forget. Great performances from the little Abigail Breslin which is like the Haley Joel Osment of today and Steve Carell makes you rethink his film career to a high level. Carell could be the next Robin Williams in more dramatic roles.

At first glance, i was a little skeptic about this film considering the cast. There was so much attention toward the actors that the story itself didnt feel as important as them. I also underestimated a few young actors such as Lindsay Lohan, Nick Cannon and Joshua Jackson. On the other hand, it is always great to see not major Hollywood stars, but very good and known actors into one film like Bill Macy and Anthony Hopkins. But the fact is that this picture was mesmerizing. Every actors, even Nick Cannon, did a wonderful performance. They all had smart roles so as viewers we dont get to attach to them, but the whole cast is represented as one character instead of being represented individually. So we feel the emotional aspect of the event as a whole.
As a young Canadian, i always admire RFK and his brother more than any other politician. But to see how much Robert Kennedy affected the Americans in the 1960s through this film shows how great of a leader he was. Although the film wasnt directly concentrated on him, the effort and excited surrounding the characters already gives a sense of importance from Kennedy.
The ending is a given, but to see the emotional breakdown of a nation, young and old, black or white, reflects how much we need someone like the Kennedys right now in this time of madness.
I think this film is very important and I recommend it to everyone especially the young generation that never seen a great leader alive. Maybe soon the hope of great leadership will arise with Barack Obama.
