Cute comedy has funny and romantic moments, but never quite catches fire. Bolstered by the performances of Streep and especially Thurman, who has never been more appealing on-screen.

Ok, don't like the whole male escort part, but I really like Debra Messing in this movie, and the view and scenery of the countryside is really breathtaking.
Casino Royale

A movie about how Bond became Bond. Daniel Craig is the best James Bond in my opinion. Loved Eva Green as Vesper Lynd. Not your typical beautiful bimbo Bond girl.

Dark examination of chance and fate covers familiar ground, but Woody Allen responds to it with a fresh unexpected twist. Good performances all round. Very good movie.

A story of a man who revisits his past, only to find the lessons he learnt haven't been forgotten, just buried. The movie has its moments, with its lush, beautiful scenery. Sweet, touching and lovely.

Highly entertaining reinvention of the Batman franchise, ingenious script, impeccably cast and executed.

A provocative drama offering consistently disturbing and believable scenes. Excellent work by Haggis.

The Painted Veil

I feel that the movie is a depiction of an actual relationship, a depiction of the way that people fall in love with their illusions about somebody as much as with the real person. Then the pain and the difficulty and the disenchantment that comes when those things fall away. The notion of a couple getting through the difficult act of forgiveness and an unexpected chance at redemption make the movie more meaningful than it normally would. A love story told backwards.

Clever movie laced with uniquely New York-flavoured moments of humour and riffs. Owen stands out with his performance.
