Trailer looks rather good but is it another typical movie form Roland Emmerich?

Something I definitely want to check out, however, depending on the reviews this movie gets I may wait to see it and not rush out to the cinema.

After reading some horrible reviews, I still want to see this but more so for the special effects than anything else.
